Darius Dotch chuckled in the midst of a Juneteenth performance last Saturday in St. Cloud. The onstage moment wasn't a mistake. He was re-enacting an 1865 letter from Jourdon Anderson, a Black man who escaped slavery in Tennessee, to his former master, who had wanted him to return to bondage. The actor and hip-hop artist lingered on a moment of droll poignancy.(Snip)Black people mark Juneteenth with recitations of historical texts, theater, poetry, dance, music and art. Some also commune through food and drink, parades and family games. The holiday is seen as one where Black people can be their authentic selves.

"Black people mark Juneteenth with recitations of historical texts, theater, poetry, dance, music and art. Some also commune through food and drink, parades and family games." Article forgot to mention shootings, murders, muggings, drug abuse and overdoses, savage attacks on Whites, Latino, Asian fellow citizens, car jacking, domestic abuse, to name a few. Did I miss anything?

A black man confronting you is THIRTEEN times more likely to physically harm you than if he were white. The odds against an Asian are astronomical. And we are being asked to consider ourselves in such a case to be victims of White Supremacy rather than black violence. I am willing to celebrate if those odds can be brought down.

This article, for example. Watch, they'll resent other people using what once was "their" holiday, calling it cultural appropriation. Appeasement is a battle that cannot be won, so making it a bLACK-only holiday would have been brilliant.

So insecure in and of themselves that they keep needing external glorification and gratification. Sad.

I love Cinco de Mayo because in Southern California the celebrations are happy, colorful, and awash in tequila, cerveza, margaritas, good food music and a very good time. Especially good in Santa Barbara, when we’d start with the parade and then gather at a local Mexican restaurant with a wonderful patio/fountain and party all day. Harmless fun. No looting. No arson. No need for riot police. Just fun….

I don't know what "blackness" is. Surely not just skin pigmentation. Was Martin Luther King that wrong?
And tracing grievances back to initial causes seems like an impossible idea- especially if you're going to balance both sides of the ledger, what you got vs what you lost; what you took vs what you gave.
But the people seeking to use "blackness" for their personal gain don't want facts, they want something to use use to dupe the unthinking public- The Gullibles- out of their stuff.

Here's an idea for the celebration - -
- - set up displays of all the innovative and useful inventions created by blacks - - and all of the everyday and advanced products made in black countries - - which all of us buy every day. That will wow everyone - - and show all the valuable things that blacks have created for mankind.

#11, here's one. In Haiti they make "mud cookies," which are formed from dirt mixed with salt and vegetable shortening or fat then dried in the sun, and that have "a taste has been described as a smooth consistency that immediately dries the mouth with a pungent aftertaste of dirt that lingers for hours."

Didn't they offer such a celebration when they burned the place down?
Nothing says black culture like looting, shooting and arson.

Juneteenth is a very significant day to celebrate. Not sure it deserves a national holiday, but it is day worthy of celebration for those affected. June 19th (1865) was the day that black slaves in Texas learned that they had been freed!
Celebrating freedom is always a good thing. But not everyone of those need to be a federal holiday.

I can't wait to go to www.heyjackass.com on Monday to see how big a celebration they had in Chicongo over the weekend. Since fathers day is pretty foreign to many of our feral bretheran, and Xiden hasn't designated a 'baby-daddy' day, let them blast away.

#2 I'm with you BOS (Black Overload Syndrome) has reach and surpassed Covid-19 for being pandemic.
I can't get anymore aware of 'blackness' than I can now I believe we are close to living on the Planet of the Apes. Look at New York and Chicago cities.

Remember:
It's the celebration of the Republicans freeing the Democrats' slaves.
Important to give this context to the day.

betcha the whites outnumber the blacks and they'll not get tired of singing "Kumbaya" just to show their blackness.

I had a thought while reading this and similar articles. National Independence Day, AKA Juneteemph and like reparations, being allowed to say "the N word," and other such cultural exclusivities, should be reserved for bLACK people only. It's poetry; only bLACK People would get a paid day off work so they could be their authentic selves, and the rest of us would work and pay taxes to support them. Anything less proves that White Supremacy still holds sway.
