Undaunted, Unafraid, ‘Serene’: Trump
Details His ‘Painful’ Experience of
Assassination Attempt

Donald Trump told the Republican National Convention (RNC) Thursday that, despite the pain and near-death experience of Saturday’s assassination attempt, he felt “serene” because “I had God on my side.” President Trump began by thanking Americans for the love and support they’ve shown. “As you already know, the assassin’s bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life. So many people have asked me what happened,” he said. “And therefore I will tell you exactly what happened, and you’ll never hear it from me a second time, because it’s actually too painful to tell.” Yet he said he felt God’s presence that day,

This speech has had beautiful and poignant moments....but it's time to end it. It's been almost 2 hours. That said: 1. The beginning was so beautiful. 2. The moment with the firefighters uniform was amazing 3. Melania is simply stunning, and really highlights what a sow's ear Jill is!

He seemed to start out too reserved, and I was thinking, uh oh, don't "moderate.". They're the enemy. But then, Trump was Trump. Unfortunately, peace in our time is not possible. They drew first blood.

I loved every minute of it. He was warm, sincere, hopeful, determined and funny as hell. He basked in the love of his supporters and he returned it a hundred fold. Personal stories about so many of the people at the convention. So many great lines, but my favorite was about the chart that he turned to look at before the bullet hit him. “I never got to see it on Saturday. It’s a nice chart.” This guy is one of a kind and we are so blessed to have him as our candidate and our leader. No one else comes close, democrat or Republican.

I'm good with the President's entire speech. Very appealing and very emotional. Sincerity was extraordinary. First time I got to see "The Chart". We saw a lot more of the human side of Trump tonight. Solid performance. But tomorrow, the gloves must be off to keep his boot on the neck of the dims and biden the cheater or whoever replaces him as the dims' candidate, that is.

The ditch was great, and had many powerful, sincere, beautiful moments. You could see his humility in realizing the miracle that he is even here. But after an hour, ir did veer into a "stump/rally speech" for a bit, repeating his campaign trail rhetoric, which most everyone had heard before, making it longer than needed. You have to hold the attention of all listening, not just your "fans", for lack of a better word, and people will start to turn out after that long. It's not a slam against Trump, just a fact. I will add this, too, though - the whole convention had such great energy and joy. Van Jones mentioned this on CNN, comparing it to Obama in 2008. That made David Axelrod all pouty, saying the difference was that people outside the Dem party liked Obama, which is not true for Trump. Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Dave. Even ol' FRANK LUNTZ was impressed! ALSO, Eric Trump was great tonight!

Thanks to C-Span, we watched every second of it without the extraneous blather of the talking heads on Fox. I loved the speech and didn't care that it was so long. Given that he was only giving the speech by the grace of Almighty God, I could have listened to him recite the NYC phone book and not been bored. As for the speech, he was funny, intense and yet humble. He truly understands how close he came to meeting our Maker in person. One other thing. I loved the way he refused to say Dementia Joe's name. The ultimate dis!! Perhaps he could just refer to He Who Shall Not Be Named as "Bidemort!!"

DNC Still Trying to Lock It In for Biden 4 replies
Posted by Dreadnought 7/20/2024 1:10:01 AM Post Reply
Despite the fact that Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries bullied the DNC into a temporary delay in holding a so-called "virtual roll call" to nominate President Joe Biden weeks before the Democrat National Convention, the DNC decided today to stick to their plans to nominate Biden early and lock him in as the candidate in early August. Chaos reigns still in the Democrat Party, as does the civil war that threatens to demolish the party even before they likely lose spectacularly this November. By now the vast majority of Democrats--if you believe the polling--want Biden to bow out of the race, and momentum has built

Given Joe Biden's issues, it often sparks the thought, "Who is running things?" since Biden seems not to know what is going on so much of the time. Biden is now "isolating" in Rehoboth Beach, allegedly with COVID. As we noted at various spots coming back from Las Vegas to Delaware, Biden was not wearing a mask, and he had trouble even getting into a car at one point. But just after 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Biden (or the intern who tweets from his account) began posting a slew of things about watching former President Donald Trump's RNC remarks because he was sick. If that were true,

Leaders of labor unions are reportedly backing away from President Joe Biden, suggesting they want another Democrat candidate in his place. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), are actively courting support from union workers who are increasingly out of line with the Democrat Party’s upper-middle-class leftism. On Friday, leaders with Local 3000 of the United Food and Commercial Workers of Washington publicly demanded Biden quit his reelection bid. “If President Biden continues to demonstrate that he is unable to effectively campaign, and subsequently loses in November,

One of the problems with Joe Biden has always been is that he doesn't live in reality. He makes up things that aren't true, in order to pander to audiences or to pump himself up. He verbally attacks people who dare to challenge him, He often responds with lies. But that not living in reality has carried over to his team and his family, I think, when it comes to the present situation that he's in, as top Democrats engage in an effort to shove him out. Meanwhile, the leaks about what's going on behind the scenes continue. The campaign had an "all staff call"

Two leaders of the rebellion appear to be Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Both are longtime allies of Biden, but after several devastating media reports on Wednesday, their alliance appears to be breaking apart over fears that the president’s refusal to quit the presidential race will lead to historic losses in down-ballot races.

I'm seriously getting whiplash with all this talk about whether Biden is dropping out or staying in. For the past day, it sounded like he was all but certain to be dropping out. Right now? Less so. For starters, Biden released a statement Friday indicating that he'll be back on the campaign next week. “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights

What happened last night in Israel was unprecedented. While investigators are still gathering details, Israeli authorities believe that a car-sized Iranian turboprop drone launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia group managed to enter Israeli airspace undetected, flew over the American consulate in Tel Aviv, and exploded upon impact with an apartment building, killing at least one Israeli and wounding nearly a dozen more. Israeli officials believe that the target of the attack was the U.S. mission and American diplomatic personnel. The drone, according to a preliminary assessment, was launched from Yemen. It flew over 1,000 miles

WASHINGTON — Members of President Joe Biden’s family have discussed what an exit from his campaign might look like, according to two people familiar with the discussions. The overall tone of the conversations has been that any exit plan — should Biden decide to take that step, as some of his closest allies increasingly believe he will — should put the party in the best position to beat former President Donald Trump while also being worthy of the more than five decades he has served the country in elected office, these people said. Democratic voters overwhelmingly chose Joe Biden to run for president as their standard bearer. Of course, he didn't have any competition. Any Democrat of stature — Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren — refused to take him on, and besides, none of them could make the argument they were any younger than the president. Now the "party of the little guy" is ejecting the people's choice for president because the elites are struck dumb with terror at the prospect of being swamped in the House and Senate races this fall. As long as it was just Biden's hide on the line, the elites could accept a close loss

About 2 in 10 Democrats don’t believe she would, and another 2 in 10 say they don’t know enough to say. Since Biden’s debate debacle on June 27, many Democrats have privately and even openly looked to Harris to step in and succeed Biden as the party’s presidential nominee.

Donald Trump may well have sealed the outcome of the 2024 election with a performance on Thursday night in Milwaukee that has largely been unmatched in recent American political history. The former president eschewed the polarization and division that has marked much of his rhetoric in the past. In his speech officially accepting the Republican Party's nomination there were only a couple of references to the 2020 election. Trump was able to hit on key messages when speaking about topics like inflation, and especially immigration, in ways that were compelling and arguably responsive to the fundamental concerns of Americans. I say this not to engage in hyperbole,

For the first time, researchers have voted to eliminate scientific names of organisms because they are offensive. Botanists decided that more than 200 plants, fungi and algae species names should no longer contain a racial slur related to the word caffra, which is used against Black people and others mostly in southern Africa. The changes voted on today at the International Botanical Congress in Madrid mean that plants such as the coast coral tree will, from 2026, be formally called Erythrina affra, instead of Erythrina caffra.
