Iran-Israel: Will Turkey get involved?

Original Article

For months, many countries have warned of an escalation in the war in the Middle East. These concerns are now magnified in the wake of Iran's latest attack on Israel. Iran is one of the regional powers in the Middle East. Another is Turkey, and Ankara has been on the side of the Palestinian people since Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip in response to the October 7, 2023 attack by the terrorist organization Hamas. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly accused Israel of committing "genocide." He has also repeatedly emphasized that he does not see Hamas as a terrorist organization and often speaks of his "Palestinian brothers."

Its been decades since I lived in Turkey, but at the time the Askers (soldiers. Pronounced like Oscars) were among the most brutal, most deadly soldiers on the planet. Their lives meant nothing to their own officers and to their enemies, or even to themselves. Their purpose was to kill and nothing else. I would not want to face them on a battlefield.

Since the dawn of the 20th Century, Turkey has rarely missed the opportunity to be on the wrong side of Middle Eastern conflicts. For a brief period of time, they deserved to be in NATO and made a few positive contributions and then reverted to their old Ottoman ways. They have been dismantling the legacy Ataturk brought them for over 80 years. He was their last chance to join Europe and Western civilization and they are just slouching back in the wrong direction. I lived there once...it's a beautiful country and the people are wonderful. Radical Islam will not do the country any good.

Erdogan bragged this year that he could send a missile into Athens any day he felt like it. Turk-Greek hatred is legendary, but he could also send that missile into Tel Aviv or Jerusalem any day he chose. Tell me again why Turkey is in NATO?

If Turkey sends one bullet towards Israel, then they either need to be kicked out of NATO immediately, or NATO needs to be dissolved (since it's even more useless, and costs the USA so much money every year, than the UN)!!!!!

Sen. JD Vance blasted the Biden-Harris administration on Monday for not doing enough to bring home the hostages that Hamas took from Israel during the deadly Oct. 7 attack one year ago. Vance, R-Ohio, spoke during the Philos Project’s Memorial Rally and March on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., briefly taking aim at President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. "I'm going to get a little political here. It is disgraceful that we have an American president and vice president who haven't done a thing," Vance said. "Vice President Harris, our message is, ‘Bring them home.’ Use your authority to help bring them home. We can do it.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre got into a heated exchange with Fox News Channel's Peter Doocy over the White House sending aid to Lebanon during the hurricane season, which has had devastating effects on North Carolina. Harris pledged Saturday to send $157 million of "additional assistance" to Lebanon while Israel attacks Hezbollah infrastructure and targets in the country. Harris argued the country was "facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation." Doocy asked Jean-Pierre why the Biden administration was soliciting congressional input before sending disaster loan funds to North Carolina, but not to send the slush funds to a foreign country.

My son Alon lives in an apartment in Tel Aviv with his friends. It’s not fancy, but it’s charming and warm; sometimes his little brother, Ronen, will stay there if he doesn’t want to make the journey late at night to our home north of Haifa. For more than a decade Alon has played piano, and he has an acceptance letter to Rimon School of Music. He loves to grill, but always complains to his dad that ours doesn’t work, so we bought a brand-new one a few months ago. For his twenty-third birthday this past February, everyone from around our small community came together to play music

There are rare moments when history illuminates the conflicts of our age and gives us a chance to choose good over evil. Oct. 7, 2023, was this moment for our lifetimes. That day, one year ago, we saw the devil on earth. The Hamas terror group invaded Israel and carried out the deadliest massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust. With Iranian backing, they murdered, raped, wounded and tortured thousands of Israelis and foreign nationals, and dragged hundreds off to Gaza as hostages. Since then, Israel has been fighting for survival and for justice.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reeling exactly a year ago from the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust: A staggering 3,800 trained Hamas terrorists from an overall number of 6,000 Palestinians invaded southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The Iranian-backed Hamas and its supporters unleashed a scale of unprecedented barbarism, including beheadings and burning bodies, within the territory of the Jewish state, resulting in the mass murder of nearly 1,200 people, including over 30 Americans. The U.S. designated terrorist movement Hamas also kidnapped more than 250 people on that fateful day

In Israel, Oct. 6, 2023 was a day marked by optimism. Saudi Arabia was moving toward normalizing relations with the Jewish state, a once-unthinkable step that would dramatically improve Israel’s relationships with the Arab world. A pact with the Saudis including trade, tourism and security provisions would expand the historic Abraham Accords forged under Donald Trump, bolster a regional alliance with the United States and further isolate Iran. “Every day seems to bring a new advance in the fast-moving American effort to build a Saudi-Israeli alliance in the Middle East,” was how a Times of Israel columnist described the confident outlook that day.

Hamas’s October 7 massacre was shocking, not just due to its barbarity, but the reaction it elicited on the streets of liberal democracies, with masses of westerners actively cheering on the slaughter of innocent civilians and siding with a genocidal terrorist organization. As the first anniversary of that horrific day approaches, a new book sheds light on the morally bankrupt ideology that has caused many of our elites to turn their backs on liberal values and forge an unholy alliance with religious extremists.
Untapped Relief: FEMA Is Sitting on Billions

Although the Federal Emergency Management Agency told Congress last month that it had $4 billion in its Disaster Relief Fund, officials also warned that the Fund could have a shortfall of $6 billion by year’s end, a situation FEMA says could deteriorate in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. While FEMA is expected to ask Congress for new money, budget experts note a surprising fact: FEMA is currently sitting on untapped reserves appropriated for past disasters stretching back decades. An August report from the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General noted that in 2022, FEMA “estimated that 847 disaster declarations with approximately $73 billion in unliquidated funds remained open.”

With just about four weeks to go before the presidential election, various people are predictably rolling out their “October Surprise” scenarios. The most prominent such person is Hillary Clinton. That is not a shock to many who believe her to be behind the “Russia Collusion” surprise unleashed on Donald Trump in summer 2016. That “surprise” was a known and proven hoax, orchestrated to take down the Trump campaign. For those who may have forgotten that sordid episode — or who seek to pretend it never happened — I suggest they read the Durham Report, released in May 2023.

The art of the traditional signature is becoming a thing of the past thanks to the rise of online contracts, e-signatures and PIN numbers. Surveys show that just a fifth of young adults aged 18 to 24 now have a personal signature, and a similar share of adults use their signature so infrequently, they can't produce the same one consistently. And that matches what teachers are seeing. Dr Lori Koerner, the assistant superintendent for the Riverhead Central School District in New York, told DailyMail.com: 'I have encountered too many secondary students and employment candidates who cannot sign documents relative to their onboarding process.'

Yesterday, on a French radio program, Macron urged a return to "a political solution" to the ongoing dispute. He clarified what he meant, saying that the West should end arms deliveries to Israel for use in Gaza. The response from Prime Minister Netanyahu was rapid

We should be used to the idea by now that the Biden administration does not exist in the same time frame of the universe as the rest of us. You might recall the $7.5 billion set aside in the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to build 500,000 EV charging stations across the country. As of June, exactly eight charging stations had been built. Amazingly, in that same Act, Congress authorized the Commerce Department to create an "Internet For All" scheme, which was supposed to bring broadband internet to everyone in America at an affordable price by 2030.

In its decision, the Grand Canyon State’s high court rejected a challenge seeking to have votes cast for Proposition 140 voided after a lower court special master disclosed that 37,657 pairs of signatures gathered in support of the measure were duplicates. As previously argued by the Arizona Free Enterprise Club (AZFEC), the finding “place[s] Proposition 140 thousands of signatures under the constitutionally required signature threshold to qualify for the [November] ballot.”
