Amy Coney Barrett strikes again—alongside Justice Roberts. However, by now, Roberts’ betrayals have become pretty much predictable, but many had high hopes for Barrett, given her history as a clerk for Justice Scalia, one of the greatest Supreme Court Justices of our time. In fact, she was once hailed as “Scalia’s heir.” (snip)Thanks to Roberts and Coney Barrett, Trump was dragged through the lawfare circus in New York City and sentenced by deep state lapdog Judge Merchan.

The SCOTUS is NOT a political body. Any article that calls justices out by party affiliation is, by default, a bucket of warm used oats. I did not read the court's decision but I have enough knowledge to know that the SCOTUS is NOT designed for nor charged with FIXING things. They have one job to do and one job only - rule on the application of the law as defined by the Constitution.

Roberts simply hates breaking with precedent. And historically the court sees itself as the 'last resort' wanting lower court processes to have been exhausted before rendering its decisions as 'fini'. So I am not surprised that this matter has been sent back down. That said, however, I wish the Court had put an end to this lawfare bull. It was garbage from the getgo and an evil, unconstitutional, insult to our legal system - and Trump of course.

Thank you, #3. Good explanation. SCOTUS is intended to only handle cases that were mishandled by the lower courts, or where circuits are in disagreement. The Trump case is very likely to be overturned at the first appeal level, making the Supreme Court taking the case entirely unnecessary. Like in the military, there is a chain of command, and you can't skip to the top.4

She was correct. Federal courts do not normally interfere with state court cases until they are completely final (all appeals exhausted) *and* there is a federal law or right involved as well. They allowed Merchan a chance to fix a problem of his own making (which he only partially did). It is very likely this case will be dismissed on appeal in state court.

If excuses were good for putting out fires, California’s Democrat chief executive Gavin Newsom could have his state fixed in a jiffy. As California sailed into the weekend literally ablaze, Newsom thought there was no better time to sit for a half-hour podcast interview with a former Obama administration official. It was beautiful and truly everything we’ve grown to expect from a Democrat in a position of authority. In 30 minutes, Newsom explained that every criticism leveled at him is “misinformation,” that he is just as much a victim as anyone who saw his home burn to ashes, and that he’s helping fix the problem even though it’s not his responsibility.

Tasnim said the weapons were formally handed over to the armed forces on Jan. 13, at a ceremony attended by Iranian Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Defence Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh.

Rather than anti-Trump, the founders describe their venture as pro-democracy. They said they have already enlisted about two dozen contributors, including people who played prominent roles in debunking 2020 election denialism and investigating the January 6, 2021, attack at the US Capitol.

Three doctors are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to prevent a California agency from investigating them over their opposition to state-approved COVID-19 policies. The California Medical Board considers the expression of the doctors’ dissenting views on the disease as potentially dangerous misinformation that should be suppressed. The board argues it has legal authority to discipline the doctors for speech it deems to be medical misconduct. The physicians counter that just because they have medical licenses doesn’t mean they forfeit their free speech rights under the First Amendment. The emergency application in Kory v. Bonta was docketed by the high court on Jan. 8,

If Washington is Hollywood for ugly people — or at least average-looking people with bad haircuts — Jill Biden is Washington’s Meghan Markle. It’s a tale as old as time: Cinderella becomes accustomed to all the nice things that come with her castle and forces the prince to make a fool of himself on the world stage so she can keep a good thing going. Like Montecito’s most controversial jam merchant, after a failed first marriage, Jill Jacobs bagged a guy who was well on his way to a life of power and influence. Once she got there, she ate up the magazine covers, the glitzy vacations, and the paparazzi appearances.

The report details Smith's decision to bring a four-count indictment against Trump, accusing him of plotting to obstruct the collection and certification of votes following his 2020 defeat by Democratic President Joe Biden. It concludes that the evidence would have been enough to convict Trump at trial, but his imminent return to the presidency, set for Jan. 20, made that impossible.
