We all know that the border patrol is very, very busy these days. Very, very, very busy. They're so busy that they are unable to perform the menial task of checking illegal immigrant names against the terror watch list database.
I thought that one of their basic tasks in protecting the border was to identify terrorists and arrest them or send them back to where they came from. Apparently, that's just too difficult. It gets very busy at the border—all that paperwork and then the rush to send the illegals on their way into the interior of the U.S.
So, it's not really border patrol's fault that

Iran reportedly is considering an attack on Israel that would widen the war in the Middle East. This is from the Wall Street Journal:
Israel is preparing for a direct attack from Iran on southern or northern Israel as soon as Friday or Saturday, according to a person familiar with the matter. A person briefed by the Iranian leadership, however, said that while plans to attack are being discussed, no final decision has been made.

Earlier this week, U.S. intelligence reports showed that an attack on Israeli assets by Iran or its proxies could be imminent

The Middle East is on fire, and that fire grows hotter as President Joe Biden alternates between throwing gasoline on it and shutting off the fire hoses.
Iran is threatening retaliation against Israel for the death of one of its top military leaders, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps. Israel launched a strike that killed Zahedi, who was involved in the training of Hamas fighters. Iran is furious over the move, and there have been multiple reports that the nation is not only set on attacking Israel but also the U.S., should we interfere.

At the end of Donald Trump's presidential term, Iran was nearing an economic collapse with little ability to project strength outside of funding terrorist proxies. Internal revolutions were brewing, and the Mullahs were in their weakest position in decades.
Then Joe Biden took over. Since then Iran has been revitalized, seeing significant growth in its military budget due to the waiving of sanctions. The Islamic power has also come far closer to developing usable nuclear weapons. What did the United States get in return? It received a frayed relationship with long-time ally Saudia Arabia and absolute chaos from Kabul to Tel Aviv.

An Alabama man has been charged for his alleged role in detonating an explosive device outside of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office in February, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced.
Law enforcement arrested Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert, 26, on April 10 on charges of malicious use of an explosive and possession of an unregistered destructive device, according to the DOJ.
The explosive device detonated near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street, outside of Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office in downtown Montgomery at around 3:42 a.m. on February 24. Surveillance footage showed a person wearing dark clothes, a mask, and goggles

The House voted on Friday to push a revised version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act re-authorization through a key procedural roadblock after failing to advance the original version earlier this week due to opposition from hardline conservatives.
House Republicans voted along party lines to advance a two-year FISA re-authorization bill after a group of Republicans joined Democrats on Wednesday to vote down a bill to re-authorize FISA for five years and reform the process. Democrats were unified in their opposition, with five Republicans and five Democrats not voting.
FISA authority is set to lapse next week

The bombshell essay penned by veteran NPR editor Uri Berliner this week is reportedly causing "turmoil" at his news organization.
Berliner made waves on Tuesday for calling out the liberal groupthink that has plagued NPR's newsroom, pointing to their mishandling of Russiagate, the Hunter Biden laptop, the COVID lab leak theory and the ongoing Israel-Hamas war as examples of its left-wing bias while prioritizing racial diversity over ideological diversity.
On Thursday, The New York Times detailed the "internal tumult" that has erupted among Berliner's colleagues and NPR leadership. According to their report, the essay was brought up at what was described as a "long-scheduled meet-and-greet"

My last post yesterday was kind of a quick, one-day-news-tour around the wreckage #Bidenomics has left strewn across the American landscape. To wit, the inflation pressures, employment pressures, and unending social reengineering pressures.
Being subject to the progressive grifting regime has not been beneficial in the least for the country's psyche, soul, or security, either safety or financial.
One tidbit that dropped yesterday, which I only bumped up against, was the explosion of credit card delinquencies. In this Biden induced time of wage stagnation and job insecurity coupled with exploding household costs, it's not really surprising when even formerly comfortable people are feeling the pinch.

Thirty percent of black men and 11 percent of black women intend to vote for former President Donald Trump in 2024, Wall Street Journal polling found Thursday, which is a significant increase from 2020 data.
Losing black support would be a blow to President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. Only 12 percent of black men voted for Trump in 2020, voting data shows. There is no compatible 2020 polling for black men.
In 2020, six percent of black women said they would vote for Trump, Associated Press polling found, five points less than the Journal‘s 2024 polling.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Wednesday explained his apparent flip-flop on a controversial surveillance law, saying that he now favors limited reforms after receiving a classified briefing.
Speaker Johnson was asked by reporters why he changed his opinion on reforming Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a controversial surveillance law that is meant to target foreign adversaries, but often surveils Americans’ communications without a warrant. Johnson this week came out against a warrant requirement for Section 702 and moved not to allow an amendment that would have barred intelligence and law enforcement agencies from purchasing Americans’ private information through third-party data brokers. This is considered a run around

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says it is “preposterous” to suggest that President Joe Biden is importing millions of migrants to the United States to inflate political power in favor of Democrats.
During a Senate budget hearing on Wednesday, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) asked Mayorkas if it is a fact “that the number of illegal immigrants that you and the president allow into our country counts for congressional district reapportionment?” Mayorkas initially responded, saying “I’m not sure I understand your question but I can surely share with you that I disagree with its phrasing.”

Tensions surrounding a potential Iranian attack on Israel appeared to reach new heights Thursday as the Israeli military said it was fully prepared for an incoming strike and as multiple international actors warned Tehran against a major assault on the Jewish state.
Israel is “on alert and highly prepared for various scenarios, and we are constantly assessing the situation,” IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said at a press
conference. “We are ready for attack and defense using a variety of capabilities that the IDF has, and also ready with our strategic partners,” he said, referring to the head of US
