No reader of my previous comments on the subject would expect surprise from me about the verdict of the Mueller report. No one nominated by a major political party to the presidency of the United States would have dreamed of cooperating with any foreign power to influence a U.S. presidential election. Aaron Burr, who was thought to be running for vice president but ended by opportunistically challenging Jefferson for president, requiring that the House of Representatives determine the victor,

Some great historical background in the article, but the "ever before" is inaccurate.
Mr. Black forgot to mention the events of November 22, 1963

Yes, this was a close one, but I don´t think it´s over. I think the leftists are even more enraged and demented now and even more desperate. I don´t think they will go quietly respecting any laws. I expect to see more extreme action from them. I don´t know what but I expect things to get worse.

Senator Edward Kennedy met with Kremlin Officials and asked for them to aide in his campaign for President.
He asked them to embarass the Republican Presient.
This is established fact.

Disagree with the second sentence. That is exactly what Illary did. And she needs to pay the price.

I think the U.S. was closer to having another civil war if Trump was found guilty of anything. Those in Congress and in D.C. in general should be counting their lucky stars Mueller found nothing. It probably saved their lives.

I hope Mr. Black can explore the failed coup attempt in better detail as new facts fall in our lap.
Take for instance this WSJ article:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/mueller-exposes-spy-chiefs-11553555713
Why is this Murdoch tabloid trying to put limits on who the spies were....? What about the BRITISH OPERATIVES, Rupert!!
Mifsud, Halper, Hannigan, the Aussie, Downer--no mention in today´s WSJ.

I still believe the middle core of bad actors involved in the attempted coup should face the legal wrath and punishment for what they conspired to do. The path would lead to Hillary Clinton and the DNC. Barack Obama not so much. The low IQ idiot just signed off on it during his watch. Obama is shiftless, lazy and not very smart to dream up a complicated web like this. Time will take care of him.
President Trump doesn´t need to make this look like a witch hunt on the people that hate him there is work to be done for the country.
My problem is with Rosenstein and Mueller still in the legal orb of Trump´s administration. I see them as traitors and executors of this attempted coup against the President and Americans.

The left wont stop trying to remove Trump from office until he leaves office. We still have another 2-6 six years of this to look forward too.

We have a unique opportunity to pivot from a path that will end in our destruction. I don´t think our progressive neighbors get it, or will get it. My hope is that non-progressives, all who wish to preserve the republican form of government and not transform into a democracy or the communist state which would result from a democratic state voting away their neighbors rights, will make the pivot. That pivot requires that we recognize that we are at war and we have been called upon to fight it. If we don´t do it now the chances for that war to be one without substantial bloodshed diminish every day.

Conrad Black is like those nuclear scientists moving the clock hands on their magazine cover to illustrate the threat of an atomic wipe-out. While it appears he is moving the minute hand back, the coup continues.
The Dems will use their House majority and committee chairmenships to subpoena, hector, and otherwise harass PDT over crimes and misdemeanors from obstruction of justice to abuse of power to accepting emoluments to spitting on the sidewalk.
They will drag in his family, particularly Junior and Ivanka.
They will examine his business dealings and tax returns, given a chance.
They will drag in anyone associated with his campaign as a clear message to anyone contemplating same in 2020.
After a simmering summer, things begin to get serious, they will produce a draft set of articles of impeachment to wave around.
In the meantime, DJT is paying the legal bills, not the US government. His defense will be costly, and the price will include all of the above...maybe even an impeachment vote by the House in late fall, dump it on the Senate just in time for the primaries.
This is their last push. D-Day was weeks ago. The Mueller report is already being referenced for the obstruction charges. It´s all coming together for a political Armageddon.

The next move is up to President Trump. He was the target.
Not sure the best way to go after it. Definitely need evidence and proof. Don´t want to see another Special Counsel after the Mueller debacle. Not sure the Justice Department is clean enough to run a real investigation.
Agree that the Coup is not over. The people involved don´t want to stop. They are tyrants, and think they are above the law and have no regard for it. Strongly suspect their is a lot of big money (both American and foreign) behind them.

And what would one call the eight years of a fraudulent administration fronted by the ineligible and unvetted Barry the Fraud if not a coup?
No one nominated by a major political party to the presidency of the United States would have dreamed of cooperating with any foreign power to influence a U.S. presidential election.
Has he not heard of Hillary Clinton? She would have been in the Russkies pocket (she already was - Uranium One) from Day 1 if she had been elected. How about Ted the Swimmer approaching Moscow (KGB head Viktor Chebrikov) in 1984 through an intermediary to assist in the defeat of Pres. Reagan.

America’s society and history deserve an honest, simple narrative to this coup attempt. Considering how many Americans have risked and lost life and limb in the defense of freedom, they also deserve to see justice done. Gitmo and gallows, s’il vous plait.

It was a coup attempt, absolutely. Now we need to round up the plotters and give them their cigarettes and their blindfolds, run them up against a wall.
Sadly, we are too "civilized" now to do what is necessary.
