WASHINGTON – President Biden told a black radio station in an interview released Thursday that he understood their struggle for representation — because he didn’t think Catholics could be president before John F. Kennedy was elected more than six decades ago.
Biden, 81, told Pennsylvania radio host Andrea Lawful-Sanders that he knew what his nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court meant to “a young girl who is in school and having trouble.”
“I looked at John Kennedy and said, ‘Well, he — John — he got elected. Why can’t I get elected?'” the president said. “People need things to look up to.”

It was 248 years ago today that the world found out that the Continental Congress in Philadelphia was really up. Rather than trying to reconcile with England, they decided to break, completely. More than that, these 56 men from all 13 colonies decided to lay out for all the world, and history, to see why it was they chose this path. The idea had been decided earlier, the language labored over, and the printer finally got the finished product to make copies so the colonists could be told what their leaders ultimately decided. It was the debut of the Declaration of Independence.

"Congress shall make no law," the First Amendment begins and, in an ideal world, the Founders would have put the period after "law," as you're sure to agree after reading the latest assault on one of our two most important constitutional guarantees.
What we need right now is the late, great George Carlin to remind everyone that "Political correctness is America's newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance."
"It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people's language with strict codes and rigid rules," Carlin continued. "I'm not sure that's the way to fight discrimination."

Four migrants from Venezuela appeared in court Tuesday after being arrested and charged with choking and robbing a man at knifepoint on a Chicago mass transit Pink Line train in February.
The four accused were identified as Carlos Carreno-Carreno, 20, Wilker Gutierrez-Sierra, 21, Fernando Loyo-Rodriguez, 22, and Yonnier Guasamucare-Garcia, 18, all Venezuelan nationals living in Chicago’s shelter system.
The four Venezuelans were arrested after a Feb. 17 attack on a 49-year-old man from the suburban town of Cicero.
Along with their court date, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) released video of the attack for the first time in the case.

A San Antonio, Texas, homeowner armed with a shotgun killed an alleged intruder who reportedly lunged at him just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
CBS Austin reported that the alleged intruder came to the front door seeking entry to the home, and the homeowner told him to leave. The alleged intruder then reportedly sought entrance again, and was again told to leave. Thereafter, the homeowner “heard noises in the backyard and upon investigation, encountered the same man.”
The homeowner then grabbed his shotgun and was standing with his wife when the intruder allegedly lunged at him. The homeowner fired one round, fatally wounding the alleged intruder.

The illegal alien from Venezuela charged with the rape and murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray is the son of a former Maduro regime official.
Johan Jose Martinez Rangel, 22, is one of two men accused of Nungaray’s murder in Houston, Texas last month.
Yet it has now been revealed that he is the son of a former official for Venezuela’s socialist regime, making his illegal entry into the United States all the more egregious.
Mail Online reports:
Following Martinez Rangel’s arrest, Venezuelans from his home state of Guarico began flagging on social media that his mother Nazareth Rangel Palacios is a staunch supporter of Nicolas Maduro and served as a councilwoman for his party.

Donald Trump has understandably been unrelenting in his criticism of Joe Biden over the years, in part because he's a political rival and also because he appears to genuinely not like Biden.
I mean, who could blame him?
That criticism increased tenfold, of course, as the lawfare tactics escalated, with Trump using every tool at his disposal, most notably his social media platform Truth Social, to hammer home the message about how in his view the Biden family, but Joe most notably, was crooked and corrupt.
One criticism Trump has faced since 2016 including from some on the right is that he doesn't have a filter

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is continuing her quest to raise taxes. She is now trying to convince the moderate Democrats and those who are against tax hikes to pass the progressives' tax hikes.
For years, we have heard Democrat politicians criticize corporations that employ millions of people for not paying higher taxes. That may sound like a great idea — if it were realistic. Corporations will never pay their "fair share" in taxes. If Congress ultimately decides to raise the corporate tax, that will be a tax on the consumers because those corporations will raise prices to cover their costs and offset what they would be paying in taxes.

The Fourth of July. It has a certain ring to it, doesn't it? I always remember the father of a friend of mine saying that we should always refer to it as Independence Day because every country has a July 4, but the phrase "Fourth of July" has long been part of our lexicon.
But it could've been different. Initially, our Independence Day was going to be the Second of July.
"There’s no doubt the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in July 1776," writes Scott Bomboy of the National Constitution Center. "But which date has the legitimate claim on Independence Day: July 2 or July 4??"

The murder rate in socialist Venezuela has fallen to a 22-year-low as violent criminals moved to the United States and other parts of the continent.
The South American country, which over the past decade has suffered one of the world’s most severe economic and humanitarian crises, has seen its own population plummet as millions of Venezuelans seek opportunities elsewhere.
However, this has also led to an exodus of large numbers of the country’s violent criminals, many of whom have sought “refuge” in the U.S. at the invitation of the Bien regime.
The Daily Mail reports:
Once deemed the world’s most dangerous city, Caracas has seen homicides fall by a staggering 25 percent

I'm not sure who thought rolling Joe Biden out of bed at 7:45 p.m. for a speech attacking the Supreme Court was a great idea.
The White House and the Biden campaign are colluding to contain the fallout from Biden's disastrous debate performance last week, and they decided a short address to the nation to react to the Supreme Court decision in Trump v. United States would be helpful. Naturally, just as Biden's brief appearance after the release of the Hur report was a bad idea, so was this.
For one thing, when I say Biden's address Monday was short, that's an understatement.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reportedly flying illegal aliens, deported by former President Donald Trump’s administration, back into the United States.
Biden’s DHS is carrying out the little-known program, according to the Washington Free Beacon, where illegal aliens from Cameroon who were deported by the Trump administration are now being flown back into the United States despite having been found to have invalid asylum claims.
The Free Beacon‘s Joseph Simonson reports:
The Biden administration is flying previously deported Cameroonians whose asylum claims were determined to be invalid back into the United States, according to interviews with Immigration and Customs Enforcement staff
Comments:
Excellent history lesson, much needed in this day and age.
