The Supreme Court denied Thursday the petition of eight Indiana University students asking to block the school’s requirement that students receive the COVID vaccine as a condition of fall enrollment.
Newly confirmed conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett was charged with reviewing the legal challenge to the college’s rule and refused to block it. No other justices on the bench offered a dissenting opinion.
The case originated when a group of Indiana students asked the court for an emergency order striking down the mandate, claiming that the potential harm of inoculation exceeded the merits of protection against the disease for their age demographic.

The vociferous/vehement/violent intimidation of Trump’s appointees is having a lasting effect. The left is being rewarded today for their vicious attacks during the confirmations. Means we’ll see more of that if the GOP ever gets back in the Whitehouse, which is highly doubtful.

In the Indiana University case the US Supreme Court has followed its precedent vaccination opinions. Justice Barrett followed the SC's precedents, as she promised to do during her confirmation hearing. It's a no brainer - an easy decision.
"In 1905, in a case titled "Jacobson v Massachusetts," the US Supreme Court upheld the Cambridge, Mass, Board of Health’s ("state action") authority to MANDATE vaccinations against smallpox during a smallpox epidemic. It's probable there were NO vaccination opt-outs.
Since around the 1960s the SC has basically followed "Jacobson" and has issued a few opinions that do not involve "state action." They are generally easier decisions as they do not involve governmental action.
Based on SC precedent it's highly probable that the SC is NOT going to block any vaccination requirements as long as they do NOT act in an unreasonable, arbitrary or oppressive manner,
(in the COVID-19 context - probably always including some reasonable opt-outs).
By their very nature the recent vaccination cases decided by the SC are limited to a relatively meager record: pleadings, legal argument, citations, etc. There's no cross-examination, etc. The SC will summarily block Covid-19 vaccination requirements ONLY if they are clearly "on their face" unreasonable, arbitrary, and/or oppressive.

If "conservative" presidents actually believed the stuff they give lip service to they would meet one-on-one with nominees and ask them point blank if they will vote to uphold the actual constitution and defend traditional America. Ask if they will vote to overturn Roe, to uphold the Second Amendment, keep their noses out of issues that are none of their business such as marriage or sexual preference, etc. If the nominee cannot vote to do these or refuses to give a clear, unambiguous answer then drop them from consideration. Leftists know what they are likely to get because they know who teaches and what is taught in law schools and they will not consider any who give any hint they might not vote in lockstep with their agenda. Is there anyone who doubts how Kagan or Sotomayor or Breyer will come down on any issue touching on the leftist agenda? Do you think the men who nominated them and the senators who approved them had any doubts about this?
