Australian Universities Demand 'Emergency
Meeting' After Trump Cancels Their Funding

Original Article

Australian universities are crying foul after the Trump administration asks questions that put $386 million in research grants in jeopardy. The bone of contention was a questionnaire sent to Australian grant recipients asking if the institution had "ties to communist or socialist parties, receive funding from China and it only recognises male and female sexes." The grants were frozen in January, shortly after President Trump was inaugurated, but were unfrozen at some time thereafter. This new round of questions is the second time the universities were queried, but this time, it has their attention.

"If this was any other country, it verges on foreign interference. It's just remarkable." -- Well, when we stop sending you our taxpayer funds you won't have to worry about any questionnaire now will you? s/o Out of curiosity how much Australian taxpayer funds do you send to the states for research? Who aren't we sending money too? That would be an easier list to compile.

Don't ignore the questionnaires, you arrogant Aussies! FTA: For the life of me, I really don't understand why it is in our interests to fund research at foreign universities using federal funds. Research funding is a zero-sum affair. Doling out $386 million to Australian universities means that money will not be available for funding opportunities for American scientists or world-class scientists living in other countries who want to come to America. We should've learned the folly of pushing our research dollars into foreign universities where we can't control what goes on with our Wuhan Institute of Virology tragedy. I say "cut ift off.

This is really maddening. We have veterans living on the streets or receiving subpar care at VA hospitals and as long as that is the case there is no justification for sending money to foreign entities to study wombat dreams or koala bicycle riding or whatever it is they pretend to study over there. The most insulting part is they think they’re entitled to our money, like we’re doing them a favor by sending it to them. Make it on your own steam, Australia.

Thanks to Joe Biden and the Democrats plot to shut down mining in America, China now controls our ability as a nation to make and produce many of our weapons from tanks to bullets. This puts America at the mercy of China. It is unthinkable that a nation the United States perceives as an adversary at best and an enemy at worst would have the ability to control our production of such critical weapons and military equipment. We expose the hidden truth behind America’s vast reserves of rare earth minerals that remain untapped in the United States due to environmental opposition.

New York— During the first Trump administration, the biggest concern for many journalists was labels. Would they, or their news outlet, be called “fake news” or an “enemy of the people” by a president and his supporters? They now face a more assertive President Donald Trump. In two months, a blitz of action by the nation’s new administration — Trump, chapter two — has journalists on their heels. Lawsuits. A newly aggressive Federal Communications Commission. An effort to control the press corps that covers the president, prompting legal action by The Associated Press. A gutted Voice of America. Public data stripped from websites. And attacks, amplified anew.

The two agencies are close to hammering out an agreement in which the IRS will help DHS locate individuals who are believed to be residing in the country illegally, CNN reported. The agreement would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement to submit names and addresses of people it suspects of living in the country illegally to the IRS, which the tax agency would then cross-reference and confirm, the person said.

The judge’s decision did not challenge the 1798 law itself but argued that migrants can claim they are not covered
