And so it ends.
On Friday, June 18, 2021 the Rush Limbaugh Show officially shut down the Golden EIB microphone.
As it happened, it fell to my local Harrisburg radio host, WHP’s Ken Matthews, to be the last “guide” host that had shepherded the show since Rush departed to give back the talent he had on loan from God.
The realization that Rush’s show - which had continued since his death with guide hosts and taped Rush playbacks on various topics - was now, in fact, irretrievably over and never to return was both poignant and a tad unnerving for his fans.

I haven't listened much since Rush died. He was always there, every weekday in the middle of the day. I could depend on getting a good lesson of some kind if I tuned in. And many times when traveling cross country, where reception was bad, I remember tuning between to scratchy stations, trying to decide which one had the least electrical static and interference.
I really miss Rush.

With all proper respect to the Maharushie, doing more than two weeks of an online memorial was just weird. Every day the host manipulating his conversation to set up one of Rush’s monologues was morbid after awhile. Create an interactive museum, but enough with pretending like he is still with us. I’m glad we have finally moved on. I just hope whoever occupies the chair is able to not only opine on the news but bring a sense of humor (a la Paul Shanklin) and optimism instead of a Hannity-like bludgeoning of ones brain cells.

Rush, you’re greatly missed. We are so glad President Donald Trump gave you the presidential medal in the presence of Nancy Pelosi. Stuck it to the Marxists.
We have replaced Rush with the amazing Stephen K. Bannon. The excitement in The War Room is contagious and optimistic. MAGAnificent. If one DuckDuckgoes “ Bannon Rumble “ up it appears. The 48 minutes segments without adds have the War Room logo. Bannon is Rush´s successor in Trump era.

Rush will never, ever be "Shut Down". his legendary life and tenure on radio and some television will never find an equal and anyone who thinks they have what it takes to follow in his footsteps has got to take a PhD level course in humility, first.

I was in the car, listening as the Show signed off. It was sad! But, I am glad they finally did it. Hearing Rush, day after day after his death, was a bit surreal. I didn't care for it. So it's time to move on. There will never be another Rush! That said, I am also a listener of Bannon's War Room. He finally got a haircut, shave and ditched his army jacket. Now he actually looks normal! His show is filled with guests who are on the Front Lines of the Audit in AZ. They know what they're talking about. So, I listen from 10 to Noon and then tune to my Rush Station. Keeps me informed!

Rush had a unique combination of information and entertainment. His endlessly optimistic tone was always encouraging. Especially when some apparent disaster for conservatism happened, he would have a buoyant and even uplifting perspective that no one else had.
It was his optimism that was so important to me. The present crop of hosts seem so dark, so depressing, so negative. They're informative, but all seem to be missing Rush's signature light-heartedness. Even when hammering the left, it was always with a "Well, lookit this! There they go again!" attitude.
I miss that harmless little fuzzball every day.

What made Rush great was his oversize personality, his voice and most importantly his life experiences, like being fired from seven jobs in is seven cities. He learned from those experiences and along with his beliefs learned from his father in his formative years, created the man who became bigger than life. He was able to take a news story and elaborate on it with common sense and humor. People who called him an entertainer could not accept Rush's common sense and logic, which almost alway left his detractors unable to return a cogent argument. The person who someday may replace Rush will have to have the same life experiences and personality. You don’t replace a Bernstein , Balanchine, or other great artist. They are unique and can’t be duplicated. We have to accept the fact that Rush won’t be back.

They're still looking for Paul Harvey's successor. There may be others filling that time slot, none are his successors. Perhaps some one some day...
