Voting rights advocate Stacey Abrams said Tuesday that she felt chastised and insulted in the summer of 2020 while enduring questions about her capacity to handle the job of the Vice President of the United States when then-candidate Joe Biden was considering choosing her as his running mate. Abrams spoke to author N.K. Jemison on the first day of the South by Southwest festival, which is being held virtually this year. It’s early, but not too early to give Politico the scoop of the year award for this: “The president so far has surprised some of his former colleagues and allies with a largely gaffe-free White House debut after a lifetime of verbal stumbles.”The hoops you have to jump through — and with your eyes closed! — to reach a sweeping conclusion like that is what makes it award winning. First, you must, at least temporarily, steel your mind to reject any contrary facts, including that President Biden has not held a press conference, meaning the chance for gaffes and inanities are basically zero because he always gets to read from

The year 2021 could be a particularly “dangerous” year for Spain, thanks to Islamic State terrorists posing as migrants entering via Europe with “instructions” to attack, among other targets, churches in Spain. [SNIP] One of the more recent threats concerns Santiago de Compostela, a Christian shrine in Galicia, in the furthest northwest of the peninsula. Several messages among Muslim migrants mentioning it as a potential target have been intercepted, placing the pilgrimage site on high alert and tightening restrictions concerning foreign visitors from hotspot nations, such as Syria, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The U.S. military is pushing woke, “social justice” leftism. Given the importance of this push, its otherwise bizarre attack on Tucker Carlson is not difficult to understand.
Let’s step back for a moment. The left has been marching through America’s institutions for decades. The media was in the vanguard. Universities were captured easily. Corporations fell without much resistance.
The military is a tougher nut to crack, but its leaders are drawn from a pool not that different from those who run universities and corporations, and these leaders crave approval from the same elites. Universities sometimes select presidents from the military brass.

During the last administration it was hard to go a week or even a day without someone decrying a supposedly appalling “attack” on members of the press by President Donald Trump. Not so much members of the armed forces speaking in their official capacity, which is what happened last week after Tucker Carlson of Fox News dared to comment about the role of women in the military. America took a jump backward about 100 years last week, and it was an interesting sight to see.
At issue was Sen. Marco Rubio and an op-ed he wrote for USA Today. Rubio announced a surprising change of position — specifically, that he backed Amazon workers at a facility in Bessemer, Alabama, in their effort to unionize against the e-tail giant.
Republicans throwing in behind unions? Is this a sign of the apocalypse?
You’d think so, but according to Rubio’s op-ed it isn’t much of a sea change in the GOP’s economic policy. Instead, he’s taking the stance as a result of Amazon’s toxicity in the culture wars:

But there is one exchange between two of the characters, Bill Gorton and Mike Campbell, that has stuck with me.

I still struggle to process the meaning of the Pentagon’s propaganda blitzkrieg against Tucker Carlson. Even if you think Carlson is wrong in his criticism of the woke military (see here for some of it), the fact that the Defense Department has reacted so aggressively is extraordinarily troubling. I would have been troubled by it had the DoD hit out at left-wing media critics like this. But to my knowledge, they never have. They reserved this kind of response for a conservative media figure who questioned the military’s new wokeness. This tells us something.

An official in the Georgia secretary of state’s office was the only source for at least one story that falsely claimed former President Donald Trump told an investigator with the office to “find the fraud.”
Jordan Fuchs, deputy secretary of state, relayed details of the conversation to The Washington Post, an official with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed to The Epoch Times.
Fuchs was not on the call herself. She was told about the conversation by Frances Watson, the investigator.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday disclosed that the migration surge at the US-Mexico border is likely the worst the situation has been in 20 years.Mayorkas, who has refused to call the situation a “crisis,” said in a statement that “[w]e are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years.”The statement referred to the surge as a “difficult situation,” but said his department is working to handle it “successfully.”Mayorkas disclosed new information,

In the early hours of March 12, FBI agents in southwestern Florida barricaded a neighborhood to prepare to raid the home of one resident. Christopher Worrell of Cape Coral was arrested and charged with several counts related to the January 6 Capitol melee. Even though Worrell had been cooperating with the FBI for two months, the agency nonetheless unleashed a massive, and no doubt costly, display of force to take him into custody.
The raid included “armed men with helmets and a tanker truck” and was partially executed by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Poor Joe Biden. It was his misfortune to inherit one of the technological marvels of our time.
Before President Biden took office, the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines had been authorized for use (with another, from Johnson & Johnson, on the way) and were already being administered to people around the country.
Typically, it takes 10 years or more to develop a vaccine, but here were two vaccines against a deadly virus that took less than a year from inception to finding their way into people’s arms.
And yet, listening to Biden and much of his team, you’d be forgiven for thinking that he had to conjure the vaccines out of nowhere

COLUMBUS – PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel donated $10 million to a super PAC supporting Hillbilly Elegy author J.D. Vance, a show of support for the possible Ohio Senate contender.
Thiel, a German-American billionaire and early investor in Facebook, gave $10 million to Protect Ohio Values, a super PAC formed last month to support Vance's possible bid, said Bryan Lanza, a communications adviser to the super PAC. The Mercer family also made a "significant contribution," Lanza said. Hedge fund billionaire Robert Mercer and his family were key supporters of former President Donald Trump's presidential bid. With few other viable options, Texas Democrats are hoping that next year former Rep. Beto O’Rourke challenges Republican incumbent Greg Abbott for governor.
The El Paso Democrat is considering running for governor, saying that Abbott has failed Texas during the pandemic. He later criticized his handling of the February winter storm that left millions of Texans without power and water. That has fueled speculation that O’Rourke is all but in the governor’s race, even though he’s just as likely to opt against the underdog campaign.

On Monday, conservatives were outraged when the Washington Post, in a teeny little paragraph appended to a major story from January, admitted that the core of the story was a lie based upon false quotations. I find myself surprisingly unmoved. First, this is par for the course for the modern Pravda media. Second, as long as there are no consequences, and there never are, it's irrelevant that the Washington Post behaved in a morally corrupt, fraudulent way.
This example of moral turpitude from the Washington Post began on January 9.

Guam's Congressional delegate Michael San Nicholas made good on his promise to deliver cookies to Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, after the freshman Congresswoman mistakenly referred to the US territory as a foreign nation receiving US aid.
San Nichols was escorted to Taylor Greene's office in the US Capitol building on Monday by members of the Guam National Guard, carrying in hand a basket of cookies and books. However, as shown in a video uploaded to social media by The Hill, the congresswoman was not there to meet them. Instead, they were met by an aide, who thanked the guests "for keeping us safe."

A movie about the life and times of Hunter Biden is in the works, but it’s not coming out of Hollywood. Conservative Irish filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer announced Tuesday the launch of a 60-day crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising $2.5 million for “My Son Hunter,” a film “based on the true story” of President Biden’s 51-year-old son. “It’s about Hunter Biden and his corrupt business dealings,” Mr. McAleer said in a video post on MySonHunter.com.(Snip) The film’s website shows images of the president and Hunter Biden along with the U.S. and Chinese flags and a pair of pole dancers

Election irregularities in the 2020 presidential election continue to be uncovered through independent analysis. An expert team led by physicist and Mensa John Droz, Jr., has been relentlessly examining election-related data and lawsuits since November, uncovering significant anomalies that warrant further investigation. The team’s objective throughout has been to help ascertain that all legal votes – and only legal votes – were counted. These efforts were previously reported out here, here, and here.
The team has just completed a “contrast analysis” of Biden versus Trump results in 2020 and Trump versus Clinton results in 2016 that exposes some irregularities that cannot be easily explained.

A Florida teen and her mother have been accused of rigging a high school homecoming court election by hacking students' accounts and casting fake ballots. Emily Rose Grover, 17, and Laura Rose Carroll, 50, were arrested on Monday in Pensacola after investigators uncovered their alleged plot to tamper with the election at Tate High School so that the teen would win homecoming queen last fall. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) said it opened the investigation in November after officials with the Escambia County School District (ECSD) reported that hundreds of student accounts had been accessed without authorization.

Fauci realizes that the Texas Rangers are planning to allow full capacity for Opening Day, right? That’s 40,000+ fans in the stands on April 5, three months before Biden’s target date for all Americans to feel safe having small barbecues with friends for Independence Day. I dare say the era in which people take Fauci’s and the CDC’s advice on socializing is rapidly drawing to a close. School districts will still listen to the experts on whether and how to reopen for bureaucratic ass-covering purposes but the average joe will be flying solo on gauging his or her personal risk

The Alaska Republican Party vows to "recruit" a challenger to Sen. Lisa Murkowski if she runs for reelection next year, but don't expect the Republican National Committee (RNC) or the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) to join the effort against the state's senior senator.
National party chair Ronna McDaniel emphasized to Fox News in January that "the RNC stays neutral in primaries for a very good reason. Because somebody has to be there to pick up the pieces of difficult primaries and help bring the party back together."

The number of illegal immigrants trying to jump the border is on pace for the highest rate in two decades, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Tuesday, delivering a sobering account just a day before he is to face Congress. He placed blame for the situation on Mexico’s lessening cooperation, on the conditions in other countries, on the coronavirus and on the Trump administration—but did not mention President Biden’s changes, which many migrants themselves are citing as their reason for coming now.
In particular, Mr. Mayorkas said the Trump team left “no plans” for protecting Border Patrol agents and others on the front lines

This correction in the “news” pages of the Washington Post a few days ago is simply stunning—and tells you all you need to know about the state of the mainstream media today:
“Two months after publication of this story, the Georgia secretary of state released an audio recording of President Donald Trump’s December phone call with the state’s top elections investigator. The recording revealed that The Post misquoted Trump’s comments on the call, based on information provided by a source. Trump did not tell the investigator to ‘find the fraud’ or say she would be ‘a national hero’ if she did so.

A bonus, if they contribute to defeating DeSantis, would be imploding his prospects as a 2024 Republican presidential candidate. Even the name, which sounds like a pest removal product, shows the depth of Democratic animosity toward the Republican governor. “We cannot let this man coast to re-election,” said Coral Springs Commissioner Joshua Simmons, one of the public leaders of the new effort. “He’s put his own political career above the welfare and well-being

After the dust continues to settle on last year’s presidential election with Americans slowly accepting Joe Biden as the 46th president of United States, Julie Kelly’s polemic against the Never Trump movement may seem like yet another instance of a political writer getting it wrong. When Democrats occupy the White House along with the House and Senate, it seems like those writers who opposed Donald Trump won the argument. They can point to the results and claim they knew Trump and his populism would eventually lead to losses and relegate the GOP to their current political quagmire.

The Centers for Disease Control guidelines on social distancing may be changing again after a new study shows six feet of distance to avoid the spread of Wuhan coronavirus may not be necessary.
During an interview with CNN over the weekend, Dr. Anthony Fauci acknowledged three feet of distance may be sufficient to reopen schools that remain closed.
"There's this new study from researchers in Massachusetts, just out this week, it found no significant difference of coronavirus spread in schools where there was six feet of distancing vs. three feet of distancing. But that six foot requirement, that's one of the main hurdles to reopening schools.

Comedian Bill Maher offered a blunt take on the U.S. vis-à-vis China, arguing America isn’t losing against its adversary, it’s already lost.
He began with a critique of the American people, whom he referred to as “silly,” and showed one of the now-banned Dr. Seuss books that had a caricature of a Chinese man. He said no one in China cares about it because “they are not a silly people.”
But Americans? “Half the country is having a woke competition deciding whether Mr. Potato head has a dick."

After a year now of dealing with the SARS-COV-2 virus, we have learned a great deal about the pandemic. The elusive goal has been to acquire herd immunity and have life go back to normal. However, our mainstream media and some governmental health authorities have ignored parts of the scientific picture that could help us understand herd immunity. They have placed excessive importance on vaccination as the only way to herd immunity. This is not entirely true. There is scientific data showing that we may be closer to herd immunity and the end of the pandemic than the media and government let on.

The influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has warned the US not to "cause a stink", as President Joe Biden prepares to set out his Korean policy.
