The final day of the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis seemed at times to be a remake of the 1981 neo-noir film, “True Confessions.” Call it “True Concessions.” Judge Peter Cahill acknowledged that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) may have given the defense a basis to overturn any conviction, while prosecutors seemed to drive a stake through the heart of their cases against three other officers charged in the death of George Floyd. And it all played out on live television. Rep. Waters ignited a firestorm of controversy by flying to Minnesota to tell protesters to remain in the streets and fight for “justice,” to be “more confrontational,”

The Republican Party's campaign arm launched a new website this week calling on more than two dozen House Democrats, many from highly competitive districts, to return campaign contributions from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The website — named "Socialist Give Back" — lists 26 House Democrats who received donations from Ocasio-Cortez, accusing them of supporting some of their party's most liberal policies. "Every vulnerable Democrat who refuses to give back donations from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is complicit in her socialist agenda that wants to defund the police, open our borders and raise taxes," Michael McAdams, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, said in a statement to Fox News.

A lawyer defending Derek Chauvin, who is on trial for the death of George Floyd, cited Rep. Maxine Waters’, D-Calif., comments to Minnesota protesters over the weekend in court on Monday. "And now that we have [a] U.S. representative … threatening acts of violence in relation to this specific case, it's it's mind boggling to me to have," Attorney Eric Nelson said, as he attempted to argue that the jury may have been unduly influenced by external factors. Judge Peter Cahill said that he wished elected officials would stop referencing the case "especially in a manner that is disrespectful

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended Rep. Maxine Waters urging protesters to "get more confrontational" over the weekend in the event that Derek Chauvin is acquitted of murder for the death of George Floyd, saying the Democratic congresswoman does not need to apologize. Over the weekend, Waters, D-Calif., said protesters in Minnesota should "stay on the street and get more active."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-G announced an effort Sunday to expel Rep. Maxine Waters from Congress after she told protesters in Minnesota to "get more confrontational" if Derek Chauvin isn't convicted of murdering George Floyd. In a statement released by her office, Taylor Greene accused the California Congresswoman of inciting "Black Lives Matter domestic terrorists to fire gunshots at National Guardsmen in Minnesota" after she spoke in Brooklyn Center, which has become a flashpoint for protests following the fatal police shooting of Daunte Wright. "I'll be introducing a resolution to expel Rep. Maxine Waters from Congress for her continual incitement of violence," a statement from Taylor Greene's office reads.

Prince William personally asked not to walk side-by-side with brother Prince Harry at their grandfather’s funeral — and some senior royals refused to even acknowledge the outspoken prince, according to a report.
William, 38, had made the request that saw them separated by their cousin Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, as they walked behind Prince Philip’s coffin Saturday, sources told the Mail on Sunday. It was just part of “a great deal of frostiness” Harry faced during his first time home in the UK following the damning allegations Harry and wife Meghan Markle made against his family during their TV tell-all.

West Point Military Academy has expelled eight cadets and held back 53 others for a year over its biggest cheating scandal in more than 40 years.
The centuries-old New York training academy announced the punishments Friday after a full investigation into 72 freshmen and one sophomore accused of cheating on an online freshman calculus exam in May. It also announced it was scrapping its “willful admission process” that allowed 55 of the cheaters to escape expulsion by confessing.
“West Point must be the gold standard for developing Army officers.

Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, called out the Salt Lake Tribune for "woke racism" after the paper published a "pathetic" editorial cartoon comparing him to the Ku Klux Klan that has also irked fellow Utah Republican lawmakers. The cartoon by longtime satirist Pat Bagley compared rhetoric by Owens about migrants crossing the southern border to comments made by the Ku Klux Klan 70 years ago. "The @sltrib and @Patbagley compare me to the KKK, the radical hate group that terrorized me in my youth, because I am one of many sounding the alarm of the trauma being faced by women and children crossing the border. This is pathetic," Owens tweeted

Facebook has had a bad month and, having lost the data of 533 million users, new revelations may just make the social media giant’s 2.8 billion active users think about calling it quits. The revelations come from two very different sources: a university student and a prominent UK newspaper, but both are likely to significantly undermine trust in the social network. The first comes from a viral thread posted by student Zamaan Qureshi: “So I decided to download my Facebook data after learning I was a part of the 533m breach,” he explained. “Clicked on a folder called “your_off_facebook_activity” and was unsurprised to learn that Facebook is following me CORRECTION*

In 2005, then-Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) delivered a Senate floor speech about President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's doomed 1937 plan to "pack" the U.S. Supreme Court. FDR's plan would have permitted him to add six justices, immediately securing a pro-New Deal judicial majority. But "in an act of great courage, Roosevelt's own party stood up against this institutional power grab," Biden recounted 16 years ago. "They did not agree with the judicial activism of the Supreme Court, but they believed that Roosevelt was wrong to seek to defy established traditions as a way of stopping that activism."

Project Veritas continued to cause headaches for CNN on Thursday when it published another secretly recorded video featuring network technical director Charles Chester discussing how his employer manipulates coverage to fit its liberal agenda. "I was trying to do some research on, like, the Asian hate, like the people are getting attacked and whatnot. A bunch of Black men have been attacking Asians. I’m like ‘What are you doing? Like, we are trying to help BLM,’" Chester said in the video. Chester noted that "conservatives" would pounce if it was reported that Black people were the ones committing hate crimes because it wouldn’t coincide with the Black Lives Matter movement.
