The wife of the Asian man critically injured after being repeatedly kicked in the head by a stranger in East Harlem begged police Saturday to bring her husbandâs attacker to justice â and make him âpay.â
Yao Pan Ma, 61, was collecting cans Friday to help the family make ends meet along Third Avenue and East 125th Street when a madman struck him from behind, knocked him to the ground and kicked him in the head at least six times â a horrific, caught-on-video attack that comes amid a surge of anti-Asian hate crimes.

I lived in Austin over 20 years ago (has it been that long?) when a movement to close the State Hospitals (crazy house) began. "Those people have rights." was the mantra. What could go wrong? Other than the fact that they won't take their medication and are crazy, probably nothing. Or something. I'm not smart enough to make that kind of decision.
Now, it becomes a little clearer.

This is so wrong , especially when this poor man was minding his own business.
I hope someone will do a GoFundMe for the family so they can move away from this violent neighborhood.

Dirty little secret is the attackers of all of these Asian victims are Black. Blacks hate Asians who they see coming to the US and advancing and starting businesses and owning stores in their neighborhoods. Their twisted logic says that the Asians are somehow responsible for their circumstances and lack of money and advancement. They don't see that Asians work hard and practice self sacrifice and delayed gratification to make life better for their families and they as a group have the lowest sate of out-of wedlock births. All of this is ignored by the leftist media. It's much more useful to try and make everyone think that White people are attacking Asians because Trump used the term China Virus.

Justice seems to be a flexible concept now, depending upon who is committing the crime and who the victim is. A hero cop who saves a girl from being stabbed would have been lauded as a hero in another era. Now he is a racist murderer. A black cop in the Capitol shoots unarmed Ashli Babbett and is walking around free. How have we gone so far downhill? Maybe we should build an army of robot cops like Gort in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and the only color of cops out there would be stainless steel.

Back in the 50s and 60s, well meaning people decided mentally ill people could live better lives by being cared for in their communities. The movement was called "Deinstitutionalization" and it led to the closing of mental health hospitals across the United States. There was an expectation that new drugs would become available to treat mental illness, and that releasing patients from hospitals was the most humane approach. Hospitals were closed down, but the community services that were supposed to take the place of hospitalization and hospital beds never appeared. Patients were released without the support they needed, and the MSM failed to tell Americans what was really happening.
To this day, the MSM blames economic conditions, "lack of housing," or "lack of jobs" rather than the unmet need for more mental health services for the tens of thousands of homeless souls living on our streets across the country. The MSM only reluctantly began to report that substance abuse drives homelessness. Note how it rushes, 24/7 to blame "guns" for mass shootings, when the individual almost always has a long history of trouble with authorities.
I urge people read up on deinstitutionalization. Nobody asks for mental illness. When people are living on the streets, they need real help. Expanding filthy and dangerous homeless camps helps no one.

I feel sorry for anyone living in NYC, and really can't figure out why they can't see that no matter how much disruption a planned exit would be to life and business, being dead or permanently seriously injured isn't worth it.
If they won't keep the violent mentally ill in institutions (and they don't and won't), in a good bit of this country, if they attack people, they will get killed as an armed citizen defends themselves from their literally insane violence. That can't happen in NYC, since they thoughtfully protect the violent criminals by disarming all the honest citizens. Only criminals are armed in NYC.
Don't assume that every random stranger you meet has all his marbles and "couldn't possibly be" a violent lunatic. Some small, non-zero number of them are. And, good grief, in these times when the police are largely prevented from doing their jobs in great swaths of America, you should carry a means to defend yourself from these various violent predators. Whether they be motivated by greed or just insanity isn't relevant, you are now responsible for protecting yourself. Don't do the 'three monkeys' approach, see no evil, hear no evil.....speak no evil is good. But know that evil is our there and ignoring it isn't a plan for survival.
As the sergeant said every morning after roll call on "Hill Street Blues", "Let's be careful out there."

Do not overlook dead Ted Kennedy and the ACLU lobbing Congress, getting the mental hospitals shut down and the mentally ill released to the streets. A mentally ill person does not think they are mentally ill. They think everyone is out to harm them. With no supervision, they refuse to take any meds or accept treatment. Nothing can be done for an adult without their consent until they harm themselves or someone else. That is why an adult shooter 18 or over cannot be committed by the family before a tragic event occurs even when family is aware of severe mental problems. Do not blame the family, their hands are tied. Dealing with a deceased family member some years ago after this became law, prevented the family from getting them help. Every mentally ill person does not kill people, but many have a miserable, unhappy, sick life. There are different degrees of mental illness, same as cancer. Democrats never see the harm resulting from their dangerous laws, take no responsibility and never admit they were wrong.
