Don't look now, but the New York Times sounds worried, too. Thus far, Democrats have a lot more billionaire money to fund their operations and those of their assorted super-PACs. Arabella in particular leverages massive contributions from the ultra-wealthy Left to fund all sorts of progressive storefronts, as Scott Walter explained almost exactly four months ago in a podcast interview.
Now that the world's wealthiest magnate may join the other side, though, suddenly it's time for Panic in the Demsco:
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has hired a Republican operative with expertise in field organizing to help steer his political work, a move that suggests that Mr. Musk

Pro-Palestinian students have assumed control of student government at the University of Michigan with the return to fall classes, suspending funding for student groups until the administration agrees to divest from, and boycott, Israel.
The New York Times reported Tuesday:
At the University of Michigan, many student activities are usually funded or subsidized by the Central Student Government, known as C.S.G., an elected undergraduate and graduate council that decides how to dole out roughly $1.3 million annually to about 400 groups.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is speaking out after the Biden-Harris administration slapped a sixth round of sanctions on Israelis on Wednesday, as part of an effort to appease anti-Israel critics on the political left.
“Israel views with utmost severity the imposition of sanctions on citizens of Israel. The issue is in a pointed discussion with the US,” Netanyahu said in a statement circulated by the Government Press Office.
The sanctions apply to an organization called Hashomer Yosh, which the Times of Israel describes as a group that “arranges for volunteers to provide help and support for at least 26 illegal farming outposts in the West Bank, among other activities.”

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday rebuffed a Biden administration plea seeking to revive the latest plan to tackle federal student loan debt.
The court in a brief order denied an emergency request filed by the administration seeking to lift a nationwide injunction imposed by an appeals court. There were no noted dissents. The order said the appeals court that is currently handling the case should "render its decision with appropriate dispatch."

Former University of Pennsylvania president Liz Magill will join Harvard Law School’s Center on the Legal Profession this fall just nine months after resigning from her previous role following a congressional hearing in which she downplayed a culture of antisemitic harassment on her campus.
Magill’s role with the law school will focus on research rather than teaching, and the former university president will not receive a salary for the temporary position, the Daily Pennsylvanian reported. Magill joins former Harvard president Claudine Gay on the Harvard faculty. Gay resigned the Harvard presidency in January over a drawn-out plagiarism scandal

Still think Democrats are truly confident that Kamala Harris can win the election? I don't even think the Biden-Harris administration thinks she'll win. Let's consider the evidence.
First, you have the Biden-Harris administration trying, yet again, to put Trump in prison with the latest indictment from special counsel Jack Smith. The Supreme Court eviscerated Smith's case earlier this year with its immunity ruling, and not willing to accept defeat, he tried again, mere months before the presidential election.
It's hard to believe that the Biden-Harris administration is still using the Justice Department against Trump to stop him, but there must be a reason.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has removed over one million people from the state’s voter rolls in an ongoing effort to bar ineligible voters, including non-citizens, from polling day.
The move on voter fraud comes 69 days out from the Tuesday, November 5 2024 presidential election.
Newsweek reports the removal of 1.1 million people from the voter rolls, which include those who have moved out of state, are deceased, or aren’t American citizens, came since the signing of Senate Bill 1 (SB 1) into law in September 2021.
At the time, the law was seen

A three-judge panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit affirmed Tuesday illegal aliens do not have Second Amendment rights.
They did so by pointing to United States v. Portillo-Munoz, “which prohibits an illegal alien from possessing a firearm or ammunition.”
This prohibition was challenged by Defendant-Appellant Jose Paz Medina-Cantu, who was arrested July 13, 2022, for ” possession of a firearm and ammunition as an illegal alien…and illegal reentry into the United States.” Medina-Cantu argued that the firearm charges should be dismissed in light of Bruen (2022), but the Fifth Circuit explained that Bruen did not alter the prohibition contained in Portillo-Munoz.

While the Trump campaign, Republican National Committee, Republican governors and Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill work to keep illegal immigrants and non-citizens from voting in U.S. elections, Democrats are fighting against their efforts and threatening to shut down the government over voter integrity legislation. "A conservative-backed push for stricter proof-of-citizenship requirements for voting could complicate efforts to avert a government shutdown next month. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have acknowledged a stopgap of some kind, also known as a continuing resolution (CR), will be necessary to keep the government funded past Sept. 30," The Hill reports. "But calls are growing among House conservatives

NEW YORK - Sarah Palin on Wednesday won her bid for a new trial against the New York Times (NYT.N), opens new tab over an editorial that the former Alaska governor said was defamatory.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Palin can try again to prove that the Times should be liable for a 2017 editorial that incorrectly linked her to a mass shooting six years earlier that killed six people and seriously wounded Democratic U.S. congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Media critics, and Palin herself, have viewed the case as a possible vehicle to overturn New York Times v. Sullivan,

Mark Zuckerberg’s letter to Chairman Jim Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee on Facebook’s censorhip in cooperation with government authorities is a document of multifaceted interest. It warrants close examination. Indeed, close reading is required. See the text of the letter below. Professor Philip Hamburger takes up one facet of the letter in the Wall Street Journal column “The ‘Tell’ in Zuckerberg’s Letter to Congress” (behind the Journal’s paywall). Subhead: “He neither admits nor denies that Meta bowed to government censorship pressure.” Professor Hamburger writes: “The aim, presumably, is to avoid having Meta treated as a state actor
