Not long ago, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to handle his own mess. Now she's writing him a $4 billion check to bail him out.
Mamdani had barely settled into Gracie Mansion before he discovered what socialists always find out: Eventually, you run out of other people's money. His grand campaign promises — you know: free this, universal that — ran headlong into the reality that New York City couldn’t afford all the things Mamdani had campaigned on.
So, Mamdani went looking to Albany for a bailout.
And, originally, Hochul said no.
"The mayor and City Council need to work together, identify savings,

Hochul got the $4 billion from Republicans, who demanded that the SALT tax cap be raised to $40k, so American taxpayers would have to fund NY socialism.

Just yesterday he was bragging he had balanced the budget, erasing an "Inherited" $12Billon deficit, without cutting any services.
A "Budget" is not balanced when "Mommy" sneaks $4Billion out of "Daddy's" account into yours...your checks may not bounce "This month" but....next month you are still in the hole due to overspending.

As long as it is THEIR (NY's) money and not Federal money, they are free to spend/borrow as they wish and their taxpayers can decide at election time if they want to continue to do so.

Seems I've been hearing Hochul being NY governor for what seems like a very long time since around the Covid crap. Did the idiots in New York reelect her, or are the NY governorships really that long?

I heard an interesting statistic yesterday on the radio. They said that the NY CITY budget is larger than the Florida STATE budget. If that's correct, and I think it is, that's just crazy. Way, way too much money sloshing around in NYC....and huge amounts being stolen, no doubt, by the Dems.

The state is executing a clear bait and switch scheme of federal dollars that were intended to be for statewide benefit rather than ill-conceived county projects. Feds should demand the federal dollars back.

FTA: "My best guess? Mamdani promised to support her reelection campaign and hit the trail with her. A $4 billion commitment is an awfully expensive favor to do for free, and you better believe Hochul is getting something for it."
How welcome will Kathy be as she campaigns throughout the state with ZBoy in tow? She might discover that the youngster is not the asset she believes him go be but a huge liability. Live and learn, peaches. NY Staters won't be feeling the love knowing that their hard earned money is going to prop up this Islamist mayor.

And a footnote for #6. Florida has a population of 23 million and NYC a population of 8 million. So, each NYC resident sucks up three times as much money as each Florida resident. And Florida is a nice place while NYC is a crime ridden cesspool.

Kathy just carried NYC with this handout. She must be banking on there being enough reflexiv-D voters in the rest of the state to carry her through.

I'mm sure that the people of Niverville, Rome, Buffalo, Jamestown, Newburgh, and all of the other towns and cities in NY will be more than happpy to pay for/subsidize NYC's bloated budget while trying to figure out how to pay their own expenses. For a city that claims to be the financial capital of the world and feels that they are superior and smarter in every way to everyone, they are sure financially illiterate and clueless to how to live within their means. Of course, that is true of most liberal Democrats/Socialists.

New York State will follow New York City down the drain. There's no hope for these economic illiterates. Just get out of that state while you can. Empire Staters haven't even begun to suffer yet. Hochul's floating eyebrows will soon join Alice Kramden on the lunar surface. These Democrats who want to take everything you have aren't qualified to run a convenience store, let alone a city or a state or a country. The U.S. Congress ought to cut that state off and let them stew in their own juice. They voted for it. How long can they stand it?

Much of the NYC budget goes to their super-expensive failing school system or at least that's what they claim. That could be another scam since the students do not seem to get anything out of it. $44K per student per year.

It's a good thing states like NY and cities like NYC can't print their own money. If they could you would end up using a wheel barrow full to pay your light bill. That's if the lights still were on.

Let's never forget that it was Andrew Cuomo who lifted this numbskull out of the pack. If not for him few would even know of her.
Fast forward to today when Andrew is intent on capturing yet another elected position. Cuomos are a menace.

As # 1 points out, all of us are subsidizing the NYC budget with the SALT tax reduction, and with other various federal largess. Mamdani the Commie should be cut off from any taxpayer money other than that coming from NYC citizens.
