As Israel’s justified war against Hamas raged, the terror group still held over 100 hostages. Once again, a ceasefire agreement was rejected by Hamas last week. Tragically, Israeli forces made a gruesome discovery this weekend in Gaza: the bodies of six hostages were recovered, including one American (via Axios): Israel Defense Forces recovered the bodies of six Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including one American citizen, Israeli officials said.
Why it matters: The recovery operation took place amid continued efforts to reach a hostage-release and ceasefire in Gaza deal.

Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban posed a question to his followers on X on Friday night in a currently-lopsided poll.
"Who’s persona and character would you like to see young children grow up to have?" Cuban wrote on a two-way poll with the two options being Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Trump won the poll 68.9% to just 31.1% for Harris, with a total of 804,173 votes when the poll ended. (X) The poll prompted several responses from prominent political commentators and influencers on the platform.

The Biden-Harris administration is cherry picking U.S. Customs and Border Protection data to fit their narrative that immigration issues are improving ahead of the election, according to a former Border Patrol agent.
Recent immigration data shows that the numbers of migrant encounters are dropping from record highs months ago, but that is not the entire picture, National Border Patrol Council Vice President Art Del Cueto, told DailyMail.com.
'The reality is, the numbers have dropped, but [the Biden administration] has played with the numbers somewhat,' he charged.

The California Assembly passed a bill that would ban voter identification requirements from being enacted at local government levels.
Senate Bill 1174, which passed in a 57-16 vote, would “prohibit a local government from enacting or enforcing any charter provision, ordinance, or regulation requiring a person to present identification for the purpose of voting or submitting a ballot at any polling place, voter center, or other location where ballots are cast or submitted, as specified.” The bill was introduced by California State Sen. David Min (D) and co-sponsored by California state Sen. Josh Newman (D).

President Trump and Special Counsel Jack Smith presented opposing arguments for how the January 6 case will proceed in a joint status report filed late Friday night ahead of a status conference scheduled for September 5.
On Tuesday Jack Smith indicted President Trump AGAIN in DC following the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity.
As TGP reported last week, Special Counsel Jack Smith opted out of holding a ‘mini trial’ before the November election and is ‘carefully revising’ the January 6 case against Trump following the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling according to a leak to Bloomberg.

Independents–by double digits–prefer former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the country, this week’s survey from the Economist/YouGov found.
This survey, which was taken after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Illinois, asked respondents a very simple question: “Between Harris and Trump, who would you prefer to have as president?”
Despite Harris leading Trump by two points nationally, Trump actually has a one-point edge on this question, as 47 percent said they prefer Trump to be president rather than Harris, compared to 46 percent

San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall was shot during a robbery incident in the city's Union Square, according to police.
Pearsall is now in stable condition and a suspect is in custody, District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin told the local NBC affiliate.
The first-year receiver was reportedly targeted over his Rolex watch. There are also unconfirmed claims that Pearsall was at an autograph signing at or around the time the shooting took place. The 23-year-old Arizona native is one week away from his first NFL game against the New York Jets on September 9, although his status for that contest was already clouded by a shoulder injury.

Imagine life in the near future. A man resides alone in a tiny apartment. He would prefer to be married, but the State considers that antiquated institution “patriarchal” and “white supremacist.” He would prefer to have children, but he can’t afford them. Besides, his yearly carbon allowance is insufficient to cover another resource-wasting human being.
He has never owned anything. He rents his bedroom, his furnishings, and his meager entertainments. Each month, a digital account associated with his digital ID receives a number of central bank digital currency units. How much he receives depends upon the number of hours he works

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is suing North Carolina’s board of elections after they refused to remove his name from the ballot in the pivotal swing state.
The lawsuit filed in Wake County Superior Court on Friday says the board’s decision to deny Kenendy’s request to remove his name from the ballot violates his free speech rights and accuses the board of making an issue out of nothing.“By refusing to acknowledge Kennedy’s statutory rights and entitlements, defendants have irreparably harmed him,” the lawsuit said. “Even worse, by forcing Kennedy to remain on the ballot against his will, defendants are compelling speech in violation of [the Constitution].”
