Politically incorrect words don’t kill, but Venezuelan gangs do. Donald Trump this week warned rally-goers in a small Wisconsin community that “if Kamala is reelected, your town and every town . . . will be transformed into a third-world hellhole.” He’s repeatedly said that Biden-Harris open borders are turning New York into a “third world nation” and America into a “third world disaster” — and the rhetoric makes left-wing elites apoplectic. Never mind the violence perpetrated by migrant gangs and the societal disorder caused by open borders: Their problem is with the words. NPR says the term “third world” is “offensive.” Foreign Policy columnist Howard French calls it “utterly racist rhetoric.”

For all the differences between the presidential and vice presidential debates, there was one glaring similarity: the moderators weren’t able to keep their mouths shut. In the first debate, the rules allowed the moderators to “fact-check,” whatever that means exactly. In the second debate, the rules didn’t allow “fact-checking.” But in both cases, the moderators couldn’t help themselves. They weighed in, over and over again. And every single time, they interjected to help whatever Democrat was standing at the podium. And the format of these “fact-checks” was always the same, too. The moderators would wait for Donald Trump or JD Vance to stop speaking. Then they’d hastily recite a rehearsed,

Indeed, when the debate began at 9 p.m., it was clear from its first moments that Walz was just what the stories had said — nervous and a bad debater. It was also clear that Vance was going to win the debate decisively. Chris LaCivita, the co-manager of the Trump campaign, said he could tell what was happening almost immediately.

About a week after Hurricane Helene first made landfall in the Southeast, Kamala Harris took a break from her fundraising events and staged photo ops at the border to travel to Georgia to address the federal government’s response to the storm that ravaged the people of the South. Lost everything to Hurricane Helene? You may be eligible for a one-time $750 payment for the basics. After that, you’re on your own. (As a reminder, after the fire in Lahaina, Maui residents received only $700.) I seem to vaguely remember a phrase coined by a high-profile Democrat…now what was it? Oh that’s right, “insulting crumbs.”
