Former President Donald Trump declined to endorse a national abortion ban Monday, instead saying that abortion laws should be left to the states.
“My view is now that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video message posted to his Truth Social page.
He didn’t say after how many weeks of pregnancy he believes abortion should be banned.

This is the right answer. Leave it there. States decide, as it should have been.

The US Constitution gives the Federal Government strictly enumerated powers. Abortion is not one of them. That is what Dobbs decision is all about. There is no right to privacy in the Constitution, so the foundation of Roe was non-existent.

I didn't think he'd come up with a good answer, considering the subject. But he did. I agree 100%.

This is the right answer. There are so many different cultures state to state, different opportunities, different challenges, there is no way the conversation should be at the federal level. I just suspect so strongly that the people who want it federal are the ones fundraising at that level, and who want to sit at the big national table and are used to that. Go.Home.

Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
As it should be.

No matter your personal beliefs, the Supreme Court has ruled that each state can decide for themselves what limits, if any, to place on abortion. Trump has followed the US Constitution in his statement and the Supreme Court ruling. This shows, whether you agree with him or not, that he is the law and order President. Then there is the Biden administration, who loudly and proudly ignore the Supreme Court rulings on issues like student loans and other rulings that they do not agree with. The things in the Constitution are just mere suggestions to Biden and ignored at their convenience and to gain advantage over their opponents

I oppose abortion anywhere, but this is the correct decision on the law. For reasons stated by others above, Congress has no authority to ban abortion. Efforts to do so must be focused at the state level. Of course, opponents face a steep uphill battle in many blue states.

The Supreme Court decided this issue by sending it back to the states which was the correct thing to do. It's not a federal issue and never should be.

President Trump gave a clear and noble speech...abortion is a state issue....not guaranteed by the Federal government as the right to secure happiness...twisted approach for Roe...

We're in agreement with the posters here. Leave the abortion issue with the States.
The Supreme Court said abortion should never have been a federal issue and left it with the States. That's the way it should have been these last 50 years. Senator Lindsay Graham tried to mess it up and wanted a national abortion ban when there is no call for that. Graham caused some trouble with that call.

I totally align with Trump on this.
Really surprised that pro-life LDotters are not screaming in protest.
Like Pence did.
