President Joe Biden welcomed Kenya’s President William Ruto to the White House Thursday for a state visit, marking 60 years of relations between countries.
The state visit is the first time in more than 15 years that an administration has held such a visit for the leader of an African nation.
During the visit, President Biden announced his intent to designate Kenya as a major non-NATO U.S. ally, calling it "a fulfillment of years of collaboration.”

A judge drastically slashed the bail for an illegal alien who is accused of killing a Washington State trooper earlier this year, drawing an angry response from the dead lawman’s family.
Last week, Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Richard Okrent cut the bail for 32-year-old Raul Benitez Santana who was being held in the county jail from $1 million to $100,000, according to Fox News which cited online jail records.
Santana has been behind bars since March for the death of WSP Trooper Christopher M. Gadd, a 27-year-old husband and two-year-old daughter who will now have to grow up without her dad. [Video]

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle is telling Americans not to believe their lying eyes, that President Biden’s economy is fantastic and they are better off economically than they mistakenly believe.
The condescension and gaslighting have kicked into full gear as the presidential election nears. Despite Americans struggling to put food on the table, a roof over their heads, and clothes on their children’s backs, Ruhle is telling them they are basically dimwitted and don’t appreciate how good they have it.
“We need an economic explainer,” Ruhle told the president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Austan Goolsbee. “People are confused, they’re exhausted, but they’re also doing quite well.”

President Joe Biden has finally said what millions of Americans are thinking: that former President Donald Trump will win the 2024 election.
"We cannot win this reelection.. we can only reelect Donald Trump!" Biden said while speaking to a group of rallygoers in Missouri. [Video]
Recent polls show that Trump leads Biden in key battleground states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Trump holds 48 percent of the vote in these crucial states, while Biden has just 44 percent.
It is important to note that Biden won several key battleground states in 2020, including Arizona.

President Joe Biden is blaming record-setting levels of illegal immigration to the United States on congressional Republicans, suggesting they are standing in the way of “border enforcement.”
On Thursday, a bill to expand legal immigration while permitting tens of thousands of migrant encounters along the U.S.-Mexico border failed in the Senate by a 43-50 vote.
The bill would have, among other things, increased annual green card admissions by 50,000, expedited work permits for migrants released into the U.S. interior, and allowed some 35,000 migrant encounters at the border before the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) could enforce border controls.

Former President Donald Trump has broken political norms by visiting one of the most deep-blue areas in New York City, a town not necessarily known for its kindness to Republicans.
Trump rallied a crowd of what his campaign estimated to be 25,000 supporters at Crotona Park in the Bronx on Thursday, far more than the initial 3,500 it said were expected to attend. Those numbers appeared to also include those lined up outside the event.
"I'm here tonight to declare we are going to turn New York City around, and we are going to turn it around very, very quickly," Trump said after taking the stage, vowing to bring back safety

Now we know for certain: the diary, like the laptop, is real — and its contents are alarming.
So why isn't the media all over this?
In 2019, Ashley Biden, the then 37-year-old daughter of President Biden and his wife Jill, wrote in her journal about showering with her father at an inappropriate age as well as her fears that, as a child, she was sexually abused. Explosive stuff. Not that you would have heard about it, thanks to a near-complete, years-long media blackout.
After undergoing treatment in rehab, Ashley moved to a halfway house in Florida, where she left the diary under a mattress.

Bloomberg's pollster is out with a new batch of its regularly-released swing state data -- and it's (mostly) more of the same. We'll get to my question about Kamala Harris below, but first, here's what the fresh polling shows: Donald Trump leads narrowly-to-modestly over Joe Biden in five of the seven battlegrounds surveyed. Trump and Biden are tied in Nevada -- a good result for Biden, compared with both the recent New York Times poll showing him down double digits there, and the state average. Biden leads only in Michigan, and only by one point. As usual, the 'big three' midwestern states are extremely close,

Big Government bureaucrats and power-hungry politicians have no greater enemy than the serious and sustained transparency and accountability that would flow from having a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on the books that sends violators to jail.
Americans saw this week one of the most outrageous examples of what happens when the FOIA is toothless since Hillary Clinton got away with destroying 33,000 of her emails while secretary of state. And the FOIA has been toothless since LBJ signed the measure into law in 1966.
That latest example is now known—thanks to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic—to be Dr. David Morens,

It takes a special kind of stupid to mandate electric vehicles that many people can't afford, charged on a power grid that can't support them. But beyond even that, it takes a special kind of magical thinking to mandate electric trains that haven't been invented.
Welcome to California, the land of magical thinking.
By law, "all new passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs sold in California will be zero-emission vehicles [ZEV] by 2035." ZEVs include EVs, hydrogen-powered vehicles, and plug-in hybrids (but not regular hybrids). If Sacramento gets its way, starting in 2030, freight trains will have to meet the same strict standards.

Not willing to reveal his stupidity, the emperor pretended to see the “new clothes” presented to him. He pantomimed putting on the nonexistent “new clothes,” and then paraded about the city in them.

Naturally, Presidentish Joe Biden has decided what Netburn really deserves is a promotion to a U.S. District Court — and Sen Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was having none of it in Netburn's confirmation hearing on Wednesday. Before we get to that, though, a few words about the oh-so-very woke Judge Netburn.

The state Senate approved the bill 29 to 7 after it passed the House earlier this week. The bill is expected to be signed by Republican Gov. Other than “Why?” this is the most common reaction when I share that I attended a Christian college.
Actually, I attended two.
Recent events on college campuses have invited me to reflect on my own college experience — and what it could have been had I attended another school.
At Columbia, I would have fled campus to celebrate Passover safely, rather than hosting a seder of my own and inviting professors, as I did at Hillsdale College.
Hillsdale and Pepperdine regularly invited Jewish guest speakers, for whom students filled lecture halls and commencement spaces to the brim.

The U.S. Supreme Court on May 23 ruled in favor of South Carolina’s redrawn congressional map, reversing a lower court decision.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) challenged the map, arguing legislators were motivated by race when drawing district lines and committed “intentional racial discrimination.”
A panel of federal judges in 2023 said that “race predominated over all other factors” when legislators redrew South Carolina’s First Congressional District, currently represented by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.). The finding was based in part on the movement of more than 30,000 black voters to a different district.

The Supreme Court upheld South Carolina’s congressional map Thursday, ruling that legitimate partisan aspirations rather than nefarious racial motives animated the district drawing process.
The 6–3 decision that split the Court along ideological lines amounted to a victory for Palmetto State Republicans who battled to preserve a more favorable map for their congressional delegation. “The District Court found that South Carolina drew District 1 with a racial ‘target,'” Justice Samuel Alito, who authored the majority opinion, wrote in the decision for Alexander v. Washington—A Senate border bill that was previously blocked by Republicans is seeing dwindling support among members of both parties ahead of another expected vote this week.
During its last floor vote in February, the legislation failed to advance in a 49-50 vote due to opposition from both Democrats and Republicans. It would need 60 votes to overcome the filibuster threshold.
As Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) forges ahead with another vote on the legislation planned for May 23, details about which amendments, if any, will be allowed remain unclear.

In case you somehow missed it, Joe Biden traveled to Detroit on Sunday to deliver a speech before the NAACP in which he attempted to apply some bandages to his bleeding poll numbers among Black voters. To put it mildly, things did not go well. Biden's rambling, confused persona was back on full display as he got a number of words wrong and told fanciful stories from his past that were obviously untrue and in at least a couple of cases physically impossible. But as with all official appearances, the White House was forced to release a transcript of the speech. This involved a cleanup job of daunting proportions
