Stonecrest, Ga. — Hundreds of Air Force members in dress blues joined Roger Fortson's family, friends and others at a suburban Atlanta megachurch on Friday to pay their final respects to the Black senior airman, who was shot and killed in his Florida home earlier this month by a sheriff's deputy.[Snip] The video shows the deputy banging on the door and stepping aside,[Snip]Twice he shouted: “Sheriff’s office! Open the door!”Fortson, who legally owned a firearm, opened the door while holding a handgun pointed toward the floor. The deputy shouted, “Step back!” and then shot Fortson six times. Only afterward did he shout, “Drop the gun! Drop the gun!”

A tragic waste of a promising life. Please dismiss this deputy and withdraw his peace officer license. Yes, opening the door with a gun in hand when the officer supposedly identified himself wasn't smart but how is someone to know that there is really an officer knocking?

Ben Crump is the lawyer....so we can be certain that ALL "news articles" will be entirely fraudulent, and the product of Crump's standard public relations and fraud operation when he moves in.
The article makes it sound like a straight up bad shooting.
I'll reserve judgement, and am FAR, FAR more skeptical than I'd be if Crump wasn't involved. Crump is a money grubbing, lying, crooked, racist hater and anything that he is associated with is guaranteed to be crooked as hell, and the facts obfuscated by professional liars.

Re #1, you have no idea if the reported facts have anything to do with reality. Ben Crump is very well practiced in putting out lying press releases that the Enemedia just publish as if they were proven facts.
Perhaps the facts are like the report says, but when Crump is involved, there is a LOT of doubt.

If he was alone, who was the witness who reported an eye-witness account of all that happened and in what order?
This does not jibe. Girlfriend on facetime reports domestic violence? He was alone. He nswers knocking on door withn gun poimted at floor?
Thiis is very Ben Crumpy.

Police should now make it a policy to never respond to a domestic violence call by going to the door. They should camp outside with a bullhorn and wait for someone to exit the building.

I saw the video when it first happened and my opinion is the deputy was very trigger happy and probably not suited for police work. Having said that, who has a horse drawn carriage for a funeral procession? That’s just weird.

How many police officers are killed in the line of duty every year? And, sadly, the person who usually kills them is black -- and far-too-often gets off with a very light sentence for killing a cop.
I'm sorry, but you never approach a cop holding a gun. I don't care if it is pointed at the ground. That cop would like to go home to his family tonight, and hesitating can be fatal far too often.
There are a lot of facts that need to come out in this case. I won't pass any judgement either way until those facts are presented. But I will also not jump on the automatic "bad cop" emotional garbage. That is for lie-berals.

Rule #1 when the police knock at your door: SIT QUIETLY AND DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!!!
Nothing can mess one's life up faster than an encounter with a poorly trained and supervised cop.

About a year ago 3 cops repeatedly beat on my door at 3am. I didnt know who they were and we live way out in the country. I had a revolver behind my leg when I opened the door. They were there to give me an emergency notification (I didnt hear the phone). I told them I would put my gun away and come out and talk to them. The one doing all the talking said he hoped I would do that. No hotheads, no problems.

There was no mysterey about who was kocking on the door. He called out that he was a sheriff. On the girlfriend's face time you can hear "don't move". This young man might be alive if he'd skipped carrying a gun to the door when a sheriff was knocking.
Would #5 feel the same if they were the victim in a domestic violence incident>

And the usual suspects, Ben Crump and Al Sharpton, are involved already.
