Justice Amy Coney Barrett painted Big Tech’s suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop stories four years ago as a safeguard against foreign interference in an official Supreme Court ruling on Wednesday.
In what could have been a landmark censorship case, Barrett, who wrote the majority opinion in Murthy v. Missouri, characterized tech giants’ reactionary censorship of the laptop story as a good-faith effort to minimize Russian meddling in the 2020 election.

Clueless or compromised? “Acts” may be the operative word in that headline.

Nice to see good intentions is all the goobernment needs to wash any rights protected by the Constitution. It's as if she has become the ultimate leftist judge. It's all about feelings and to Hades with law.

There has been an unfortunate pattern, starting with that unimpressive (to say the least) token Sandra Day O'Connor. A pattern. Without exception.
Just saying.

Whether they like it or not, the tech giants' social media platforms have become part of "the press" that is addressed in the First Amendment. And where it says "Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of...the press" - the statement has been interpreted by the SC to apply to the entire federal government. By her logic, an Executive Order authorizing the confiscation of firearms would be permissable as a "good-faith effort" to minimize homicides in the U.S. We saw one "good-faith effort" after another by the federal and state governments to keep us safe from the Wuhan flu.

Well, maybe she needs the money. Hunter just admitted tax fraud, he didn't repay any of it.

Is Barret that Stupid or that Naive to believe the FBI has the best interest of America at Heart. More likely though, she's a Francis style papist and is just EVIL to the core.

The FBI-approved, "Leftists of DC," must have her children in their crosshairs and recently communicated intimate details of the family's schedule to her... just for her 'awareness' now of course. /s

I hereby pose a counter-factual. Barrett is actually anticipating a Trump presidency and providing him with the power to do what the democrat cabal has been doing in terms of manipulating the "news" by censoring unfavorable facts and opinions. Likewise, her position on lack of standing in the Idaho abortion case had the result of defusing a potentially damaging issue. Is it possible that she is simply playing for time until the election to boost Trump's chances? I hope so, but we shall see.

The TECH GIANTS were responding to what the FBI and other intelligence sources were saying to them. So, the question she had to answer was not "was the laptop real" but rather "if the laptop HAD been Russian disinformation... did the media respond properly?".
That is what makes this so insidiously dark and evil. The media was, once again, lied to by a government whose intent was to mislead.
The media was the messenger. The original source of the message is what needs a kick in the teeth.

I'm convinced the only way we will overcome left-wing censorship is with right-wing competition... but will right-wing platforms be able to stand up to government intimidation? And can they become successful quickly enough?
