There is simply no other way to state this.
Nearly everything we’ve been told about models, rates of infection, deaths, and recoveries was inaccurate.
I’m not here to argue that it was malfeasance or ignorance — both are unacceptable. But the one thing that Governor Andrew Cuomo’s stunning announcement made clear on Thursday is that there are some pretty shocking — and what should be — reassuring truths.
Cuomo announced that antibody testing in New York state, which only began four days previous, was already demonstrating that at minimum 13.9% of New Yorkers, had COVID-19 late stage antibodies.

And yet, they are continuing the shutdown by using fear. It was shocking how the people just obeyed the hype and allowed the government to shut them down, now I find it sad.

Back to work, now.

I think people should become more knowledgeable about models; what they are as well as what they are not. How they are developed, refined or completely reconstructed. For some reason the term "model" seems to imply to some people that the construct is supposed to be infallible and that one developed in one set of circumstances applies to all or many others. To top it off, if the model does not predict with unerring accuracy what is actually occurring the cause must be due to a deep dark conspiracy. The last pandemic was more than 100 years ago. Caused by a different disease. As someone recently pointed out "you go to war with the army you have". People are entitled to their opinions; it would be refreshing if just once in awhile they were informed opinions.

Indeed we have been had but one truth remains and it would be easy to lose sight of it in the sea of lies. This thing spreads fast. A garden variety flu, which by the way kills tens of thousands every year in the US, with the speed of COVID 19, could overwhelm the capacity the healthcare resources. And CV has an element of the unknown which is good reason to be. All the gruesome stories of how horrible this is could be told every year.
Had we taken reasonable precautions, the 6ft thing, perhaps cut seating capacity down in restaurants, taken the temps of workers in public settings daily, all stayed home when we felt me might be getting something, stayed home two weeks after any illness, I think we would have been fine without killing the economy.
I do wonder one thing however; without getting B-slapped to attention would we as a nation have taken this seriously enough to make those adaptations? I will say they got out attention now and we absolutely could roll back to reasonable precautions and go back to work.

There are about a dozen people in my extended family who were very sick with flu-like symptoms in January including one who is 77 and has other health issues. They all recovered and are fine now. I was exposed to one of them at the time but was never sick. Was it Covid19?
A lot of us have believed all along that this was hyped up BS brought to us by the Chicoms and the American left to hurt our economy and thereby hurt President Trump. The Chicoms would like to see him defeated just as much as Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler et al. Time to end the BS.
BTW, #1, it is sad and it reminds me of Boston after the marathon bombing when citizens there blithely opened their doors to SWAT teams and let them search their homes and properties without so much as a “please” much less a search warrant.

There's gold in them thare COVID relief packages. Where there are trillions of $$$ being dished out, there is fraud and abuse. And the government figure heads have figured out how to mine those relief packages. And begin testing out means to control their subjects. If the Democrats ever get full control of the governments, life in the United States will become the Black Mirror TV series.

#9, even that .75% has 91% comorbidity and outright fraud and dishonesty in reporting. The actual rate of incremental deaths is perhaps .2% or less. WE HAVE BEEN HAD!

#9 -- They (MSM, Dems) don't care. They don't want a game changer, they want to bring this country to its knees so they can oust Trump. It's really that simple. And, to take it one step further...the purpose of ousting Trump is so they regain complete power.

Bingo, #4. The modern American medical model has created more sick people than it has cured, mostly through the unbridled us of pharmaceuticals. Now, we see that this virus that may be taking advantage of the weakened state that our very own medical community has put us in. One report labeled 60% of the US population as being “at-risk.” That is an astounding and shameful statistic.

When all is said and done, they'll say we screwed ourselves over as far as our liberty and economy as concerned all because of something almost as dangerous as the common cold.
I don't blame the dimocrats as much as I blame us-- for being sheep.

Well #3 when models are the end all and be all of public policy decision making and are used by career bureaucrats and our scientific betters to bully and even intimidate with law enforcement business owners into shutting down, I'd say they move past some benign scientific tool and turn into a authoritarian bludgeon. I know your opinion of us here is that we are uneducated rubes but you don't really need an alphabet soup after your name to see the numbers have and continue to be massaged for political purposes.

For a disease that spreads faster and easier than the flu by majority asymptomatic carriers, there was never going to be a "flattening of the curve" to any great extent. It looks like the "low hanging fruit" model is the right one. Now it's time to identify what makes the fruit hang low.
I am in my 60s and I have not taken any special precautions. I am sure I have already had the infection months ago. My China related work almost guarantees it. The flu that was not a flu, cold that was not a cold, was going around. Brought back to us by my co-workers. Back then we thought COVID-19 was only in Wuhan and that it killed everybody.

I don't blindly trust the tests. What is it testing for, can they be sure its only COVID-19 or can other similar corona viruses set it off?

Isn't it possible also that some people are immune because they had the flu or other viruses that allowed them to develop antibodies?

As I've said numerous time to people that Eff things up...
Did you mess this up on purpose or are you incompetent?
This of course elicits negative responses and my reply is, please answer which option applies.
Another point is also relative.
Never, Never let someone that Created the problem be part of any solution.
You guessed it, they were either acting out of incompetence or did it on purpose.
I see this same thing going on with all the 'Experts', especially in the Media.
'Nuff Said!

I have some experience in models. In my opinion #3, they were useless. You know the saying, garbage in garbage out. In some cases a nerd with a second grade education could put a model together. The highly educated idiot that put together the end of life COVID-19 model that was so inaccurate that he should be in jail. Economies all over the world crashed and burned. Then the highly educated morons (Fauci and Brix) bought into it and convinced our President that life is going to end. All of these highly educational idiots views life through a very narrow window. This was the biggest mistake of all time and someone needs to be held accountable.

#4..I think you are right. I have been taking a generic for my heart condition for years. Recently my insurance carrier swapped it for another manufacturer of the generic. I had a horrendous reaction. Fortunately I found a pharmacy that carried the drug I was originally taking. The pharmacy was out of network so my insurance would not pay for it.
Also how many people with a bad heart have died from the cold or flu. They get sick, it gets worse, they get pneumonia and die.

What antibody test has yet proved to be able to distinguish with accuracy between antibodies from covid-19 and antibodies from the many other coronaviruses? Researchers trying a similar test in Santa Clara warned us not to read too much into the results, because it had not adequately isolated antibodies specific to covid-19. (Some patients who had influenza or a cold were registering positive in the antibody test.)

To answer #23, There are specific proteins isolated for COVID-19. Flu virus and Rhinovirus are very different from Coronavirus. Common Human Coronavirus does cause symptoms that may be called the cold or the flu. So does SARS-CoV-2.
So there is uncertainty, but not from the unrelated viruses.
Antibodies to Human Coronavirus may protect for the Wuhan virus.

My theory is the Corona virus, covid19 is a mutation of another other viruses, like Sars and the common cold, both corona viruses. The world population, more than likely, has built up antibodies in their immune system over the decades. Covid 19 is hybrid and has many of their same qualities but is far more deadly to some. Most virologists use other viruses to find a vaccine for another virus. Perhaps in doing so, they invented something in the laboratory far worse. Just a thought.
If you're interested in genes, there's a great production on PBS calledThe Gene. It's excellen t. I watched it from my computer and it's better than watching Fox News 2/7. I recommend it highly.
