The Dow plummeted more than 800 points, and the Nasdaq was set to plunge into a correction on Friday, falling more than 10% from its July peak after weak employment numbers aggravated worries of a slowdown in the US economy, while Amazon and Intel’s downbeat forecasts dampened sentiment.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped 918 points, or 2.3%, to 39,429. The S&P 500 dropped 2.5%, and the Nasdaq slid 2.8%.
The S&P 500 hit its lowest level since July 11 and the Dow was on track for its biggest two-day percentage fall since early March 2023.

A Mississippi congressman proposed a bill that would revoke Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail. Now that Republicans are calling for his removal from the committee investigating the assassination attempt, the Democrat is downplaying how the bill would threaten the former president’s safety.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., introduced the Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act in April, which would revoke Secret Service protection for those sentenced following conviction for a federal or state felony with a prison term.

Georgia has been on Donald Trump’s mind since his achingly close margin of defeat there in 2020. This time around, polls suggest he won’t need a post-election phone call to state election officials to find him the votes — he’s gaining the votes he needs to win all on his own.
The former president had maintained a continuous lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average over the incumbent president here since last year. Joe Biden hadn’t led in a single poll since November. Had he stayed in the race, its outcome was nearly a foregone conclusion.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ entry into the contest has only served to narrow Trump’s polling lead.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday condemned the “deeply flawed” Venezuelan election results that said the opposition candidate did not win.
In a statement, Blinken said the United States applauds the 12 million Venezuelan people who participated in the July 28 presidential election but said President Nicolás Maduro was not the real winner. The National Electoral Council (CNE) declared Maduro the winner, despite not publishing precinct-level results from the voting machines.

In remarks to a Catholic group, JD Vance attacked Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for having “a sociopathic attitude” about families and children.
“One of the politicians that I criticised is AOC,” said Vance in 2021, while campaigning for the US Senate seat in Ohio he would win the following year.
“Maybe AOC hasn’t found the right person, whatever the case may be. AOC has said basically – if you look at her public remarks on this – that it’s immoral to have children because of climate change concerns. Right? This is, let’s just be direct, a sociopathic attitude towards family.”

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) said he thinks that Russia agreed to the prisoner swap announced Thursday because they think former President Trump is “going to win” the upcoming election.
Burgum joined Fox News Channel’s Dana Perino and Bill Hemmer on Thursday where he said it was a “day of gratitude and celebration” that Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former Marine Paul Whelan were able to return home. “The reason why Russia wanted to do the deal now is that they think that President Trump’s gonna win and they don’t want to deal with him,” Burgum said in comments highlighted by Mediaite.

Who the heck came up with the vile idea of letting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, architect of 9/11, off with a plea deal?
J.D. Vance, a combat veteran of the George Bush-led wars set off as a result of that act, said what a lot of us would like to hear said, according to Fox News:
During a campaign speech Wednesday in Glendale, Arizona, Trump campaign vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance slammed the plea deal taken by three of the terrorists behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks awaiting trial in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

The White House on Thursday trumpeted what it called a “joyous day” as Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich and former Marine Paul Whelan were released as part of a major prisoner swap with Russia.
The exchange of prisoners involved several countries in addition to the U.S. and Russia and comes after Gershkovich had been sentenced to 16 years in prison in what American officials called a sham trial. Whelan was arrested in 2018 and later convicted on spying charges that he and his family have denied.

It’s easy to fall for the media’s uber-hype and begin to imagine the unthinkable -- that Kamala Harris can actually win. The opposite conclusion is accurate. She represents a perfect storm forming that will permanently collapse her party's burning house.
A happy set of circumstances brought us here.
The first was Joe Biden’s path to victory in 2020, which began in South Carolina during the Democratic primaries.
In a deal with Rep. James Clyburn, the necessary votes were delivered to Biden in exchange for appointing both a Black female vice president and Supreme Court justice.

On Saturday afternoon, a Hezbollah rocket fired from southern Lebanon struck a soccer field in the village of Majdal Shams in Israel’s north, killing 12 children.
For the last 10 months, many have warned that Israel is on the brink of a major war with Hezbollah, the Iranian proxy terror group that controls southern Lebanon. But the truth is that Hezbollah has been fighting—and winning—in Israel’s north since October 8. Since that time, Hezbollah has essentially redrawn the northern border of Israel by pummeling the border towns daily with rockets, leaving 225 square miles unlivable for Israelis and displacing around 80,000 Israeli citizens.

President Trump was invited by the Black Journalists of America to be a guest at a debate or conversation with his opponent.
But no opponent showed up; it was a set-up … that’s what the left does.
ABC’s Rachel Scott submarined the former president right off the bat. She was arrogant, rude, and so unserious. She was just a hit-person, disrespectful and oozing contempt. Like the rest of the left, she didn't play fair. But, no matter, Trump can handle himself with far more aplomb and respect for his interrogators than those on the left ever do.

Iran has hardly been shy about articulating its genocidal objectives against Israel. Iran's newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, in early July, reaffirmed "Tehran's dedication to destroying Israel." This aim, he added, is "rooted in the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic."
The question, therefore, is what exactly is to be done to prevent a nuclear catastrophe initiated by Iran, one that could arrive at any moment?"In the Middle East, Iran is virtually behind all the terrorism.... When he founded the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khomeini pledged, 'We will export our revolution to the entire world. We will export the Islamic revolution to the entire world'...
