CNN agreed Tuesday to settle a lawsuit with Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann.
The amount of the settlement was not made public during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Covington, Kentucky.
Sandmann’s lawsuit sought $800 million from CNN, the Washington Post and NBC Universal.

I hope part of the settlement allows Nick to make on screen appearances and bang a drum in front of Anderson Cooper's face.

This may start an avalanche that pays well and settles nothing.

Does this mean the war on fake news will be won in the courtroom?

If they're seeking to punish CNN and the rest of the media, an $800 million lawsuit is way, way, too low.
As Eddie Murphy said in "Trading Places." the way to get back at rich people is to make them into poor people. One of the greatest lines in movie history.

AT&T owns CNN. I would bet that some attorneys at AT&T have seen the emails that were zooming around CNN regarding the confrontation. As soon as the judge ruled that the trial can proceed to discovery, the AT&T lawyers advised that a quiet out of court settlement would be the best solution for CNN. Take the financial hit and STFU.
After all, only Felonious von Pantsuit can delete emails and not go to jail.

I hope there are a lot of trailing zeroes in the settlement amount.

This young man, and his lawyers, are going to be extremely rich after they are done suing all of the news organizations.

Democrat political leaders, likely led by their like minded cohorts in the msm, have divided this country, pitting tens of millions of Americans against tens of millions of their fellow citizens. Where is this all going to end?

Devin Nunes and Carter Page are waiting in the wings for their checks as well. Should be a bad day in the AT&T WarnerMedia boardroom if this becomes a trend. How can shareholders continue to trust this company that is so reckless with the public airways.
The Babylon Bee satire site has a very funny article about how CNN complained that the Bee published a satirical story (that's the point of their site) claiming that Democrats had asked for flags to be flown at half mast for Soleimani. CNN was complaining that the Bee was unfairly competing with their fake news business and there wasn't room on the internet for another fake news outlet.

The Babylon Bee site is the funniest thing on the internet these days. I'd love to see them turn this into a TV show. Call it "Saturday Right Live (SRL)".
