President Joe Biden will take new executive action Thursday aimed at reducing gun violence in the United States. Politico first reported Wednesday that the new measure — one of several “common sense” gun reforms Biden has promised to take — will require people purchasing “ghost guns,” homemade firearms without serial numbers, to undergo a federal background check. It remains unclear how many specific actions Biden is expected to take on guns, but reporting indicates the president will also seek to close the “Charleston Loophole,” which allows licensed dealers to transfer firearms to buyers before a background check is completed.

Since total gun confiscation isn't going to happen for a number of reasons, this won't stop the criminals from using guns they got illegally to commit crimes. Maryland has some of the toughest guns laws in the country, but Baltimore is still right up there with much larger cities in gun violence, and the numbers of murders that go along with it. So whatever Biteme signs, won't have any effect on the people in Maryland and in the city of Baltimore.

Does “reducing gun violence” mean that he’s going to clean out the inner city ghettos and throw all of the thugs and gangbangers in prison?

Ghost gun approach is sort of silly. Here is why.
A person can purchase all of the parts to assemble a gun,, and the parts have no serial numbers.
Saying that a person has to undergo a background check to purchase any of the parts is unwieldly.
Making possession of a ghost gun - fully assembled, but without a serial number, - illegal, makes more sense.

"Common sense". How is this labeled common sense: "... require people purchasing “ghost guns,” homemade firearms without serial numbers, to undergo a federal background check" No serial number so how is this going to be enforced? They'll flail away for awhile then say all non-serialed guns must be banned even though they are legal now and for a long time. If they ban them going forward who is to know when they were finished? "Common sense" is liberal code for complete idiocy.

Executive orders are only supposed to effect activities tied to the federal government. They may be able to stretch an EO it to gun dealers because they have a federal license, but POTUS cannot unilaterally ban 30 round mags or "ghost guns" except maybe on federal property.

Here is a pretty good explanation of ghost guns. Keep in mind to always doubt anything written down about gun laws. https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/homemade-guns-are-they-legal-must-they-be-registered.

All bullsh**. Joe Biden a racist, bigot and complete unadulterated moron has yet, like every democrat, explained how he is going to get illegal guns out of the criminal thugs that are killing men, women and children in every democratic run city. It was the democrats who ended the stop and frisk law that now enables thugs in every city to walk around with illegal guns without fear. It is the democrats who run cities like Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, Oakland, Tulsa, Newark, New Orleans and many others that let thugs caught with illegal guns walk free, no bail, no sentence, no fear and no accountability.

If Biden's order is even close to this incoherent announcement, we got nothing to fear. It sounds like he wants background checks on untraceable guns. Like thats gonna happen!

I'm certainly not advocating Biden's executive actions, but seems to me they do nothing but harass legitimate purchasers, and do nothing that would have prevented the recent mass shootings.
"Common sense"? That's laughable. The Biden regime lacks common sense, from Traitor Joe on down. Do you detect any common sense in Orange Woman? in Alfred E. Neuman? in any given member of the cabinet?

Early muskets weren't serialized, I thought it was OK to have them.
Interesting how as soon as we began to keep modern military weapons, genuine weapons of war out of the hands of we the people, our government stepped way the hell out of their constitutional lane. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Perhaps folks should put their masks on their "assault rifles," which should automatically make them safe.
Seriously, if Biden broadens the background checks, he will also have the power and the inclination to cause the feds running the checks to slow walk everything, effectively depriving citizens of their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

On extremely specific demographic is responsible for nearly all "gun crime" in the USA. Does Boy Joey plan to return them to the continent they identify with, or must the remaining 87% (or 97%, depending how narrowly you slice it) of US society need to accept and adapt to the senseless violence they can't seem to stop doing, and that we're not allowed to notice?

What about lying on the application to purchase a gun, Joe? Maybe you should ask Hunter how that works so you can also pass "common sense" reform and hire your son to oversee that department.

Don't get around a lot but I don't know anyone who makes their own guns from scratch, their own microwave oven, cable modem, lawn mower. What I guess Quid Pro Joe will do is ban large capacity magazines. But their will be exceptions for people who already have them. Strangely no one ever mentions if we had common sense pressure cooker purchase laws the bombing at the Boston Marathon could have been prevented. And if we had background checks for boxcutters we might had been spared 911.

Huge numbers of firearms were built before serial numbers were mandatory. How would they find them? House-to-house searches?
How will restricting access to a farmer's firearm that has been in circulation - never used in a crime - for 80 years or more help with the thug-on-thug murdering that occurs every single day in every Demonrat-controlled city in the US?

Democrats say, according to polls, Americans favor universal background checks by an overwhelming margin. Although anecdotal, I know no one who wants universal checks. And would like to see how the “poll” questions were framed. I suspect a push poll designed with a pre-determined outcome.

I never stop reading comments which say gun laws are not effective in disarming thugs, gangbangers and murderers.
Gun banners KNOW this: they're disarming the law abiding public because we' re the only ones stopping their utopian wet dream.
