Spiritual guru and author Marianne Williamson topped the Drudge Report’s instant straw poll following the second 2020 Democrat presidential debate in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday night. An early count shows Williamson garnered nearly 48 percent of the vote, while former Rep. John Delaney (D-MD) came in second place with 11 percent. Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) came in third and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) placed fourth with roughly 6 percent each. Williamson stole the show with several breakout moments. The author received raucous applause

Now that the threat of impeachment has dwindled away to nothing, the time has come to clear the decks for 2020 by removing all further impediments, obstacles, and annoyances from the path of Donald Trump. A crucial part of this effort will be closing the book on all further criticism of DJT’s tweets. We have all seen no end of pieces criticizing, condemning and apologizing for Trump’s use of the tweet as his major weapon for undermining the left-wing media monopoly, driving his opponents into a frenzy, and striking fear and confusion into the left. In truth, seldom if ever are Trump’s tweets mentioned

Senator Ted Cruz is pressuring Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to quickly deliver a tax cut to investors by indexing capital gains to inflation, a move that he said would encourage savings, investment and innovation. Cruz, along with 20 other Senate Republicans, are sending a letter to Mnuchin on Monday urging him to index the tax on gains made from real estate, stocks or bonds so investors would pay less when selling an asset than they would under existing law.

If you ask any Romanian, this twenty-year period was one of the most tyrannical and oppressive regimes in its known history. It was a painful period of dark and repressive communist dictatorship maintained and characterized by brute force, fear, mental control, and constant food rationing. The young pioneers, communists in training, “soimii patriei” (The Country’s Eagles), euphemistically “named” by Ceausescu himself, adopted the motto “Tot inainte,” (Ever Forward). A pioneer’s guide indoctrinated them how to behave as young communists. It seems that both communists and Socialist Democrat lefties are very fond of pathetic euphemisms which misrepresent reality.

There was one grown-up onstage last night in Detroit, trying to tether his party to reality. Unless John Delaney’s candidacy catches fire, the Democrats will match straight towards the disaster that Rahm Emanuel cautioned them about Monday: Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel warned Democratic presidential contenders Monday not to “win the nomination in a way that forecloses a path to victory in the general election.” (snip) For his trouble, Delaney received a rebuke from Elizabeth Warren, who asked him why bother to run for president if you’re not going to offer fantasy? Homer's Odyssey hero Achilles gained fame with his reckless attacks. He was able to be so reckless because his vulnerability was small when compared to his giant frame. While the GOP continues to enjoy its strong base and enthusiasm, it also has an Achilles heel: its lack of effective opposition research. Governor Northam exposed this weakness back in February when pictures of him from his medical school's 1984 yearbook emerged naming him as a figure either dressed in KKK garb or in clichéd and racist blackface. Democratic candidates for the 2020 nomination have promised more than $210 trillion in new spending across the field, analysis by the Washington Free Beacon shows. Of the 26 declared candidates—including Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) who dropped out earlier this month—most have put enormous new government programs front and center in their campaigns. Totaling up these proposals gives taxpaying voters a sense of the budget priorities of the average Democratic candidate. That overall figure is an undercount, as it is based only on proposals for which the Free Beacon could identify actual spending

Elizabeth Warren lacks the stones to dominate the left lane of the Democratic presidential primaries. We know this because tonight, at the Detroit debate, she equivocated on whether her "Medicare for all" plan would raise taxes on the middle class. At least Bernie Sanders, the original socialist of the Senate, was willing to admit it. Middle class Americans would pay "less out of pocket," Warren asserted, contradicting every financial evaluation of a plan that would overturn the employer-sponsored, private health insurance plans of 150 million Americans and replace it with a Medicare package featuring benefits far more generous than the public system in its existing form.

Of the ten participants in tonight’s Democratic presidential debate, only two — Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders — have a realistic hope of being nominated. Thus, we might have expected that these two would clash, the way we expect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to lock horns tomorrow night. But that didn’t happen. It was the debate that wasn’t. The debate that was turned out to be Sanders-Warren versus three less extreme candidates — no-hopers all — who attacked from the right. John Delaney was the most effective of the trio, but John Hickenlooper and Tim Ryan had their moments. The attacks gave Warren and Sanders the opportunity to double-down

The impeachment show needs to be suspended and sent back for rewrites — or better yet, canceled entirely. I use the word “show” deliberately, because that is what it has become. In the most recent episode of House Democrats vs. President Trump, pro-impeachment members were hoping special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony would provide the boost the show needed. “Nobody reads the book,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said in a widely repeated line, referring to the Mueller report, “but everybody will watch the movie.” The problem is the Mueller episode was boring, and the same folks

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts emerged as the clear winner in the Democratic presidential primary debate Tuesday night, as she and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont battled for dominance in the far-left lane against eight more moderate candidates on stage. Warren controlled the discussion on implementing a single-payer health care system and also was the foremost candidate advocating for decriminalizing illegal border crossings. A clear divide emerged between Warren and Sanders on the far left and the more moderate candidates, with South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota standing out.

Newsom insists the law is constitutional, but it will almost certainly face a challenge in federal court. The law does not name a specific candidate, but opponents say it's a partisan ploy meant aimed at President Trump. They argue removing Trump's name from the ballot

North Korea has fired two new short-range ballistic missiles, almost exactly a week after it tested two other missiles in an attempt to put pressure on the US to halt upcoming military drills with South Korea and restart nuclear disarmament talks. The two missiles fired Wednesday were launched at 5.06am and 5.27am local time from near the city of Wonsan on North Korea's east coast - the same area where last week's tests were conducted. South Korea said the missiles flew 155 miles out to sea at a maximum altitude of about 19 miles and appeared to be a different type from previous launches.
