The U.S. attorney in charge of federal prosecutors in New York City’s borough of Manhattan resigned on Feb. 13 after a directive to drop corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams.
Danielle Sassoon, the interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, has stepped down, a spokesperson for the office confirmed.
Sassoon, a Republican, was elevated to the position on Jan. 21, the day after President Donald Trump took office.Bove said the timing of the charges threatened the case’s integrity because they came after Adams criticized former President Joe Biden’s administration over its handling of immigration. He also said the prosecution “has unduly restricted Mayor Adams’ ability to devote full attention

A federal judge has removed a block he had previously placed on the Trump administration’s buyout program for federal workers, denying unions’ request for a preliminary injunction.
Massachusetts Judge George O'Toole said in a Feb. 12 order that the plaintiffs lacked standing and the court does not have subject matter jurisdiction over their claims.
This is a developing story and will be updated.

WASHINGTON—A new list from the White House assesses the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE’s) financial impact so far at more than $3.4 billion, with substantial savings realized through cuts to the Department of Education.
The latest numbers, provided to The Epoch Times on Feb. 11, include $59 million that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) staff sent to house illegal immigrants in New York City hotels. The White House has sought to claw back that money.
The list also includes a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) contracts and grants, many in the Department of Education, as well as moves against DEI-related directives and policies deemed as out ofstep

President Trump has fired the top watchdog for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) — just as details resurfaced that the controversial agency had bankrolled the college education of an al Qaeda terrorist with ties to 9/11 hijackers.
Paul Martin, who had served as the inspector general since 2023, was informed by a White House official via email Tuesday that his termination was “effective immediately.”
Martin wasn’t given a reason for his firing, a copy of the email shows. The White House wouldn’t comment on his termination.

Deep weeds walkers can infer quite a bit from the Zelenskyy pablum, including the necessary photograph that accompanies the text written for him by the CIA. And without a scintilla of doubt, the CIA wrote the Twitter text. Remember, in order to understand the Ukraine dynamic, it’s always World War Reddit, which is high on optics and narrative.
Yes, once you fully accept that situation – then you realize President Trump is negotiating with the CIA, through the installed representative we call Volodymyr Zelenskyy. That’s the context.

President Trump said Wednesday that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to begin “negotiations” on ending the Ukraine war.In a post on Truth Social, Trump said they will “work together, very closely.”
The president’s comments came shortly after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told NATO it is “unrealistic” to hope for a return to the version of Ukraine’s borders that existed before Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.(snip)The defense secretary addressed fears that negotiations could embolden Putin by saying that “a durable peace for Ukraine must include robust security guarantees to ensure that the war won’t begin again.”
However, he said that peace would not involve U.S. troops deployed to Ukraine.

Senator Lindsey Graham (U-DC) was asked for his thoughts and perspectives about USAID today during a press conference.
Senator Lindsey Graham is senior senator in charge of the upper chamber oversight of foreign government influence operations via the “150 account” that supports the goals and objectives of the State Dept.
Senator Lindsey Graham culminates his entire political career in one brief segment of pretending not to know.
We can officially say this moment achieves ‘peak Graham.’ The part where Graham tells former USAID Director Samantha Power to “quit texting me” is epic. WATCH:

he Yellow Berets, also known as Public Health Service trainees, were a group of physicians who participated in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Associate Training Program during the Vietnam War era. They were often derogatorily referred to as "Yellow Berets" by supporters of the war who viewed them as avoiding military service. However, this term eventually became a badge of honor among the participants, many of whom formed a network of influential scientists and medical leaders that continue to dominate the public health enterprise, particularly at NIH. (snip) they have fostered a culture and mentored others that continue to enforce that culture and support the informal networks, alliances

Last Monday, I published “D.C. Federal Judges Join the Resistance.” It focused on one D.C. federal district judge, Beryl Howell, who let her emotions get the better of any prudent legal judgment when she refused to implement the president’s direction to the attorney general to dismiss all pending indictments against Jan. 6 defendants “with prejudice.”
She first vented her spleen against the defendants and President Donald Trump (whom she accused of perpetrating a “revisionist myth”) in a wholly gratuitous screed about why the prosecutions were necessary and proper.(snip) But to show the president who was boss, she refused to dismiss the case with prejudice.

Every rap fan following the drama of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” track, which disses fellow rapper Drake, was dying to see if he would mention Drake during the Super Bowl halftime show. He did.
Last week, “Not Like Us” won a Grammy Award for best rap performance as well as for song of the year. In January, Drake filed a complaint in federal court against Universal Music Group, saying the song accuses him of being a pedophile.
During Lamar the halftime show, smiled directly at the camera while rapping the lyrics, “Say Drake, I hear you like them young. You better never go to cell block one.”

This is a good strategic move. Security Clearances are the credentialed currency of those who work in the DC administrative state. Specifically, a lawyer inside the DC machine is essentially of no value without a security clearance.
Additionally, the absence of a security clearance opens up both parties in DC to legal exposure from discussing or receiving information that is defined by the apparatus as NSI (national security information). And the cherry on the top of the proverbial cake is that Lawfare uses their definitions of NSI in an attempt to stop sunlight on their corrupt activity.
Revocation of security clearances is a win, win, win; a triple winnamin.
