The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that banning anyone over 18 but under 21 from purchasing handguns violates the Second Amendment. The two-to-one vote which nullified federal laws that unconstitutionally prohibit people under 21 from purchasing a handgun, comes after the plaintiff, 19-year-old Natalia Marshall was denied a gun from a licensed dealer despite her fears that her abusive ex-boyfriend (Snip) “History makes clear that 18- to 20-year-olds were understood to fall under the Second Amendment’s protections,” the court stated in the ruling. “Those over 18 were universally required to be part of the militia near the ratification

Now the gun grabbers have to make a decision - allow the ruling to stand, where it would apply only to the Fourth Circuit, or roll the dice and appeal the SCOTUS. This court covers MD, NC, SC, VA and WV. My guess is that they will request an en banc hearing first, and see how that plays. If they lose and go to SCOTUS, they could easily uphold, where the ruling would become the law of the land. Many states have enacted this prohibition, so a favorable SCOTUS ruling would invalidate all state with these laws (including mine, Illinois). I wouldn't gamble on this one if I were the gun grabbers, but somehow I bet they do.

Many people are very sensible at age 18. Many people are dimwitted fools at age 45. Setting age limits makes some sense, for some things, but self defense is a Constitutional Right. Most other rights begin at 18.

If the US Government can deploy an 18 year old soldier to Afghanistan where he or she could be killed or have his of her legs blown off , those soldiers should be covered under the Second Amendment and be authorized to purchase a legal firearm.

#3 - I remember well, back in 1974, when Maryland (among many other states) lowered the legal age for beer and wine. It was 2 months after my 18th birthday and yeah, it was cool at the time but in hindsight - a very bad idea. I'm sure I'd be better off today having not wasted entire weekends and summers during my prime years. #8 - It's always been my contention that anyone 18-20 years old with an active-duty ID card should be able to legally drink. Alcohol-related issues among the troops would no doubt skyrocket but it's the right thing to do.

Re: #9 - When I was in Navy bootcamp in Orlando at age 17, I could buy beer in the EM club on base during earned liberty; however, they only sold "3.2" beer, which is substantially lower in alcohol content than regular beer, so you'd bust a gut or spew before becoming intoxicated.

If you are old enough to join the military and shoot a weapon, you are old enough to buy a weapon. However, some people, no matter the age, should not be allowed to buy bullets.

It’s hard to believe that London was once a city in which the greatest risk its inhabitants faced was insomnia caused by the odd ghost or two showing up at all hours to lecture about the true meaning of Christmas. If there’s one story that exemplifies what London has become today, it’s the sordid tale of Danyal Hussein and his pet demon, Lucifuge Rofocale. Hussein is an Iraqi-Kurdish immigrant who personifies the term “not sending their best.” Weak-minded and impressionable, as a teen Hussein fell under the spell of London’s murder-crazed imams. At age 15, he found himself on the radar of Scotland Yard’s “anti-extremism” task force.

Granted, the concept of “white privilege” has already achieved mental hegemony, but is it true? It can be tested simply by measuring whether more people on the racial margins are attempting to pass from being considered nonwhite to white (as happened in the increasingly distant past) or instead from white to nonwhite. Today, we see an increasing number of white-looking individuals, especially leftist female professors of grievance studies, striving for the privileges of being officially nonwhite. This has become hilariously common in Australia, where the newspapers are full of the pathbreaking feats of the “first Indigenous” this or that, almost always with a photo of an extremely white-looking person. Tim Hale-Cusanelli might not be the easiest January 6 protester to defend. Some of the memes investigators found on his cell phone mock black people. Hale seems to have an odd fixation with Adolf Hitler, even sporting a haircut and moustache to resemble the Nazi leader. Those close to him say he’s a comedian of sorts and insist his videos are satire not intended to hurt anyone. But a cursory view of the government’s evidence against him raises eyebrows. They do not, however, make him a criminal. Hale, an Army reservist for 11 years, was honorably discharged after he was arrested for participating in the Capitol protest on January 6.

Numerous figures in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Biden Administration are allegedly pressuring phone companies to illegally spy on the text messages and phone calls of American citizens who have concerns about getting a coronavirus vaccine, as reported by the New York Post. First reported by Politico, the shocking allegations claim that Biden Administration officials are frustrated by their failure to reach the self-imposed goal of vaccinating 70 percent of American adults by July 4th. To this end, Democratic officials are “planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS (Short Message Service) carriers to dispel misinformation about vaccines.”

One of the oddest things about Western man is that he is much more willing to kill over abstract ideas than he is over practical items. Wars for land or mineral rights tend to be short and relatively bloodless. One side wants the land held by another or maybe they want access to some natural resource. Negotiations fail, hostilities begin, and after the armies fight, a new round of talks settles the matter. The disputes over ideas, on the other hand, end in catastrophe. One side decides that the other side is believing the wrong things or is organizing its society in a way that offends them. Because the spark of
