Remember Thanksgiving’s Christian roots

When sitting down at the dinner table this Thanksgiving, soak in the scents of hot gravy, the sight of dear friends and family, and the cinnamon goodness of a nice pumpkin pie slice. Be appreciative of all that surrounds you, the visible and, especially, the invisible. Much like Christmas, the reason for the season is the spirit of Christ and his sacrifices for us. Yet, as America and its families become more secular, Thanksgiving’s Christian origins have been less prominent and forgotten.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will be forced to open its books and reveal its sources of funding after a defamation suit it filed against a former employee completely backfired. US Magistrate Judge David Schultz ruled Monday that CAIR’s donors, funding sources — potentially including foreign ones — and any assets owned by the group are all within the “scope of permissible discovery” as part of former chapter leader Lori Saroya’s lawsuit against the controversial Muslim rights group. Saroya filed a federal defamation complaint against CAIR in January after the group dropped its own lawsuit against the former employee.

The Muslim schoolgirl who accused her teacher of Islamophobia and began rumours that led to a jihadist decapitating him in the street in France has admitted lying and apologised to the victim's family in a remarkable court hearing today. History and geography Samuel Paty was murdered on October 16, 2020 by Abdoullakh Anzorov, an 18-year-old Islamist radical of Chechen origin. Anzorov tracked down 47-year-old Paty and brutally hacked his head off after seeing pictures and videos of him circulated on social media as part of a ruthless campaign of harassment.

Outgoing President Joe Biden’s Justice Department moved on election night on Nov. 5 to essentially ensure the cover-up of a potentially massive green energy scandal, Breitbart News has learned exclusively. This story has tentacles back through, not just the Biden administration, but all the way back to the Obama administration, and it could be something that jeopardizes the broader green energy agenda and the future of leftist solar projects on federal lands. At least one congresswoman is already formally pressing the DOJ for answers.

Chuck Woolery, the smooth-talking game show host of “Wheel of Fortune,” “Love Connection” and “Scrabble” amongst others who later became a popular right-wing political podcaster, has died. He was 83. Born in Ashland, Kentucky, on March 6, 1941, Woolery would go on to serve two years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Enterprise before seeking a career in his first true love – entertainment. Donald Trump-supporting Woolery may have enjoyed a renaissance skewering liberals and their hypocrisy while accusing the government of lying about coronavirus but his iconic name was very much a part of television game show hosting.

A-List actor Denzel Washington says he knows it isn’t “fashionable” to talk about or even be religious in Hollywood. But he also says he has come to a place in his life where he simply does not care what anyone thinks about his open expressions of faith. [SNIP] he was well into his adulthood at that point, and he had never really cultivated a solid religious belief despite having grown up in the church with his family. But when he got to West Angeles, he had a spiritual awakening that changed his life.

Pope Francis recently implied that Israel was committing “genocide” in its campaign against Hamas. While the pope was eager to apply the term to Muslims terrorists dying in the war, he has been reluctant to apply it to Christians being massacred by Muslims in the Middle East. Over 50,000 Christians were massacred by Muslims in Nigeria. Dozens of churches were attacked, some on Christmas, without the pope ever condemning this as genocide. [SNIP] “I want to say clearly that I do not like it when people speak of a ‘genocide of Christians,’ for example in the Middle East,” Pope Francis argued, and claimed that he preferred the term “martyrdom.”

What does “resistance” look like? When Denver isn’t busing illegal aliens to New York and Chicago, its mayor is trying to act like enforcing American immigration law and deporting illegal aliens is Tiananmen Square all over again. The mayor also takes heart that the people of Denver — not just the administration — would likely resist a mass deportation effort from federal forces. “More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston said. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?”

Youngsters at Lincoln High School also lug their backpacks around all day, because there are not enough lockers to go around in a school that this now 1,000 kids above capacity. Officials have added makeshift divisions to increase the number of available classrooms, but teachers say the new walls are too thin to stop noise and have fallen down during lessons.

An Ontario town has been fined $10,000 and its officials ordered to complete mandatory “human rights” training after it refused to celebrate Pride Month. Emo is a township of about 1,300 people located in the far west of Ontario, along the border with Minnesota. In a decision handed down last week, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario ruled that Emo, its mayor and two of its councillors had violated the Ontario Human Rights Code by refusing to proclaim June as “Pride Month.” The town was also cited for failing to fly “an LGBTQ2 rainbow flag,” despite the fact that they don’t have an official flag pole.

Ever since Vice President Kamala Harris picked Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her running mate in early August, it was considered something of an odd choice. On Tuesday night, Chris Cillizza put out a lengthy thread on why Walz wasn't the right pick, which became a trending topic over X.
