“Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.” Since that quote was first published in 2017 by G. Michael Hopf in Those Who Remain, it has become one of the most oft-quoted phrases in the conservative universe. (I’ve quoted it a number of times.) That’s because it perfectly captures the current state of Western civilization. I’ve experienced a good bit of that Western civilization. I’ve had the good fortune to have lived over a quarter of my life outside of the United States. I’ve lived in Cuba—albeit on a rather well-known American base rather than in the Communist part—

Some will claim without God, all is permissible is false but you know those people and they're the ones pulling us down the road to hell.

The basic principle belonged to common sense when I was growing up half a century ago - that in our mostly-free enterprise system, poor families tend to become poor after a few generations, and vice-versa. The churning of the classes here helped protect us from becoming a system of entrenched castes. There have to be quotes from long before 2017 that describe the dynamic.

FTA: "Of course, Christianity is, like everything crafted by man, imperfect." Say whaaat? This writer is an idiot. Christianity was not crafted by man, but by God. Man has certainly polluted it, but that doesn't negate God's original plan for how humans can have an unbreakable, unshakeable relationship with Him.

#2 might have additionally observed that the very systems promoted by the Left for the stated aim of ELIMINATING inequalities actually ENTRENCHES them, instead. And instead of eliminating winners and losers, their way gives them a lot of say in determining who wins and who loses -- and those are almost always determined by POLITICAL affiliation, rather than merit. The Left's way is orders of magnitude MORE unjust than the society shaped by Judeo-Christian teachings.

This goes beyond Christianity and the West. It's about humanity and whether or not it survives. How many religions are there in the world? One minister I used to listen to claimed there were over 20000. Wiki says 4000. Personally, I guessed 2000. No two religions are the same yet all claim to be inspired by God. How can that be? There is only one God. One creator. One designer. Our universe is not the product of chance, there is a design behind it. Therefore, there is a God. Who created all these religions? Can't be God. That leaves humanity. Sometimes I think God just watches us wanting to see if we will outlive our destructive and self-destructive nature. If we don't, we aren't worth God's time. It's not like God has left us on our own. He talks to us. He has given us free will and the necessary brains to make the right choices. We can grow. Consider how far humanity has come in 10000 years. We used to be bloody brutal savages. If humanity fails, it's on us.

sorry for the above. This Christmas Eve, we went to a 4:30 p.m. mass, and the church was full (first time in a long time that happened to me), but this church has Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every day - outside of mass time - until 8 p.m. They have First Saturday devotions every month, and times for confession throughout the week. I love to go to this church, though it is far distant from me, because the pastor and the people are aware of the presence of God in the church. I remember I visited there one day in the summer and was eating my lunch on the front steps and a young man came out of the church laughing. I guess because visiting there made him so happy. I think with are going to have a revival in our churches because of circumstances around us.

Transsexuals are still transvestites 7 replies

Transvestite: noun Someone who adopts the dress or manner or sexual role of the opposite sex. Transvestism: The practice of dressing in a manner traditionally associated with the opposite sex. When did transvestites become transexuals? And why? During the fifties here in America, transvestites (remember Christine Jorgensen?) were the stuff of snide jokes. They were laughed at as misfit men trying to be women. Later, there was Bruce Jenner, who also was a transvestite and who later named himself Caitlin Jenner and demanded everyone else call him by that name. Jenner is still a cross-dressing man in women’s clothing. How did Americans get so afraid of calling them transvestites?

Is President Joe Biden making any decisions anymore? Who knows? Probably not. Heck, it was debatable from day one whether he was the one actually in charge of his administration. Well, now he’s made it crystal clear that he’s utterly disconnected from reality. I don’t know if you’re old enough to remember the musical Brigadoon. It was about a Scottish village that disappears in the mists and only reappears once every hundred years. The District of Columbia and its federal components often remind me of that. On a local level (perhaps a tradition from pre-air conditioning days) the place is somnolent for all practical purposes in the summer and even through much of the spring. Then, just before Thanksgiving, the courts suddenly schedule hearings on cases that have been moldering for months in the clerks’ offices and Congress starts to hustle to get a continuing resolution --

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal by a Jess Bravin reported that attorneys general of many blue states are not going to give up quietly when Donald Trump, as president, begins to honor his election promises, such as the mass deportation of illegals. “A host of blue states are staffing up and building out legal battle plans for Trump’s return trip to the White House.” When Donald Trump will be sending ICE agents to blue sanctuary states to solicit help from local sheriffs and other police forces, the only response he may get is “civil and criminal litigation” from entities such as Maryland’s Federal Litigation Unit.

On Thursday we took a first look at “Pictures from the Biden family business.” The story of the Biden family business — i.e., money for nothing — takes us back to the Hunter Biden laptop, the Deep State coverup of its authenticity courtesy of Antony Blinken and the Dirty 51, and the 2020 Biden presidential campaign. It is a key that unlocks a secret history — or unlocked a secret history. Anyone who cared to know long ago scoped out the heart of the story. The photos provide further evidence that Joe Biden was lying when he disclaimed involvement in the family business. Until this week the photos

The Associated Press announced its awards for the top women athletes of 2024. Caitlin Clark won the title, as you would expect. But then you have this: Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was second with 25 and boxer Imane Khelif was third, getting four votes. What is odd about this is that Imane Khelif isn’t a woman. He is a man who boxed in the women’s division in the Paris Olympics. This came after he was repeatedly disqualified from women’s events because he has male genitalia and XY chromosomes. The Olympics let him compete as a woman, apparently because he says he is a woman, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
