House Republicans are pushing to bar any person or business associated with the Chinese Communist Party from purchasing agricultural land in the United States, an effort gaining traction on the Hill as lawmakers look to retaliate against China over its spy-balloon incursion.
Reps. Dan Newhouse (R., Wash.) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R., Wash.), alongside more than 40 cosponsors, last week proposed legislation that would prohibit any purchase of public or private agricultural real estate in the United States and its territories by "nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, or any agent, trustee, or fiduciary associated with the Government of the People's Republic of China."

China pushed Biden to ban gas stoves...because in a war, it will be far easier for them to knock out the power grid.

Make that any land in the United States of America.

The Swiss learned that lesson long ago. You have to be a citizen to own land. I doubt they took in many immigrants either. Gotta protect those in Davos!

I guess we need to place a very high property tax on Chinese owned land.

China is very familiar with the evils of starvation and they would like nothing more than to give the white-privileged US a taste of it. Confiscate the land they have bought under false pretenses and dare them to do something about it - but remove Biden from office first - they would only laugh.

The blame lies squarely on those making US land policy.
The Chinese make a very convenient scapegoat in this case.
Our 'leadership' comes with a very cheap price tag.

We should prevent China from owing any farmland in the United States, and the federal government should by eminent domain acquire the fee title to China's farmlands, but it's absurd to assert that China could starve us. China owns 0.043% of our farmland.
"From 2000 onwards, the total area of land in U.S. farms has decreased annually, aside from a small increase in 2012. Over the time period displayed, the total farmland area has decreased by almost 50 million acres, reaching a total of 895.3 million acres as of 2021." https://www.statista.com/statistics/196104/total-area-of-land-in-farms-in-the-us-since-2000/

Seriously? Tough decision...like "Roman Senate debates whether to allow Attila the Hun to own farm land outside city gates, sold by Nero's son."

#8 asked the Right Question! WHO is selling this Farmland? Is it the Farmers who own it? Or is it a Realtor who bought the Farmland from the Farmers (who probably owned it for Generations)?. A Crooked Realtor could make a HUGE profit by selling to China. The Farmers who live nearby could probably answer that question as they too most likely have been approached by the Crooked Realtor to see if they would be interested in selling! Time for Congress to pass a Law forbidding the sale of ANY Land in this Country to China (or any other Foreign Country). Then, send China the money they paid for the land already purchased and tell them it is unlawful for them to own property in our Country just as it's unlawful for US to Own property in China. No Negotiation! The Land is ours and China can pound sand if they don't like it!

How many acres of agricultural land are now sitting beneath solar panels and can no longer be used to grow food? How many more acres will be used that way.?

How many more clues does Congress need that China's nefarious plans include conquest from within? They have their hands in everything, are buying up our land, spying on us constantly, creating deadly viruses to let loose on us. What's next? Swoop in after an EMP blast and mop up our country with the CCP? Trump was absolutely right about China being our biggest threat. Meanwhile, what is Congress actually doing beside proposing legislation? Are they making the case for their legislation or just throwing it on the table with no info to present to legislators?

Seize all farmland held by chinese nationals. Pay them fair market value. Retain Federal ownership, but allow its use by qualified sharecroppers.

The purchase of US agricultural land should be limited to US citizens and US entities. That’s just common sense.

How would Chinese land owners "protect" their property or haul it back to China? Land "ownership" by foreigners is a bit of a mirage; it's more like a rental arrangement. Americans can take their money but they cannot take the American's dirt and/or bedrock, only use it until Americans say otherwise.

U.S. citizens can’t buy property in Mexico. That makes sense. Too bad, we don’t have good sense.

China should be prevented from buying our meat processing plants. They own Smithfield Foods and some poultry processing plants. There are probably some more we don't know about. I see a problem with them having police precincts in New York and other US states. Our country is being handed over to China without a fight.

Starved to death; frozen, or heat stroke? Take your pick. If you are offered a SMART item for your home, refuse it. Thermostats, Televisions, refrigerators, stoves, etc. Check out the thousands of people in Colorado unable to adjust ''Smart thermostats'' in September of 2022. Part of global governance to come, I expect.

Who are the anti-American dipwads shortsighted and stupid enough to sell our much-needed farmland to an enemy bent on destroying us? Make zero mistake the CCP is hell bent on replacing my beloved country on the world's stage as the lone superpower. That regime would like nothing more to have us returned to the dark ages. We must NEVER allow that to happen. Period! That is all.
