Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Saturday that the strikes by U.S. Africa Command were directed by Trump and coordinated with Somalia’s government. An initial assessment by the Pentagon indicated that “multiple” operatives were killed. The Pentagon said it assessed that no civilians were harmed in the strikes. Trump, in a post on social media, said a senior IS planner and recruits were targeted in the operation.

President Donald Trump on Saturday followed through on his threat to impose tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China in an effort to spur those countries to do more to curb illegal immigration to the U.S. and to stop the flow of illegal drugs.
Trump announced that he was imposing 25 percent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, though the tariffs on Canadian energy imports will be limited to 10 percent, according to news reports. He also added an additional 10 percent tariff on imports from China.
The tariffs are slated to go into effect on Tuesday,

I haven't seen Chuck Schumer so happy in months. There he was Wednesday, practically ready to burst into song while celebrating the Trump administration's withdrawal of a memo ordering a federal spending freeze.
"Americans made their voices heard," Schumer crowed. "Donald Trump rescinded the OMB order."
Schumer was too giddy to tell the full story. On Monday, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directed federal agencies to stop spending money, with exceptions for entitlements, defense, and direct support for individuals, until grants-in-aid programs were aligned with the president's agenda.
The document's broad language resulted in confusion.
President Trump said that Venezuela has agreed to accept the country’s migrants living in the U.S. back as he lauded the return of six American hostages who were held in the Latin American country.

First, it shows Trump has 49 percent approval, with a net approval across virtually all age groups.

One might have thought that the Democratic National Committee would have learned a lesson from the 2024 election about the unpopularity of "woke." Joe Biden spent four years promoting DEI policies, and Kamala Harris ran on that as well as her own even more radical notions of 'diversity.' One such brag, a 2019 interview in which Harris took credit for supplying felons with free transsexual therapies while in prison, turned into the most effective message in the election.

We have become so used to government actors being malefactors, being lied to, and being pushed around that it becomes natural to suspect that when anything bad happens, somebody is behind it.
The truth is, stuff happens. Mistakes are made, and acceptable risks sometimes lead to bad results. Usually, you can smell the stench of bulls**t if you sniff deep enough, and sometimes the BS is hidden enough that it takes a long time to come out. As often as not--more often than not--the term "conspiracy theory" is thrown out to label a perfectly plausible explanation for something as beyond the pale.
Meta Platforms (META) is in discussions about moving its incorporation from Delaware to Texas or other states, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The social media giant has talked to Texas officials about the potential changes, WSJ said, adding that the discussions predate President Donald Trump's new administration.
The paperwork change would not relocate its corporate headquarters.

On Saturday the US Army released the name of the pilot of the US Army Blackhawk helicopter that flew into a passenger jet landing at Reagan National Airport.
The crash was on Wednesday. The third pilot’s name, Rebecca Lobach, was finally released on Saturday, three days later.
All 64 passengers in the jet were killed.
The three pilots in the Blackhawk helicopter also died in the explosive crash.
