Gov. It was one year ago Wednesday that Kamala Harris was announced as Joe Biden’s running mate. That auspicious moment catapulted the stone-cold loser of the Democratic presidential contest into prime time, a heartbeat away from the Oval Office. With the convenient defenestration of her main rival, handsy, outgoing Gov. Cuomo, the ambitious 56-year-old vice president is another step closer to the 2024 nomination — or 2028, if you believe Biden. The problem for the Democrats is that she is unelectable. A key measure of inflation remained unchanged in July from its June level, spurring fears that price increases will continue to hit Americans in the wallet. Federal data released on Wednesday showed that for the 12 months through July, the consumer price index rose 5.4 percent, unchanged from June and at the highest level since the Great Recession in 2008. On a monthly basis, consumer prices jumped 0.5 percent from June to July, down from the previous monthly increase of 0.9 percent.Excluding food and energy prices, so-called core inflation rose 4.3 percent in the past year, down from 4.5 percent in June.

More and more, President Joe Biden appears to be little more than a figurehead for the radical left, who helped elect him and appear to control his administration. The American people were sold a bill of goods about Biden being a middle-of-the-road candidate looking for common ground, but that is far from what they got. The current crop of COVID-19 vaccines may not be as effective against the Indian 'Delta' variant compared to the original strain of the virus, a new study suggests. Researchers from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, found that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine—the most commonly used shot in the U.S.—was only 42 percent effective against infection in July. Meanwhile, the Moderna vaccine was only 76 percent effective. The highly contagious Delta variant is the dominant strain in the U.S., and there are fears that it has a unique ability to cause breakthrough cases among those who are fully vaccinated. There is also growing conversation about booster shots

Another round of COVID insanity is upon us, and the totalitarian impulse among the ruling class is getting worse.
The spike in cases is undeniable. For this, it appears several important facts have converged. The early hope for herd immunity has turned out to be a chimera. The authorities assumed herd immunity would happen through the spread of disease or immunity through the help of vaccines or both. But the Delta and now the Lambda variants have undone old assumptions. Neither vaccines, nor prior infections, appear to offer much protection from these (although vaccines may prevent severe disease, the jury is out).

A decade ago, the EPA determined the Keystone Pipeline would produce “no adverse environmental” effects. But Joe “Follow-the-Science” Biden (does anyone seriously think Biden knows anything about science or bothers to follow it?) killed the pipeline hours after being sworn in last January.
Since then, Biden has waged war on the American oil and gas industry. Scolding Americans that “we’ve already waited too long to deal with the climate crisis,” he has halted new oil and gas leases on federal lands and ordered a re-examination of existing leases.
OK, burning oil and gas has probably warmed the earth a degree or two. Or not. The science is not settled.

In an Aug. 2 opinion piece for Southside Pride, a local monthly newspaper, titled The cops started it, Minneapolis DFL Chair Devin Hogan argued that the burning of the Third Precinct on May 28, 2020, three days after George Floyd’s death in the same city, was a "proportional response" to the treatment of Black people by police.

A man who died in West Africa has tested positive for the Ebola-like Marburg virus — with health officials scrambling to stop the killer disease before it can "spread far and wide," the World Health Organization said. The unidentified man fell sick with "fever, headache, fatigue [and] abdominal pain" last month in Gueckedou in Guinea, close to the borders with Sierra Leone and Liberia, WHO officials announced Monday. He died on Aug. 2, with tests finally showing that he died from Marburg, a "highly infectious disease that causes hemorrhagic fever" — and has a fatality rate of up to 88 percent, the

Hollywood legend and noted Republican Clint Eastwood has sent a “message of support” to conservative talk radio host Larry Elder, who is running to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in the California recall election, Elder reported Tuesday. It was not clear whether Eastwood’s message constituted a formal endorsement.
Eastwood, who spoke at the 2012 Republican National Convention, has continued to make groundbreaking films into his nineties. Elder has emerged as the main contender in most polls, out of a field of more than 40 candidates vying to replace Newsom. Other leading candidates include Democrat Kevin Paffrath, a real estate investor and YouTuber; former

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) just released a statement this morning warning Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that he has “serious concerns” about the massive spending in the $3.5 trillion budget spending plan that the Democrats are trying to push through, particularly in light of the rising inflation and debt. The bill is basically a wishlist of every Democratic agenda item to help them hold onto power.
While Manchin voted yes on a procedural vote to move the bill forward because he wanted discussion on the fiscal policy, he said that he was not in favor of the bill as presently constructed because of the huge cost:

Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. diplomat who negotiated a withdrawal deal with the Taliban last year, is back in Doha, Qatar, desperately trying to cobble together some kind of face-saving agreement for the Afghan government that would allow them to leave the country alive.
The reason for Khalilzad’s haste is that the rate of collapse by the Afghan army has accelerated beyond anyone’s imaginings from just a couple of weeks ago. The Taliban took its 7th provincial capital on Tuesday and show absolutely no sign of slowing down their military offensive in order to negotiate a power-sharing deal with the Afghan government.
The Biden administration admits the situation is desperate.

he COVID pandemic has witnessed the exercise of state “police powers” on a scale and scope unprecedented in America’s peacetime history. Out of fear of contagion, massive amounts of private property in the form of shops, restaurants, bars, and other businesses were peremptorily seized and shuttered. The rights of landlords to collect rents and evict tenants were suspended. The ability of people to cross from one state to another was hobbled by regulations, quarantines, and delays. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has led the charge of 19 senator republicans, hell-bent on running off a cliff.Like a bunch of lemmings, 19 GOPers sided with Democrats and signed onto an infrastructure bill that isn’t about infrastructure it’s a debt and bureaucratic disaster in the making.Although we are told it will “pay for itself”, it won’t. Repurposed Covid funds are insufficient to fill gaps, and “Covid funds” were funds created out of thin air in any event so claiming it pays for itself with fake money, is just more mafia-style creative accounting.

The United States is a very young country. Our sense of history is compressed. Our history is a blip on the radar of many other nations’ and peoples’ histories. So our perspective on things is often quite different. China has been China for thousands of years. Basically the same people living in the same place for eons. With a very different history — which imbues them with a very different perspective. We in the US are VERY fortunate. The reason we remember so desperately the Great Depression is because it was such an anomaly for us. Ten years of hard times scarred the psyche

Considering how much I hate receiving parking tickets, this is one war on standards I might get behind. However, it also extends to compliance with driving, vehicle registration, and fine-paying requirements.
The Washington Post assigned a team to investigate ticketing in Washington, D.C. The team collected five years of traffic and parking enforcement data containing more than 10 million records of infractions. It then merged that information with data from the Census Bureau to analyze enforcement records by area of the city.

President Joe Biden was filmed seemingly ignoring the direction of a Secret Service agent tried to direct him to a path leading to the White House.
In Biden's latest bizarre gaffe, the president was filmed returning to the White House after spending time in Wilmington, Delaware when the agent points for him to follow the sidewalk path into the White House.
Instead, Biden is seen following the agent up the lawn and through the garden into the presidential estate.
The video has left shocked critics of the 78 year-old president once again surmising whether Biden is suffering the effects of cognitive decline.

The White House on Wednesday called on OPEC and its allies to boost oil production as gas prices continue to climb, threatening the nation’s economic recovery. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement the administration has spoken with OPEC members urging the group to increase production. OPEC, which stands for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, reached an agreement last month with its non-OPEC allies, known as OPEC+, to increase oil production by 400,000 barrels per day. But Mr. Sullivan said that isn’t enough to bolster the oil supply.

Andrew Cuomo announced yesterday that he’s resigning as governor of New York because he loves the state and it’s clear that he’s in the way. Since I think very little of the man, both as a person and a politician, the fact that he’s leaving seems like good news. However, it’s very likely that, by pulling out now, he’s sparing himself and his minions a criminal investigation into the 15,000 old people who died last year when he insistently warehoused COVID patients into retirement communities.

The Senate approved the framework of a $3.5 trillion budget plan in a key procedural vote on Wednesday morning, allowing the body to move towards a final vote on the issue.
Senators voted to advance the framework 50-49 along party lines, with Senator Mike Rounds (R., S.D.) absent. The vote came just before 4 a.m. following a “vote-a-rama,” during which senators introduced amendments for largely symbolic votes designed to test the level of Senate support for various issues.
The plan provides for universal pre-kindergarten, free two-year community college, tax incentives for clean-energy sources to fight climate change, and an expansion of Medicare

The time-honored tradition of naming a law professorship after a famous scholar or donor has gone off the rails a bit at a University of Arkansas law school — and the twist involves none other than the would-be honoree himself, former President Bill Clinton. Newly released records show the scandal-plagued former president had withdrawn his approval for a teaching chair to be named after himself at the William H. Bowen School of Law. Yet emeritus professor John DiPippa, who has held the post since it was first endowed in 2000, recently dubbed it the Clinton chair anyway.

The outcry has begun to impeach Joe Biden. He should be. Dan Bongino is noteworthy in making the call. And not for “light and transient causes,” to borrow from the Declaration of Independence. Not to stage show trials, like Pelosi, Schumer, and other Democrats did to Donald Trump.
If the United States had a recall referendum provision – as otherwise dysfunctional California does --canvassers would secure signatures to hold a Biden recall vote in record time, no doubt.

Its mission statement regarding the COVID-19 vaccines reads in part: “The group emphasizes the voluntary nature of this medical treatment as well as the need for informed consent and individual risk-benefit assessment. … Control over our bodily integrity may well be the ultimate frontier of the fight to protect civil liberties.”
It objects to the manner in which the unvaccinated are unfairly “being targeted by mainstream media, government social engineering campaigns, unjust rules and policies, collaborating employers, and the social-media mob,”

Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) was challenged recently by a caller on the “Jay Thomas Show.” The caller asked Cramer to reveal the identity of the Capitol Police officer who shot and killed unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, on January 6. Cramer claimed he did not know the name of the officer, nor did he believe the public had any right to know that officer’s name because he had not been found guilty of any wrongdoing.
