The police departments of at least three public universities in Florida are seeking agreements with the federal government to carry out immigration enforcement on campus.
It's a significant shift in policy for schools that had previously been considered “sensitive locations” to be insulated from such law enforcement activities, under a federal policy the Trump administration rescinded. The change comes as federal officials are revoking the visas of international students. Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, the University of Florida in Gainesville and the University of South Florida in Tampa are all seeking to deputize their campus police for immigration enforcement, representatives for the schools confirmed to The Associated Press.

A dramatic depiction of President Trump moments after he was grazed by a would-be assassin’s bullet replaced a portrait of former President Barack Obama at the White House on Friday.
The new painting — which appears to be an artistic interpretation of one of the iconic images captured by New York Times photographer Doug Mills in Butler, Pa., last July — is hanging in a prominent spot in the Grand Foyer of the East Wing of the White House, social media posts from the White House and White House officials show. British police took five Greenpeace activists and its UK director into custody after activists tossed 80 gallons of red dye into a pond at the U.S. embassy in London on Thursday.

President Donald Trump has authorized the United States military to take full jurisdiction over federal lands along the U.S.–Mexico border in an aggressive push to seal the border and repel the ongoing invasion of illegal immigrants, traffickers, and cartel operatives.
The memorandum, National Security Presidential Memorandum/NSPM-4, directs the Secretaries of Defense, Interior, Agriculture, and Homeland Security to facilitate the immediate transfer of federal lands—including the Roosevelt Reservation—to Department of Defense (DoD) jurisdiction.
This will allow for the rapid construction of new border barriers, deployment of advanced surveillance systems,

In a stunning development that underscores the deep-seated corruption within the Democratic Party, Massachusetts State Rep. Chris Flanagan (D) was arrested and charged with five counts of wire fraud and one count of falsification of records. The indictment follows a series of unethical actions, including creating a fictitious persona to conceal his involvement in a deceptive campaign mailer and allegations of misappropriating funds during his tenure at the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod. Despite these serious allegations, Flanagan was sworn into his second term in January 2025, highlighting the troubling tolerance for misconduct within the state's political leadership.

An Australian comic has canceled a trip to the U.S. after claiming legal advice warned she could be stopped at the border due to her previous jokes about President Donald Trump’s administration.
Stop laughing, she’s serious.
The Guardian reports Alice Fraser, who has appeared on Australia’s national broadcaster ABC and the BBC, was due to head to New York in May to promote her new book, A Passion for Passion: A Delirious Love Letter to Romance.
According to the outlet, the stand-up planned to apply for an O-1B visa, which permits comedians to live and work in the U.S. if they demonstrate “extraordinary ability” in the arts.

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “All In” that it was “beyond wild” fact that no one is questioning President Donald Trump’s “mental acuity or fitness to serve.”
Crockett said, “When we start to talk about these tariffs, these tariffs are not limited to any one type of people. It’s not limited to Democrats, Republicans or Independents. It’s not limited to urban or rural. We know for a fact if we look back just at his last administration, what it did to the soybean farmers, right. And we ultimately ended up having to give them money to supplant the fact that they lost so much money.

A federal judge will block the Trump administration from ordering Cuban, Haitian, and Venezuelan illegal immigrants.
This development comes amid several court battles over President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and could be a temporary setback to the administration’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants and asylum seekers.
From The Associated Press:
U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said she would issue a stay on an order for more than 500,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans to leave the country, sparing them until the case advances to the next phase. Their permits were to be canceled April 24.
During a hearing, Talwani repeatedly questioned the government’s assertion that it could end humanitarian parole for the four nationalities.

Less than a year after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon, the Apollo program had become so routine that people didn’t really pay attention to Apollo 13 when it launched from Kennedy Space Center on April 11, 1970, at 2:13 p.m. Media coverage was sparse, and so were the crowds in attendance.
“NASA was reminded again of waning interest in space exploration with a launch turnout of around 200,000 people,” Space.com recounts. “It was a crowd that paled in comparison to the 7 million who had come to see Apollo 11 liftoff almost a year earlier.”

In a age of lightning-fast information and leaks over secrets, it's remarkable how quiet things are on who may have been behind the two known assassination attempts on President Trump last summer, one of which almost succeeded.
We still don't know.
But Byron York at the Washington Examiner thinks the Ukraine angle of Ryan Routh's second attempt in Florida is worth a closer look.
He writes:
It is remarkable how little we know about the two 2024 attempts on President Donald Trump’s life. We don’t know much about Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old who shot Trump in the ear during a July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Nor do we know much

The largest U.S. toy manufacturer is investing millions to significantly increase its presence in Tennessee and Florida. Cra-Z-Art is moving much of its manufacturing from China back to the U.S.; it’s one of the few companies that makes toys here,

Quite how the Government expected to hold “more than five” independent inquiries into grooming gangs for £5 million when the Telford inquiry alone cost £8 million is anyone’s guess.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper now insists Labour hasn’t watered down its pledge to “deliver the meaningful change victims deserve” with the announcement of a “more flexible approach” involving the setting up of “victim-led panels”. Yet handing a pittance to the very local councils who seemingly turned a blind eye to these vile crimes for them to mark their own homework isn’t justice.

Here's the problem with pretty much every gun law ever proposed, all the way back (at least) to the 1934 National Firearms Act: The people who write them don't know anything about guns. Case in point: The infamous federal 1994 "Assault Weapon" ban, which didn't ban anything and didn't accomplish anything. The 1994 law banned certain cosmetic features of those rifles, like flash hiders and bayonet lugs; gun makers quickly started selling “post-ban” models with no flash suppressors and bayonet lugs, which made them perfectly legal.
And bayonet lugs? Seriously? Bayonet lugs? When was the last time you heard of a drive-by bayoneting?

In a twisted case of déjà vu, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Friday that a Butler, Pennsylvania man has been taken into custody for, amongst other things, threatening to assassinate President Trump and assault other administration officials. Thirty-two-year-old Shawn Monper now faces federal charges of making "threats to assault and murder President Donald J. Butler was, of course, the site of the July 13, 2024, Trump campaign rally where another would-be assassin shot the president in the ear amidst a series of security failures that led to Kimberly Cheadle's resignation as director of the United States Secret Service.

Protests against President Donald Trump’s administration have been cropping up nationwide. They appear to have two things in common — gray hair and a lack of energy. Are Americans supposed to believe these are organic? Or are they organized by left-wing groups to undermine Trump’s administration?
Now the answers to those questions are becoming clear. The “Hands Off” protests of April 5 and earlier anti-Tesla protests were supported by a coalition of powerful leftist groups, including The Indivisible Project, and organized through Mobilize America — which was initially founded as a Democrat PAC. Now leftist organizers are planning more demonstrations across America for the socialist holiday May Day.

The groups argued the policy violated the right to practice their religion.

On Thursday night at a CNN town hall, a Democratic congresswoman said she regretted voting for the Laken Riley Act, adding, “immigrants across this country who are here legally and have followed the law are being terrorized right now.”
The Laken Riley Act requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain illegal immigrants who have been arrested for burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting. It also authorizes states to sue the federal government for decisions or alleged failures related to immigration enforcement. The legislation was named after Laken Riley, who was a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student murdered in February 2024 by a 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal immigrant while she was jogging.

Freshman Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pa., is already taking aim at the Washington establishment by teaming up with Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, a fellow Pennsylvania Republican, to try to enact term limits for members of Congress.
McCormick introduced a joint resolution on the Senate floor on Thursday that would mandate that U.S. senators and representatives can serve a maximum of 12 years in each legislative body. The bill reflects legislation previously introduced by Fitzpatrick in the House. That means senators can only serve two six-year terms in the Senate and representatives can only serve six two-year terms in the House.
The legislation wouldn’t apply to members who have served beginning before the 118th Congress

Kamala Harris's husband, Doug Emhoff, is facing pressure to resign after his new law firm, Willkie Farr & Gallagher, cut a deal with the Trump administration earlier this month to scrap diversity programs and offer free legal services to Trump-approved causes. Emhoff allegedly opposed the deal, but that doesn't mean he's going to give up his partnership at the firm anytime soon. Harris and Emhoff are desperate to amass personal wealth before she inevitably runs for governor in 2026, and Willkie Farr is shelling out "around $6 million" a year for Emhoff's services, according to the New York Times.

In less than a month, air travelers at U.S. airports and people entering some federal buildings must have a REAL ID.
On Wednesday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) "reminded the public that starting Wednesday, May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need to have a REAL ID-compliant state-issued driver’s license, instruction permit or identification card or another acceptable form of ID to board a U.S. commercial aircraft," according to a media release.

Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, literally tore up a list of 70 orders former President Joe Biden enacted that he said stymied the Last Frontier’s energy capabilities, and spoke Thursday about a bright future for the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Sullivan described the Trump administration’s openness to building an 800-mile LNG pipeline to power the U.S. and trade with Asia.
The pipeline would run from Prudhoe Bay – on the Arctic Ocean – to the Kenai Peninsula near Homer. Currently, essentially the only way to transport liquefied natural gas on the North Slope is via the AK-11 Dalton Highway of "Ice Road Trucker" fame, which is considered very inefficient and dangerous.

I've shared this anecdote before here on the pages of RedState, I'm certain. One of the very first lessons I learned my very first day of law school was a rule that stood me in good stead over nearly 30 years of practice: Don't p*** off the judge. It's both wise and practical advice. Typically, when you are before a judge, they hold your fate in their hands — generally, this is only in the metaphorical sense, but a judge who's predisposed to agreeing with you is preferable to one who's predisposed to making your life miserable any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The bill passed 19-13 with several Republicans joining Democrats in voting against it. Schools could require documentation of citizenship, proof that the student is in the process of obtaining citizenship or a visa. The school systems could refuse to allow undocumented students to attend school or charge them tuition.

A shadow primary for Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-IL) Senate seat could soon spill into the open as Democrats wait with bated breath to see whether he runs in 2026.
Durbin, the No. 2 Senate Democrat, is weeks, perhaps days, away from announcing if he will retire at age 82 or pursue a sixth term that would put the aspirations of a younger crop of Democrats indefinitely on hold.
An open primary in blue Illinois would attract a wave of high-profile Democrats seizing what could be a once-in-a-generation chance to claim one of the state’s two Senate seats. Some have even made public overtures that they would run.

What we may not be aware is just how soon he expects to be doing it.
Back in March, Musk wrote on X: ‘Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus. If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely’.

The family of five aboard the doomed tourist helicopter that plummeted into the Hudson River Thursday was tragically in New York City to celebrate the birthday of one of their three young children.
Agustin Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three kids — ages 4, 5 and 11 — were killed along with an unidentified pilot when the chopper went down into the murky waters of the Hudson.
The family had just arrived in the Big Apple from Barcelona, Spain, to mark the birthday of one of their children, Spanish newspaper El Diario reported.

Former Meet the Press host Chuck Todd appeared on the Piers Morgan show this week and admitted something that was obvious to millions of Americans over the last few years.
Todd suggested that people in media avoided pointing out signs of Joe Biden’s decline because they were afraid of being perceived as doing something that helps Trump. Everyone knew this, but it’s nice of Todd to admit it.
Most people in media are on the left, and as a result, they are terrified of angering their viewers on the left. So they will even deny reality if it means keeping their fellow tribe members happy.

The Optimum Tariff: The Idea Behind Trump’s Trade Strategy
For decades, American elites have spoken of free trade as though it were a moral commandment engraved in stone—unquestionable, sacred, eternal. Tariffs, they say, are relics of the past. Economic heresy. An automatic road to higher prices, shrinking output, and worldwide retaliation. What they don’t tell you—what most of them don’t know—is that some of the most brilliant economists in history developed a theory proving exactly the opposite: under the right conditions, tariffs can make a country richer.

Former Cuban judge Juana Orquídea Acanda was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents and faces deportation for hiding her links to the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), Cuba-focused outlets reported on Wednesday.
Acanda Rodríguez — a 62-year-old woman from Matanzas, Cuba — reportedly arrived at Miami International Airport on March 20 under an immigrant visa arranged by her son identified as a U.S. citizen. CBP reportedly detained Acanda Rodríguez upon her arrival and accused her of withholding key information during her immigration process — most notably, her communist affiliation and

Pharmaceutical company Novartis announced plans to build seven facilities in the United States and expand others in a $23 billion investment over five years on the heels of President Donald Trump’s announcement of forthcoming tariffs on imported drugs.
The Swiss company revealed the major investment in a press release.
“This commitment enables Novartis to expand on its current manufacturing, research and technology presence across the country with 10 facilities, including 7 brand new facilities, creating nearly 1,000 new jobs at Novartis and approximately 4,000 additional US jobs,” the release said.

No doubt you’ve already heard the news that inflation actually declined in March on a month-to-month basis for the first time in almost three years, and fell to 2.4% on a yearly basis. This is horrible news, at least for the Democratic Party, which continues to hope for the worst under President Donald Trump.
Economists had actually expected inflation to rise for the month. Instead, this is the first time since July 2022 that the index declined. “Surprising,” said a number of headlines.
Recall for a moment last year’s bold promise from Trump on inflation: “Prices will come down and come down dramatically and come down fast,” he said.

Pituffik Space Base commander Space Force Col. Susannah (Susan) Meyers was relieved of command Thursday after a report by Military.com that she had sent a base-wide email to personnel at the Greenland base after a recent visit by Vice President J.D. Vance distancing herself from President Trump’s national security policy on Greenland. Meyers had assumed command last July of the 821st Space Base Group at Pituffik.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell posted the announcement by Space Force of Meyers being relieved of command within hours of the report by Military.com.
Parnell: “Actions to undermine the chain of command or to subvert President Trump’s agenda will not be tolerated at the Department of Defense.”

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy gave a warning to wallet-wary Americans in the wake of President Trump’s tariff agenda — saying the everything site many have come to rely on may have to up prices on common items.
Jassy issued an equivocating warning to Amazon customers that the world’s most popular online retailer is facing challenges from the Trump administration’s tariff push, stating in an interview with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin on “Squawk Box” on Thursday that the levies could create “macro issues” that hit the average Joe square in the budget.
“I’m guessing that sellers will pass that cost on,” Jassy said

Senate Republicans continued their campaign Thursday to roll back stringent energy regulations that were issued during the final months of President Joe Biden’s term.
The Senate voted 52-42 to repeal a Biden Department of Energy regulation banning some natural gas water heaters by 2029. The resolution now heads to President Donald Trump’s desk for signature. No Republican Senators voted against the repeal. House Republicans, led by Republican Alabama Rep. Gary Palmer, voted to repeal the gas water heater ban in February.

The Supreme Court has issued further guidance in the case of Salvadoran national Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, and while it doesn't fully affirm the district court ruling, it's rather a mixed bag as far as the Trump administration's position on the matter. For background, we'll refer back to Bonchie's initial reporting on the case: Following Judge Xinis' ruling, the administration filed an emergency application for stay with the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, which denied that application.
The administration then filed an application with the Supreme Court requesting that the district court's injunction be vacated and seeking an immediate administrative stay. On Monday, Chief Justice John Roberts ordered that stay.

The political media landscape here in the United States has been undergoing a great change for several years. For those of us in conservative digital/new media, the pace of the change seemed almost glacial until last year. Things started to pick up in late 2022 when the sale of Twitter to Elon Musk was finalized, then really blew up during last year's presidential election. While the Democrats' go-to media sources for prevarication dissemination have been weakened, they still have a lot of fight left in them. This battle is far from being over.

The press and its Democrat allies are screaming bloody murder about President Trump terminating the legal status of those who entered the U.S. under the CBP One app, a questionable entry program for foreign nationals which sported a near-100% approval rate, from which applicants could seek asylum and receive two full years of work authorization, and a host of free benefits whether the asylum was granted or not. It was a no-lose proposition for illegals even if their applications were found to be junk
They insist that Trump was cruel for ending the program, because use of the app made anyone entering the U.S.

Fighting against the wishes of their voters is a classic Republican pastime — and this week is no different.
When they apparently thought nobody was looking, a cabal of GOP senators comprised of Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski, Utah’s John Curtis, Kansas’ Jerry Moran, and North Carolina’s Thom Tillis — who’s up for reelection next year — quietly sent a letter on Wednesday to Senate Majority Leader John Thune regarding ongoing negotiations over the party’s reconciliation package. Their concern? That the final version of the legislation containing priorities backed by President Trump (tax cuts and border security) will also include provisions fully repealing President Biden’s wrongly named Inflation Reduction Act (IRA),

China announced countermeasures by raising tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125% starting Saturday.
The U.S. and China have escalated a new trade war by raising tariffs even as U.S. President Donald Trump hit a pause on tariffs for other countries. China notably had said it would fight the American tariffs with its own countermeasures, calling Trump’s actions “economic bullying,” which led Trump to retaliate by continuously hiking up tariffs this week.
Trump’s universal tariffs on China total 145%. When Trump announced Wednesday that China faced 125% tariffs, he did not include a 20% tariff on China tied to its role in fentanyl production.

Historians will look back and judge Prime Minister Netanyahu as one of the most remarkable war-time Prime Ministers. He will always have to deal with the fact that Israel was shocked on October 7th in the most tragic of all circumstances. He was in charge. Even if much of the fault lies with many of the leaders of the military and intelligence, he still is the commander in chief of the Military, and therefore bears ultimate responsibility for what transpired. There has nearly never been a war that one country fought on seven fronts simultaneously as effectively as Israel has. Right after October 7th,

Global Terrorism Index 2025, published by the Institute for Economics & Peace, reveals that the primary instigator of global terrorism during 2024 was the Islamic State (ISIS) and associated groups -- such as al Qaeda, Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam wal Muslimeen, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, and al- Shabaab -- together responsible for more than 7,500 deaths.
Although the West is experiencing escalating terrorism in countries such as Sweden, Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, the Sahel region evidently remains the "global epicentre of terrorism, accounting for over half of all terrorism-related deaths in 2024." Here, conflict deaths exceeded 25,000 for the first time, of which nearly 4,000 were directly connected to terrorism.
