FedEx mass shooter was reportedly
'known' to authorities

The gunman in the FedEx shooting spree was previously known to federal and local authorities—and had been flagged up to law enforcement by a concerned family member before the deadly attack, according to a report Friday. The suspect, who committed suicide after killing eight at the Indiana facility Thursday night, has not been publicly identified by police. But CNN reporter Ana Cabrera said he’s no stranger to law enforcement. “Authorities were warned about FedEx suspect’s potential for violence in the past, sources say,” Cabrera tweeted. “The suspect in the Indianapolis mass shooting was known to federal and local authorities prior to the attack.”

They are ALWAYS "known to the authorities" it would seem. Crazy, dangerous, violent people.....and nothing is done in advance. The lunatic in Denver who shot up the movie theater had told his psychologist or psychiatrist that he was having fantasies about killing people.....and the info was NOT provided to anyone to stop him from killing people. And the recent Colorado shooter was a known paranoid nutcase, too. Something really wrong when normal people can't be protected from dangerous nutcases. Another aspect of closing down mental hospitals and turning these lunatics loose on society.

Look up "deinstitutionalization" to understand how good intentions went awry in the US. Decades ago politicians and mental health advocates decided too many people were put into mental health facilities, and that it would be more humane to treat people in their own communities. The belief was that new medications would make it possible for mentally ill people to live outside of institutions, and that belief led to hospitals for the mentally ill being shut down across the country. Our population has grown since the late 1950s, but our capacity to care for the mentally ill was reduced. Note that a relative tried to warn authorities the gunman was increasingly dangerous. Depending on the state, involuntary commitment can be very difficult. Gun grabbing politicians would rather talk about disarming law abiding citizens, than dealing with those who struggle with mental illness. Politicians could make it easier to evaluate and hold mentally ill persons than it is now. The focus needs to be on dangerous individuals. As we learn in the article, he was known to authorities but something got in the way of keeping him away from the general population. The MSM has wasted far too much time blaming "guns" when the problem is mental illness and the barriers to having them committed.

Again? Again?? 94% of mass murderers in the last four decades gave off clear if not unmistakable signs of malevolent intent long before the atrocities. It seems that some people in charge of our safety have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the the worst criminals of all--terrorists minus or plus malignant religion, if you will--hoping that the worst will happen so they can can have legislative license to erase our constitutional freedoms.

As the shooter committed suicide and was lying on the ground in the facility, I would guess that the authorities would indeed know who he is.

On Friday, Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga became the first world leader to visit the Biden White House. These visits help set the tone for an administration. That being the case, the new administration’s tone is inept and rude. Biden was also absent for the first part of it, leaving an awkward Kamala Harris to trash the U.S. for gun violence before turning to welcome Suga. When Biden took over, things went downhill. (snip) Normally, when a foreign head of state arrives, the President gives him or her a formal greeting. This time, however, the President was nowhere to be found.

Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga was the first world leader to visit the White House since Biden’s installation, and the poor form began with no-one greeting the head of the Japanese government upon arrival. There was a prolonged ammunition shortage during the Obama administration. I got through that one because a Power Line reader lined me up with a dealer in West Virginia who seemed to have an endless supply of 9 mm. and .22LR rounds. Over the last year, another ammo shortage has struck, caused in part by an influx of new gun buyers who are responding to rising crime rates, attacks on law enforcement, and the election of Joe Biden. As with most shortages, it has been accentuated by hoarding: whenever a shooter saw boxes of a popular caliber on the shelves, he would buy them all. For quite a while
