Zola, who is 73 and white, wanted to live among Black and brown people.(Snip)She embarked on a hunger strike on behalf of one of the most ambitious and elusive goals of the U.S. racial justice movement: reparations — or making amends through payments or policy — to Black people for slavery.Bright-eyed and energetic during a recent interview, Zola has made it to Day 32 of her all-liquid diet of

Comments:

She's free to live her life the way she choses but taxpayers should not be forced to pay reparations. Also, an all liquid diet is not a hunger strike

Emotional blackmail is a standard tactic of the left. If she dies for this unworkable, unconstitutional, unjust, and overall bad idea, I may feel sorry for her, but I will not feel responsible.

Most people try to hide their mental illness. Rachelle Zola is shouting hers from the rooftop and putting it out there for all to see!!! Starve away, honey. My family on both sides didn't come to this country until the beginning of the 20th century. We neither owned slaves, or were even in this country when slaves were owned. My tax dollars do not need to pay reparations for anything that neither myself or anyone in my family had anything to do with!!!

The slave owners were Democrats. The KKK was started by Democrats. Jim Crow laws were the invention of Democrats. Liberals are far more racist, anti-semitic, intolerant and hateful than conservatives. So let them pay and if this lunatic wants to starve herself until they do, I’m ok with it. My great-great-grandfather was a Yankee who fought in the Civil War. Where are my reparations?

My ancestors were loyal to the Throne in the 1770's in Connecticut. Their estates were taken from them and they were housed in an abandoned silver mine until the British government bailed them out and gave them land in Upper Canada (Ontario). They then had to start from scratch. Not looking for reparations, thank you.

My abolitionist great-great grandfather was lynched by a mob in southern Illinois in 1845. He left a family of nine behind. Can all his descendants get in on this reparations bandwagon? We are still suffering because of slavery, I think.

I have no time for this mentally ill communist. Let her commit suicide with her hunger strike. We have too many of them around the country anyway. I have done a lot of genealogy on my family and none were slave owners. Even if there were some, that would have been out of my control because it would have been 150 years ago. I don't own the black community one dime, same as they don't owe me anything.

I'm a direct blood descendent of John Brown the Abolitionist . If they get money by being a descendent of slaves, don't I get a pass for being a descendent of an abolitionist? Only seems fair. I presume that she thinks that people will be so worried about her starving to death that they will suddenly decide to support reparations. She's got another think coming if that's her idea. My solid view that reparations were paid in the 1860s won't change, regardless of her health status, alive, dead or whatever. Holding yourself hostage depends on others valuing you. Sorry, I just don't.

She should start a Reparations Fund. The "Repi Fuind." All imbibers can hand over their assets to be disbursed in reparations. You have savings? Give them to the Repi Fund. A house? Um, a car, but feel you don't deserve it, the Repi Fund is there do redistribute it for you. Start small with your Iphone. Hand it over to the Repi Fund, and we will convert it into reparations. If all the people who believe in reparations do this, well, nothing will happen because the notion of reparations is futile. But they will feel better and not be hypocrites! Hey. I've yet to get my reparations from Egypt, Spain, the Catholic Church, Czarist Russia, Communist Russia, Nazi Germany, every place with a majority Islamic population, and a few other places and people. When I get mine, we can talk about theirs. As if they are the only people to ever have suffered at the hands of another. They're not special. If public schools taught history instead of about alphabet soup people's issues they'd know that.

Note to subject Rachelle: Heels-Up Harris' grandfather, or great grandfather started Browntown in Jamaica, and owned -not all at one time, more like 200 or so at a time- something like 1,000 to 1,100 slaves. You want reparations, go demand 'em from HER! (By the way, she's a Leftist.... you won't get ANYTHING from HER!) All my working career I had to overcome 'Affirmative Action', where people who belonged to various groups favored by the federal government were given preference in hiring and preference in promotion at the expense of the group that I happened to be a member of. I got cr@pped on for 30 years...... but I overcame the offsets stacked against me by getting an education, doing the hard work, and getting the needed results. Where's MY 'Reparations'? Bottom line: This 'Reparations' nonsense is all BOVINE SCATOLOGY!

Newsmax released an article this week that gives voice to further distrust of America’s once-premiere law enforcement agency. The column was based on a series of questions and concerns presented by Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) regarding the still murky details around the January 6th storming of the Capitol building. Two questions lobbed at the FBI are both haunting and disheartening: “What did the FBI know? And when did they know it?” The fact that the agency responsible for investigating the lawlessness of that date is itself under scrutiny is alarming.

President Joe Biden signed a law Thursday to make 'Juneteenth National Independence Day' a federal holiday, starting from tomorrow. 'Juneteenth marks both the long, hard night of slavery and subjugation and a promise of a brighter morning to come,' Biden said at the White House signing ceremony, surrounded by Democratic and Republican guests. 'This is a day of profound weight and profound power, a day in which we remember the moral stain and the terrible toll that slavery took on the country - and continues to take.' On Wednesday night, the House of Representatives passed the bill with 14 Republicans voting against it. In the Senate,

Football star Megan Rapinoe and actress and producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas are joining Victoria's Secret in what the lingerie giant is calling a "dramatic shift" for the brand. They are among several new faces who will help promote the brand which is best known for its lingerie-clad models known as Angels. Victoria's Secret still generates billions of dollars in sales. However, its hyper-sexualised image has fallen out of fashion in recent years. Ms Rapinoe and Ms Chopra Jonas will form part of "The VS Collective" a group of women who will work with the company on "collaborations, business partnerships and cause-related initiatives".

The election of 2020 is going to lay bare the dereliction of the Supreme Court for all to see. The COVD-19 pandemic gave numerous state election officials an excuse to implement far-reaching changes to our election processes. Those changes obviously made our systems vulnerable to fraud. States implemented massive mail-in balloting at the same time they relaxed ballot security and voter identification. They even extended the voting periods -- to give the criminals more time to commit their fraud. All these changes were unconstitutional. (snip) The Supreme Court declined to get involved.

The Confederate battle flag, which was crafted as a symbol of opposition to the abolishment of slavery, is just recently tired. We don’t see it much anymore. However, on the 6th, when the stormers rained on the nation’s most precious hut, waving Old Glory — the memo was received: the American flag is its replacement. President Biden, Madame Harris and members of Congress: the American flag has been hijacked as code for a specific belief. God bless those believers, they can have it. Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect. It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair

The Department of Justice is mounting a case arguing that laws in West Virginia and Arkansas that bar transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports are unconstitutional, despite the overwhelming majority of Americans supporting biological gender segregation in sports, according to a report citing court papers. “The United States has a significant interest in ensuring that all students, including students who are transgender, can participate in an educational environment free of unlawful discrimination,” the DOJ said in court documents filed in a West Virginia court case Thursday, according to a report by the Daily Mail.(Snip)A poll from May found that a majority of Americans don’t support transgender

Middle income families are lashing out against Joe Biden's punitive new tax plan that would claim a large chunk of the amount someone leaves to their kids when they die just because it has gone up in value over the course of their lifetime. The harsh new tax - dubbed Biden's 'death tax' - is hidden in his American Families Plan and it's receiving ferocious backlash. It proposes that when someone dies, any asset they leave behind that has appreciated in value by more than $1million since the time they bought it should be taxed. The tax rate would go as high as 40% - double

Darius Dotch chuckled in the midst of a Juneteenth performance last Saturday in St. Cloud. The onstage moment wasn't a mistake. He was re-enacting an 1865 letter from Jourdon Anderson, a Black man who escaped slavery in Tennessee, to his former master, who had wanted him to return to bondage. The actor and hip-hop artist lingered on a moment of droll poignancy.(Snip)Black people mark Juneteenth with recitations of historical texts, theater, poetry, dance, music and art. “It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs……” So goes the opening sentence of Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel The Bell Jar, referring to the Jewish American couple, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage and sent to the electric chair exactly 68 years ago today. Their execution casts a morbid shadow over Plath’s book, just as it did over the United States, and it is seen by many as the nadir of America’s engagement with the cold war.(Snip) During their trial, Ethel in particular was vilified for prioritising communism over her children, and the prosecution insisted
