The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah and boasting powerhouse performers Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, BTS, Billie Eilish, Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion, drew a scant audience for CBS. This year’s telecast was the lowest-rated in Grammys history in the early numbers. Per Nielsen Live+Same Day fast-affiliate numbers, Music’s Biggest Night garnered an average of 7.88 million viewers for the network during the ceremony’s broadcast on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET with a 1.9 rating in adults 18-49.

Comments:

I used to look forward to watching the Grammys. Now I couldn't name even one "pop" hit on the charts.

At the risk of derision and being accused of musical snobbery, the names of the "artists" that I now know of or care about has dwindled to a mere handfull. There are a lot of different "genres" of musical catagories, but most have devolved away from my musical tastes. Overly political with most attention paid to 'flash' and attention getting instead of music. With the Oscar nominations coming out, which program will get lower ratings? By determining which nominee is more 'work' or anti-social, its easy to pick the "winners'-- very few could stand comparison to the truly great performances of yesteryear, but somebody has to "win"

I didn't watch the Grammys; what's that? Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic is all I can say about the Grammys. I watched their video on Bruno Mars' channel, the official and the one they did for this show. Throwback music making a heavy comeback with "Leave the Door Open." I've been listening to a looped GoogleTube version all day. You know it's got to be good! A little bit of EWF, Dramatics, Jacksons, Heatwave, Cameo, Bootsy Collins, AWB, Stylistics, ConFunShun, and a little bit of 70s Soft Rock! Here for it all day! Good music. The young people today (since the end of the 90s) don't know good music.

Forgot to mention that the young men in this group are all musicians. I've never seen them use backup dancers either. If they have dancing in their sets, they do it themselves. Anderson Paak is a singing drummer.

The parade organization took to social media on Sunday to share that the company's decision - announced in a newsletter on Friday - was 'the breaking point', even though Target was expected to sponsor the parade again this year.

Just the other day, a local technical college near Stuttgart, Germany, rang Kai Höss with alarming news. Someone had been etching swastikas on the doors of the loos. This followed a number of student protests against Israeli operations in Gaza. Might Kai give a talk to the students? He did not hesitate. Days later he was addressing a packed assembly, reading a first-hand account of scenes from the death camp at Auschwitz. [SNIP] Kai speaks with a unique authority. The author of those accounts was not some terrified witness. He was Kai's grandfather Rudolf Höss, commandant of Auschwitz.

The CIA has today revealed its belief that COVID-19 was likely leaked from a Chinese lab after years of denial under the Biden administration. A spokesperson for the agency said on Saturday that they now favor the lab theory. Officials said that there is no new evidence behind their shift in opinion - it is based on the same evidence they have been mulling over for months. 'CIA assesses with low confidence that a research-related origin of the COVID-19 pandemic is more likely than a natural origin based on the available body of reporting.

Mexican authorities blocked a US military plane from deporting illegal migrants on Thursday after President Trump's immigration crackdown began. US officials told NBC News that a jet filled with illegal immigrants bound for Mexico never took off after authorities south of the border rejected the move. The flight was one of three that were set to take off on Thursday, alongside two Guatemala-bound Air Force C-17s carrying over 150 people, as part of what Trump has described as the largest mass deportation effort in US history. Deporting migrants to foreign countries requires permission from the incoming nation's government, which Mexico declined on Thursday.

Less than a month into 2025, the ‘Year of the Snake’ is already living up to its ominous reputation. Now, some fear history is once again coiling to strike. Why? Donald Trump’s abrupt shift in tone towards the war in Ukraine.
