New York—For years, researchers have said a lack of diversity in Hollywood films doesn't just poorly reflect demographics, it's bad business. A new study by the consulting firm McKinsey & Company estimates just how much Hollywood is leaving on the table: $10 billion. The McKinsey report, released Thursday, analyzes how inequality shapes the industry and how much it ultimately costs its bottom line. The consulting firm deduced that the $148 billion film and TV industry loses $10 billion, or 7%, every year by undervaluing Black films, filmmakers and executives.(Snip) The BlackLight Collective, a coalition of Black executives and talent in the industry,

I never watch any entertainment and count the diverse people represented. If the character is good and the actor can act, that's all we need.

And how much revenue is lost because Hollywood hates half of all Americans? Post COVID movie attendance will not equal pre COVID numbers.

Yes, if there's anything I think these days, it's that there aren't enough Negroes on TV or in movies.

About all I can stand to watch now are cooking shows. I used to love to watch nature documentaries, but they were ruined by climate change propaganda all the time. Over the years, I have slowly collected a 200+ batch of DVDs and I find myself turning to them more often than not.

I will say the Eddie Murphy movie Dolemite is My Name on Netflix is good. It's kind of raunchy but it's has a good message at its core.

Diversity is not the problem. The crap Hollywood pumps out is the problem.

If they want diversity, why not put more white and Hispanic people in commercials? 90% of the commercials I see feature black actors.

It's the diversity that is destroying Hollywood... Think about it... They are more diverse than ever and they're losing money... Cause & Effect. This is what happens; Gay: Change channel. Tranny: Change Channel. Leftist Lecture: Change channel. Black hero VS White Villain: Change channel... Turn TV off... Read 1984 again....

And in my humbled opinion, this is where it all starts. Elitists - whether they are part of Hollywood, a politician, a celebrity, a sports figure, or whatever, are the ones that seem to have the problem with diversity.
And now comes along the idea of privilege. As far as I am concerned, the "privileged" people are the ones who escaped abortion. Quite honestly, identity politics has become so narrow and small-minded almost superficial that it is accomplishing just the opposite.
My identity is in who God created me to be. He gives me the privilege to be the person I am. . .

#5 check out OWN, Oprah Winfrey Network, for a load of black shows, usually in the evenings. But be prepared. Ads for one I saw the cotton field, another the front of the school in Little Rock. Same old, same old.

Somebody obviously cooked the numbers hugely to come up with this propaganda. I have avoided TV for two years and the movies for a much longer time due to the explosion of black shows, films and commercials. The shows are pitifully stereotypical and it seems that every commercial involves dancing and screaming. 99% of them can't come close to Sidney Poitier. Make it stop!

A European friend of mine asked if the US was 50% or more black. He was basing it on the movies, TV, and commercials he sees coming out of the US

There are several very interesting Chicom series available on the net, as well as Korean, Japanese, Thai and even African..... and all are entertaining, and 100% of them NEVER portray middle aged white men as being vicious predators!
Most Hollywood productions cr*p on American men. They are readily ignored!

Diversity is not a value. It is a condition. It has no inherent good. If it did, Japan would would be the scourge of the free world, for their lack of it.
The historic value of ethnic diversity in the US was to demonstrate that a broad spectrum of humankind could be united by universal values -- principally equal protection under the law.
The Left threw out the incredibly important and historic universal values and kept the diversity meme. Put simply, diversity is stupid.

Hollywood is losing money because they aren't making any decent movies lately. It seems all they do is have loud music, foul language and gratuitous sex scenes and poor remakes of the classic films.

#22, a lot of Americans believe the same thing for the same reason.
Blacks aren't even the largest minority in the U.S., about 6 points behind Hispanic. If it weren't for counting in more than once category, I think the gap would be larger.
