Former President Donald Trump has reportedly been referring to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as "Meatball Ron" ahead of the latter's expected 2024 White House bid.
Trump has insulted the popular Florida governor in casual conversations, per the New York Times, describing him as "Meatball Ron," a likely jab at his appearance, and "Shutdown Ron," for his actions putting restrictions in place at the beginning of the COVID-19

Former President Trump is often his won worst enemy. He often says things before thinking them through and how the messages he spouts off will be received.
It must be remembered that even though there were a LOT of irregularities in the 2020 election that the other side GPT AWAY WITH, people don't care about it like he does.
I must also be remembered that MILLIONS of persons really weren't all the hot about the Vegetable and voted for him and Kamala word salad, but VOTED AGAINST TRUMP.
There are quite a few people now who feel like Trump had his turn and its time for a fresh face who is not a verifiable RiNOcrat.
Like so many who worshipped the ground NoBama walked on, there are tremendous amounts of person who likewise worship the ground Trump walks on. Neither one of them is a Savior

The NYTimes is privy to "private" conversations??
That ridiculous bit of manufactured reporting asude, I don't care what Trump calls Ron privately. I'm sure Ron has some choice names for Trump, as well. What I care about is using the names publicly, and I want that to stop.

The NYT is the paid voice of the Democratic progressives. Here they're just stirring up some whatever.
Personally I'm not in a hurry for DeSantis to leave Tallahassee for DC; 2028 is soon enough. Meanwhile, Reagan's 11th Commandment should apply.

4, you nor anyone else has any idea who voted for whom and why in 2020 or any other election.
The mind reading devices haven't been installed at the voting booths, yet.
Anyone who voted against the best economy, no new wars and everything else good that happened because of some "mean tweets" should have their voting rights revoked.
I'm an adult. I care about things like wars and inflation, not silly social media nonsense.

Why add the word privately if you're gonna release this article to the public?
Something doesn't smell right with this - I'm not gonna believe there is strife between Trump and DeSantis..
Can't believe Trump would be so unhinged or feel so threatened by DeSantis that Trump would relentlessly attack DeSantis (who hasn't even announced his intentions)
Also I remember reading the DeSantis team decided the best strategy to deal with so-called Trump attacks is to ignore them.

To my knowledge, only one of those men has been attacking and name calling the other. Only one of those men have acted like an adult. Hint: The one doing the attacking lost an election for mean tweets. The other won re-election by 19 points in a state where the margin is normally 1-3 points.

That Trump's private verbal indiscretion has been publicly broadcast once again shows his failure to hire faithful aides. Such plagued his initial Presidency and may well torpedo another.

The first time around it was new and inspiring, but after a while even we, his supporters were cringing. This time - he needs to show he's grown and learned. This is not demonstrating that. DeSantis is a worthy opponent. DeSantis is not the enemy, not a meatball. DeSantis is one of us.

i have seen very little of Ron DeSantis.. not my business..

#12 makes very valid points. When Democrats have to overcome the popularity of a very good, opposing candidate, it is a challenge and a struggle. Donald Trump is not doing himself any favors with comments like these. . .

If Trump keeps this up, he'll find that his attempt to return to the White House will short circuit. Republican voters are in no mood for infighting amongst their candidates. Focus on the real enemies of this country. The demoslut party.

If true, it's very childish from a grown man. I accepted the 'mean' tweets getting back at the demoslut name callers during FPDT's term, but Gov. DeSantis has been a gentleman all the way. Mostly, I don't believe this, because I consider the source!

After the appearance of the Times article, and the resulting reaction, Trump publicly responded to the story....
“All of the Fake News is reporting that I spend large amounts of my time coming up with a good ‘nickname’ for Ron DeSanctimonious, who is obviously going to give the presidential ‘thing’ a shot. They are all 100% wrong, I don’t even think about it — A very unimportant subject to me!!!”
(Mostly true: That's a denial of spending any amount time coming up with nicknames, not the nickname itself.)

Firstly, I don't believe a word of this story, but even so, Trump could publicly call me any name in the book and I wouldn't care. Would still vote for him in a heartbeat so long as he does not abandon America First, no new wars, energy independence. strong borders, free enterprise, full employment, and a booming economy. Yes, that is what he gave us. How soon people forget! Sick of all the critics with delicate sensibilities. Go swoon in Canada - sure you'd be more comfortable there where the PM has nice manners and slick hair.

And this, in a nutshell (no pun intended) is why neither my husband nor I, Trump voters twice and financial backers, will not vote for the man this round--or ever. No matter how effective his policies, and they were, he can't keep his mouth shut and his ego under wraps. He lost us Ga. TWICE, got rid of a good candidate in Pa., etc. He pretty much (along with abortion for the 20/30 somethings) destroyed what SHOULD have been a Red Wave, just because some very decent candidates wouldn't jump on the "I won the election" bandwagon ---and we ended up with Herschel Walkers! I fully expect the same destructive, juvenile behavior in the Primary and a Bull Moose candidacy if he doesn't win. It is all about The Donald, and not about us. He would rather the country be destroyed if he doesn't win. ALL ABOUT HIM! We need a Trump WITHOUT the sniping, the nastiness, the ego.

I heard many times...I won't vote for Trump because of his "mouth." He has no manners. On and on. WE, me included did vote for Trump. Someone told me...people don't understand what he says. Oh yes we did get it. Understood completely. Do these knot-heads understand what THEY did? We got Biden. We got no more gas stoves or heaters. We got oil turned off and we're driving around with $5.00 gas. IRS intrusion into our bank accounts. Afghanistan. China, Russia to name a few. I'd rather have a big mouth governing our country than have a socialist, communist country. One where we could say what we want. Believe what we want. Only one problem that never gets fixed...those Americans who are unjustly held in jail for Jan 6. No legal help. Hidden away from us. Where are the loud mouthed lawyers who are not, in my opinion, putting an end to this horror.
Hope you all can sleep at night, you Trump haters. In the next months of this year, what have YOU done to stop this.

And we’re off to the nickname races. If FPDT wants to talk about COVIDS response, I’m sure Desantis will enjoy talking about Fauci, Blix and their “threesome” at the outset with the father and promoter of vaccinations with Operation Warp Speed and his public boosters. And how about the $14 TRILLION response to this crisis, signed and distributed by FPDT?
