Disillusioned staffers are abandoning embattled Gov. Cuomo, sources said.
“I hear that most people aren’t even coming into work, and the offices at the Capitol are empty,” said one well-placed insider in touch with staffers in recent days.
“He’ll fight and fight and fight, but the staffers I’ve talked to are ready for him to hang up the gloves. Everyone feels like there is an inevitable conclusion — I mean at some point will Biden call on him to step down? They [staffers] just want this torture to stop.”

Maryland residents received some good news yesterday from Governor Larry Hogan. Starting at 5 pm on Friday, capacity limits were lifted for a wide range of businesses and social activities. These include both indoor and outdoor dining, retail outlets and churches. Gyms and bingo halls were also included, along with bowling alleys and skating rinks. Hogan credited the progress the state has made in vaccinating people and the continued decline in new COVID cases for the decision. Unfortunately for the people of Charm City, their new mayor was not a fan of Hogan’s decision. Brandon Scott immediately issued a statement saying that the current conditions did not warrant
Portland police detained a crowd of over 100 protesters during a Friday night demonstration, stemming a march only minutes after it began.
The mass detainment was an apparent use of kettling, a police tactic of surrounding a crowd and containing people within a perimeter. Police told the crowd they were detaining everyone within the boundary for the “investigation of a crime” but did not specify the nature of the alleged crime.
Demonstrators initially gathered in the Pearl District about 8:30 p.m. and started marching roughly a half-hour later. Police threatened to arrest protesters minutes after the march started

A New York State whistleblower says that another wrongheaded policy has cost lives to the state’s most vulnerable, and he blames Governor Andrew Cuomo.
In 2011, Jeff Monsour won a landmark federal jury trial for whistleblower retaliation after he disclosed abuses in New York state’s group homes. He told The American Conservative that he and Mike Carey, whose son died in a group home over fourteen years ago, have been warning everyone—including Gov. Cuomo—of the so-called floating policy and its deleterious effects on COVID spread in group homes.

The Federal Communications Commission designated five Chinese Communist Party-linked tech firms as “national security threats.”
Among the companies targeted by the ban are Huawei, ZTE, Hytera Communications Corp, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, and Dahua Technology Co.
“Such designations, which will extend to subsidiaries and affiliates of the targeted entities, are required under the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019,” South China Morning Post notes.

It’s truly unfortunate that it took this second scandal of sexual harassment to turn the tide against Cuomo. His first major scandal, forcing COVID-positive patients into the worst possible environment for the disease’s deadly spread — nursing homes — and then fudging the numbers to cover up virus deaths in those facilities, should have been more than enough for Democrats to call for his resignation.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler, who dominated boxing's middleweight division in the 1980s, has died at the age of 66, his wife Kay Hagler said on Saturday.
The cause of death was not immediately known. Celebrity website TMZ reported Hagler was taken to hospital in New Hampshire on Saturday with chest pains and trouble breathing.
Hagler, who legally changed his name to Marvelous in 1982, posted a record of 62-3-2 and ruled supreme until his reign as undisputed middleweight champion came to a controversial end in 1987 with a loss to Sugar Ray Leonard.

Gallup found these results especially concerning since those at highest risk of exposure to COVID-19—the professionals required to meet America’s health, safety, and critical economic needs whom the National Academies of Engineering, Science and Medicine define as “Tier 1A workers”—were the likeliest to refuse vaccination (34 percent).

The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan signed into law this week includes a welcome tax break for unemployed workers. The law waives federal income taxes on up to $10,200 in unemployment insurance benefits for people who earn under $150,000 a year, potentially saving workers thousands of dollars. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is remaining silent about the growing scandals surrounding New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who recently received an Emmy award from the group in recognition of his daily coronavirus press briefings.
Breitbart News reached out the academy for comment, but the organization hasn’t responded. As Breitbart News reported, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) issued a joint statement Friday in which they called on Cuomo to resign.

Police have clashed with Antifa protesters during a second consecutive night of unrest in Portland. The ugly scenes occurred Friday after a group of activists assembled to march against the Department of Homeland Security.
One local journalist claimed that between 100 and 150 protesters started making their way through the city's Pearl District before they began 'breaking the windows of businesses' and 'attacking' anyone who was filming them. Metro Police have released body cam and dash footage of a deadly shootout Friday morning involving a Metro officer and a woman. Officer Josh Baker is recovering at a Nashville hospital and is in stable condition. The woman, 31-year-old woman Nika Holbert, has died.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting took place in the parking lot at Dollar General on Brick Church Pike and Ewing Drive at about 9:30 this morning.
East Precinct Officer Josh Baker, a 14-year Metro police veteran and field training officer, was shot and is in stable condition after undergoing surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Metro police tweeted.

Watching Biden’s first official address to the nation on Thursday night, I was reminded of nothing so much as the life-like carved wooden Indians that, beginning in the 19th century, used to grace the sidewalk in front of the tobacconist’s store. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is warning President Joe Biden to clamp down on the uncontrolled migrant inflow at the U.S. border.
“They are rolling up their sleeves and working on this. I think it will get better in the next few months,” Schumer told ABC’s The View on Thursday, adding, “If it doesn’t, I will go to them and say, ‘You’ve got to do better.’ I will be public.”
Schumer is very pro-migration, but has adopted a cautious strategy towards migration legislation since 2014 when Democrats lost five Senate seats after voters punished them for Schumer’s 2013-14 “Gang of Eight” amnesty push.
