Donald Trump’s anger might not take

When I was a kid, I had a bad temper. I suppose in today’s psychobabble, they would say I had an “anger-management issue” and perhaps they would give me a handicapped parking pass or other special privileges. But back in the day, I was just a kid with a temper. One summer day when I was about 11, when my parents weren’t home, my brother and sister locked me out of the house for reasons I don’t remember (but they were probably good ones). A back door to the house was sliding glass.

FTA: "I’ll vote for Trump again, as I’ve already said. But I don’t expect him to win, and I don’t expect any Eisenhower-type mea culpa from him when he loses. Anger has its limits." Wow. Sounds to me like you have an unresolved personal problem, Mr. Beaton. I pray your expectation is dead wrong.

All this hand-wringing, as if Trump went off kicking the podium and screaming at Harris and her moderator buddies. Real helpful.

Speaking only for myself: Glenn needs another job. 1) I’ve NEVER heard anything about PDJT’s “anger.” Until this article. Never in his past life as a celebrity or real estate mogul. Never re his wives or children or business. 2) and now? When he’s beset by everything the government could throw at him??? Including, but not limited to, his first term when they thwarted his agenda; his 265 lawsuits; his $$$ going to bogus legal charges; lies upon lies lies upon lies. I might have an angry outburst or two. And Glenn wants to rage on his “anger ???!! Give me a big break.

I think Beaton misses the point. It isn't Trump's anger that matters - it's OURS. We have waited far too long for someone - ANYONE - to take our side and to do so BOLDLY. Even angrily if necessary. Sure, I think 2 AM tweets are silly. But I'll take righteous indignation loudly spoken and with appropriate anger any day.

Some of the commenters seem to miss the point. The point is not whether Trump's anger is justified. It's whether his anger helps him get elected. At this stage, it seems not to. It turns off too many people. And the point is not whether those people are right to be turned off. The point is they are, and they vote.

Wait a minute, #3, there was this one time, I heard something about Trump getting mad at someone for something, once. Horse hockey. If you want to see someone with uncontrolled anger, check the prisons if you want to see anger. I agree, you can't beat the Greatest Generation at their peak. That was a peak effort by all of them. From victory gardens, to Rosy, to the sailors and soldiers. God bless each and every one of them, with all the thanks in the world for saving us with all the anger you had. Why Trump hasn't unleashed what has to be peak anger, that mere mortals could never grasp for all the trash they have thrown at him and his family, has to be because he resolved all of his anger issues completely. Comparing him to a 10 y/o kicking in a door is a bit much. I'll for him, and so will millions of others because he is angry, at the right things as you point out, and since he is angry at how they are treating us, I would like to see him blow his, just once. It would be a glorious sight, but then he never would do that because he has a plan and he is executing perfectly. The Almighty has that guys back.

#5, I guess it depends on what your definition of anger is. I would say that the bullet that struck him on July 13 is of an angry nature. A lot of people associate blunt truth as anger. Sorry, don't buy into the mean and angry streak. I see that more in Joe Biden.

I'm a little surprised at my reaction to this article, because I can get irritated with Glenn sometimes. By the way, I really liked the conversation Glenn had with his father about the glass door. It was probably the right conversation to have, because it allowed Glenn to arrive at his own conclusions. But it would probably be considered "male emotional unavailability" today. But back to Trump. I am a big supporter, have always like him, still do and always will because he took a bullet for the Constitution and took litigation, criminal proceedings, impeachments, and extreme bad mouthing before he took the bullet. I watched the debate with a big Trump supporter friend and both of us were disappointed in Trump and shocked at The Kamel. She succeeded in presenting an image of herself totally at odds with the facts of the last 30 years. So far, it is appearing that the undecideds believe in the 30 years over the 30 days of hollywood debate prep. Trump is real, she is fake. Trump has a plan for democratic life, she has a plan for command and control. But the complaint was about what I think was lack of debate prep- Trump could have cooly pointed out her many failures and her promotion through party politics not realworld merit. Etc. Was Trump angry? He was amped up compared to her. Maybe the job he has worked so hard to get requires somebody who is amped up, and not somebody who has scripted calm. But in general, I think he could have played it cooler and pleased me. But, does Glenn know what the undecideds want? Isn't that the first question? I've gotta go send Trump some money (hope you will too), so I'll have to cut this short. I enjoyed Glenn's story, and I can relate to it, but I'm not sure he is right about the anger. But I do believe that Trump could have rebutted and characterized her better with some intensive debate prep which I assume he did not do. But hey, I don't know what the undecideds need to hear! Maybe they are sick of politicians and Trump didn't want that oleaginous sound of the squeaky politician like she had. By the way, as Hugh Hewitt observed there was not one question about the execution of Hersh Goldberg-Polin by Hamas, and Trump didn't mention him either, for an example of how he could have skewered her real good.

No. 7: But the question is not whether YOU see anger in Trump. The question is whether a lot of voters do. Polls show that, indeed, a lot of voters do. And that it turns them off. You can argue that they're wrong to see that anger (though I don't think they are) and you can argue that it shouldn't affect their vote. But you can't really argue that it's NOT affecting their vote. They themselves say it is.

Enough with this nonsense. One of the very worst things conservatives can do is accede to the left’s narratives and premises. It puts us constantly on the defensive, as it is meant to do. The groveling of the I’m-going-to-vote-for-Trump-BUT crowd is getting old. From someone with an Irish temper, trust me, that isn’t anger.

This is ridiculous. There is no comparison between the anger fit thrown by an 11 year old Beaton and the justified anger of an adult DJT, who has endured years of weaponized assault by people within the U.S. government. I think Trump has shown remarkable restraint. Not many men could have restricted themselves to so-called “mean tweets”, and occasional restrained public comments about the relentless, horrendous evil perpetrated against him, and his family, by a vicious cabal of unscrupulous liars. His comment about his attempted assassination during the debate, and the total lack of regard for it by his three debate opponents, and enemies who apparently want him dead, is a prime example of the admirable self control PDJT always exhibits. God bless him for the great love and sacrifice he has shown for our country and for our citizens.

Glenn is right. Trump was played like a fiddle the other night. By turning defensive, he missed great arguments on "are you better off now" where Kamala tapped-dance (and triggered him with rally size), and her two-state Palestinian argument (which he would have destroyed had he not changed the subject).

I've never seen an angry Trump. He wasn't there at the farce of a debate, either. Had he come out strong, Harris likely had practiced 'scared' facial contortions. I hear she even had actors teaching her mannerisms and she certainly had learned, probably by rote, everything she said. Bet she had no idea what she was saying. And enough of this 'anger' turning Trump voters off. Not a scrap of truth in that and we know it.

I believe all Lucianne posters want Trump to win and don't want anyone to criticize him. The problem is not everyone in the country feels like we do and that is what worries Beaton and a lot of us. We all can't understand why this election seems so close when Trump should win by 10% or more. We remember the Red Wave that wasn't and how the democrats and liberal press lie which sway a lot of people. Since I know and have fought against Democrats all of my life, I know what they are capable of, so my big worry is will Trump "lose" again. I know how we will feel, but what do you think Trump will do if we suffer another loss. Kamala is definitely making this race about Trump and Trump definitely needs to make it about Kamala/Biden and their horrible 3 1/2 years.

Not that Trump or his campaign team asked for my advice .... and it may be said, it is proven that my advice has bern wrong before. But Trump let Kamalalala get under his skin Tuesday night. Any child of four could have told you that was her plan going in. And to expect even a "fair" chance from ABC moderators was foolish at best. Trump should have spent the entire debate reminding that Kamalalala's Day One was over 3-1/2 years ago and talked to the American people, not Kamalalala and her assistants at the moderators desk But he did well enough to maintain his current standing and modest lead. It just wasn't the knockout punch he was capable of. But then again, riding on the Trump Train can be an exciting and rewarding ride. Just remember there will be some sharp turns and bumps. Be sure to keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times.

That Trump has a right to be angry at biased media, corrupt Secret Service leaders, and biased prosecutors at the district and federal levels cannot be questioned; however, the stakes are too high in this election (e.g., survival of our Republic) for our more conservative candidate's intemperance to alienate voters who could push said candidate over the top, in spite of the certainty of many forms of democrat cheating. This is not a "mean tweet" issue in 2024, and as it was said on these pages yesterday, Trump was near pitch-perfect in articulating his vision for our country and rallying support from many often disparate corners of our country until the end of July.

Anger is: 1. 13 young soldiers killed in Afghanistan 2. billions of my tax dollar military equipment dumped in Afghanistan 3. thousands of decent Americans left homeless 4. thousands of families suffering from foreclosures 5. millions of middle class entering poverty 6. billion dollars funding the Ukrainian war instead of American poverty 7. American wealth depleted by millions of Illegal Aliens 8. politicians getting wealthy at the taxpayers expense I wanted to see Trump lose it on national TV to send a message, "how angry we are with this corrupt Biden and Democrat administration"!

Hunter, it seems, just can’t get a break. First, he gets convicted of all three counts on an illegal gun purchase. That doesn’t sound like much but it carries a potential 25-year sentence. Bad luck, that conviction. This week, his trial for tax evasion was to begin. At the last minute, he trotted out a scheme where he pleads guilty without admitting guilt. (It’s a lawyer thing.) The prosecutors were having none of it, and the judge was skeptical. So then, Hunter just entered a straight guilty plea on all nine counts. They carry a potential 17-year sentence. If he were sentenced to the maximum on both the gun and the tax charges,

The latest craze among lazy people is “quiet quitting.” That means they quit working, but don’t tell their company. By doing it that way, they continue to collect their paychecks. It’s easy to “quiet quit” in an age when objective measures of productivity are out of fashion because they reflect badly on bad employees whose feelings must be spared, and it’s especially easy when employees “work” from home. In my opinion, it’s theft. Which brings us to Joe Biden.

Kamala Harris has done more flips than a transgender Olympic gymnast. Here’s a sampling: In her aborted 2019 campaign, she promised to ban fracking. That’s not a popular position in swing state Pennsylvania, and so now she promises not to. She used to support “Medicare for All,” a great-sounding name for a program that would abolish private health insurance and financially wreck the existing Medicare program. Now she says “never mind.” She mocked President Trump’s construction of a border wall as a “medieval vanity project.” While Vice President, she supported her boss’s abandonment and demolition of what Trump had constructed, and welcomed the ensuing invasion by over ten million illegal aliens.

People are funny about racoons. These flea-bitten, sometimes rabid, garbage-eating vermin with no visible means of support, elicit, in some people, feelings of love. A woman in Canada was feeding dozens every day. When she died – of cancer, not rabies – her dying request to her husband was that he continue to feed the racoons. He has done so. And they’ve been fruitful, or at least they’ve multiplied. A woman in Indiana feeds 25 or more a day. She buys 50-pound bags of dog food for them. A woman in Colorado found what she called “a baby racoon.” She took it home and adopted it.

Barack Obama was elected in 2008 on his vague promise of “hope and change.” It was a shrewd strategy. He played into Americans’ perpetual dissatisfaction with their elected officials. Who doesn’t want change in the political system, and what better thing to hope for? Moreover, by running mostly on a slogan, he became an empty vessel for people to fill with their individual hankerings. If you hoped that college would be changed to make it tuition free, then Obama’s your man because, after all, he did promise hope and change.

The phrase “helter-skelter” has a storied history (not that we’re burdened by the past, anymore). For centuries it meant something like “confused, disorderly and hurriedly.” In my lifetime, it was the name of a heavy-metal song by an overrated pop group out of Liverpool with mop hair and skinny pants. A weird, murderous cult figure misinterpreted their song as a prediction of race war in America, maybe because it was on an album they called the “White Album.” (Yes, “White” was capitalized, and they never did produce a “Black Album” or even a “black Album.”) In short, the meaning of “helter-skelter” over the years has been, well, helter-skelter.

He was pushed out of the presidential election by people who are familiar with his physical and mental state. He has essentially disappeared since then – for over 48 hours. He apparently traveled to the vicinity of Las Vegas. There are reports that he suffered a medical emergency there, and emergency assistance was called. ABC News is denying the extraordinary allegations there was collusion between the presidential debate moderators and Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign. 'Absolutely not,' an ABC News spokesperson told the Daily Beast. 'Harris was not given any questions before the debate.' Former President Donald Trump and his MAGA allies have stoked conspiracy theories that Harris had a leg up in the debate. Kirby, 61, apparently intended to send his dismissive response to White House staffers but accidentally hit “reply all” on an email chain that included the Fox News reporter making the inquiry. “Obviously no use in responding. A ‘handful’ of vets indeed and all of one stripe,” read Kirby’s email, according to the outlet.
