Tariffs Will Make America Rich Again

One of the reasons the United States won World War II was because we could outproduce our enemies. As White House Senior Adviser for Trade and Manufacturing Peter Navarro explained in a Fox News Sunday interview, the American “arsenal of democracy” permitted the Allies to triumph. Navarro said the “military might” of the United States allowed “General George S. Patton” to take “Berlin…with trucks, Jeeps, and tanks that were made in the auto plants of the Midwest.”

Navarro needs to brush up on his history. We didn't take Berlin, the Soviets did. And the US army that was driving toward Berlin was Simpson's Ninth Army, not Patton's Third Army. The Third Army was in southern Germany, far from Berlin.

So many mistakes, so little time. 1. The headline is a lie. Tariffs don't enrich countries; they enrich governments. U S. producers and consumers pay the tariffs 2. General Patton didn't "take" Berlin. The Red Army did. Patton was a great general, but Nazi power was primarily broken in the East. The U.S., France, and the U K. were granted access to West Berlin as part of allied occupation policies. 3. FTA: Trade Advisor Navarro said: "“Message is that tariffs are tax cuts, tariffs are jobs, tariffs are national security, tariffs are great for America, tariffs will make America great again.” No. Tariffs are not tax cuts. Tariffs ARE taxes. Tariffs raise prices on imported goods and disrupt trade. After World War II, trade helped make America great. U S. post war prosperity was partially driven its ability to export into enough markets to absorb America's enormous productive output. Before World War II, tariffs helped trigger the Great Depression.

Barack Obama made a shockingly honest admission about the state of his marriage to Michelle Obama. “I was in a deep deficit with my wife,” Barack, 63, told Hamilton College President Steven Tepper in a conversation Thursday, according to the Daily Beast. “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.” The former president of the United States has previously suggested that his back-to-back terms in office from 2009 to 2017 took a toll on his relationship with the former first lady.

In a head-scratching move, FBI Director Kash Patel has reportedly appointed Steven Jensen to lead the coveted FBI Washington Field Office. According to the New York Times, Jensen “played a key role in responding to the attack on the Capitol” on January 6th. Jensen was then tasked as the Section Chief of the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section, according to former FBI Agent Kyle Seraphin. Trump officials state that operational control of the U.S.-Mexico border is becoming a reality. The statement follows another month of declining apprehensions of illegal border crossers entering the U.S. from Mexico. The apprehensions fell by more than 1,1oo from February’s historic low. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials reported that border encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border fell from 8,327 in February to 7,180 in March. This represents a decrease of nearly 13 percent from the previous month’s record-setting low. “The month of March recorded the lowest southwest border crossings in history, marking a pivotal achievement in our nation’s border security efforts,” CBP officials reported this week.

For this week's Feel-Good Friday, we're back in the Carolinas and the survivors of Hurricane Helene. But instead of discussing the rebuilding of structures, the focus will be on the rebuilding hearts and souls. One mother and her two daughters recognized this and came up with an ingenious way to help the girls of Western North Carolina and Appalachia find joy and renewal through the gift of a doll: As any parent knows, you can never underestimate the comfort a child finds in their favorite toy. So much was lost during Helene, that it was easy to forget how important a simple toy can be.

A full 4½ years after The Post’s bombshell series on Hunter Biden’s influence-peddling schemes, The New York Times has deigned to take an interest in the former First Son’s corruption. On Friday, the Times reported that in 2016 (nine years ago!), Hunter used his connections at the Obama State Department (and his sway as the son of the then-vice president) to try to set up a meeting with an Italian official “to resolve regulatory hurdles to geothermal energy projects” that his then-employer Burisma “was pursuing in the Tuscany region.”

As the headline says, you will note that whenever a political figure or a leftist claims that "paying taxes is patriotic," you will note that they are about to tell you that you should pay more. This is a fundamental law of the universe, to be known henceforth as Clark's Law of Taxational Patriotism: "When taxation is levied, the claim that paying taxes is an act of patriotism shall invariably be followed by a demand for a higher taxes."

In a 5-4 move, the Court ruled that the administration can block teacher development grants over concerns about prioritizing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). As he's done before, Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the liberals. With such a ruling, the Court has granted an emergency request to stay a Massachusetts court order that would have required the administration to reinstate the grants.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has announced the launch of a rogue “shadow government” dubbed the People’s Cabinet — a brazen attempt to sabotage President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. The announcement comes on the heels of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s shocking call for a “shadow government” during a recent town hall in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he openly advocated for what he called “alternate press conferences” to spin the public with Democrat-approved talking points. Now, DNC Chair Ken Martin is taking that vision a step further, turning it into an official operation.
