President Trump’s vice-presidential search is in the home stretch. Trump must pick a running mate prior to the Republican convention in mid-July, but he has ample incentive to pick one sooner. The sooner he makes his pick, the sooner that individual can prepare for a vice-presidential debate, which could be held as soon as July.
Still, Trump has kept people guessing, as he likes to do.

Hope he doesn't pick a member of congress or a governor. We need more of them. Not less. Hope it is Vivek. He's young, incredibly smart, articulate, a successful business person and, since he's not white, can't be credible accused of being a white racist.

I vote Sarah Palin. I know she won't be but all the names so far - not sure about any of them.

Are you kidding, #1? The left has called Larry Elder, a black man, a white supremacist. Skin color only protects democrats.
As to the article - I would be happy with JD Vance as VP.

Charlie (the writer of this article) said on his show today that replacing JD in the Senate (if he were picked at Veep) would be no problem -- the Republican governor could appoint another -- maybe even Vivek.

Watched Vance since his book. He is profoundly insightful, capable of taking and supporting rationale positions in an electorate that cannot agree on the color of the sky, and understands the dynamics how how the nation is changing. 100% supportive if him as pres in waiting.
He does have history that the mindless will try to exploit….stemming from is younger role as a venture capitalist (and without venture investing we would stagnate. But his plusses are so large…It will be a race between Joe and Kamelia as to who backs out of debates first.

I’m good with this. He is a young, vibrant, uncompromising conservative and is promising presidential material.

This particular VP is as consequential to America as President Trump. This VP we must know will carry on MAGA policies, continue the courageous clean-out of so much federal employment corruption and waste. We cannot afford to get out Trump back in and because he has only four years, replaced by one who goes back to wimp Bush Republicanism. As soon as GHW Bush was sworn in, instead of being the third term of Reagan as he promised, the establishment undid Reaganism fast as they could.
I like Vivek but he is untested in elected office or any political position of authority. He says all the right things but we have no evidence of his doing what he says. Stellar businessman but he is not ready for VP of the USA. We must know he will continue what Trump starts.

I correct that last sentence - we must know this next VP will be as devoted to MAGA as Trump. I have no problem with J.D. Vance at all.

I liked Hillbilly Elegy and am glad JD has advanced to his current position.
But I'm not sure his is electable presidential material. Now or ever.
And electability is key. After DT leaves office in January, 2029.
So he's not at the top of my VP wish list.
And Vivek isn't even remotely electable to POTUS in this country.
No matter how smart he might be.
My top VP choice is Mike Pompeo. He is 60.
Definitely good for two terms after he takes office in 2029.

JD would be great, but I don't trust DeWine to appoint a Conservative replacement

How much preparation for a debate with Kamala Harris does anyone need.
Simply ask her how successful she was with the border crisis.

If you want to know Vance, read his book, and review his behavior since he became an unlikely Senator. He would be my choice, but others mentioned are OK also. Please, not a woman.

I've read that J.D. Vance and Don Jr. are best friends and Don Jr. would love to have his dad choose J.D. Vance. He definitely is smart and well spoken.

I like JD Vance for VP. Although frankly, I did not like Hillbilly Elegy. It was a wonderfully written book but it gave a totally different perspective of life growing up as someone whose parents came from Kentucky to make a better life. In fact, I grew up two streets over from JD but decades earlier and lived a totally different life thanks to parents and their faith based values. I did see many families very similar to JD’s growing up though, but there were many families similar to my own also. Nevertheless, he is a fine man and has overcome many obstacles in his early life and for that, I cannot praise him enough. I, too, believe he would be an excellent choice for VP. He is smart, articulate and will not be pushed around. He is grounded by the experience of living the American dream. He understands and has lived the very ethos of this country. In my humble opinion, he would be an excellent choice.
I cannot agree with Mike Pompeo for VP. I do not trust him. There are those who believe he was secretly working against President Trump like many in his administration during his first term. We do not need that again.
I do like Vivek and believe he should have a big presence in President Trump’s administration. I would like to see a position created for him to be the guy who will clean out the enemy/deep state embedded in the government. This is a pivotal job and needs someone who has the courage and will to act and I believe he is just the man for the job.

How about Valentina Gomez, currently a candidate for Missouri Secretary of State? She is feisty.

Vance appears to be a well-grounded individual. While I do not know him well as a senator, his political credentials are a big plus. I tend to play the long game - is there any dirty laundry in his past that the msm could tear him apart with, does he have the ability to neuter the msm when necessary, can he be a Maga2 draw at the ballot box, does he have the right hutspa to take over at the Resolute Desk, and can he become the face of the republican party if there is a future call for him to do so. If yes, let's roll.
