“Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan’s portrait of the father of the atomic bomb, won best picture Sunday at the 96th Academy Awards, along with six other awards. The movie dominated the night, earning honors for best director (Nolan), best actor (Cillian Murphy), best supporting actor (Robert Downey Jr.), best original score, best cinematography and best film editing. “Oppenheimer,” a critical darling and box-office smash, went into this year’s Oscars as a clear-cut front-runner, with 13 nods. It previously took home best picture trophies from the 81st Golden Globes and the Producers Guild of America. (The movie was distributed by Universal Pictures, a unit of NBC News’ parent company, NBCUniversal.) The triumph

I watched the movie and it was OKish. I was hopeful that more details of the Manhattan Project would have been included rather than Op's sex life. Seems as tho people's sex life was more important the world changing invention of the atom bomb

No one associated with it should get too excited - this year's nominees included "Barbie". Speaking of which, the low-info crowd will no doubt be screaming that it's another snub for Margo Robbie after she wasn't nominated for Best Actress.

Oppenheimer intentionally made certain that the Communist spy Klaus Fuchs got a clearance after it was denied. Oppenheimer was a traitor, made sure that he bomb design got to the Russians. It's just that simple. He was a Communist sympathizer and traitor.

Oppenheimer is one of the few movies I saw. While the acting was good it was too 'artsy' for me. Lots of scenes where characters are imagining something, flashbacks, and illogical sex scenes. I noticed few Oscar winners were 'people of color', etc... So much for Hollywood embracing DEI.

At a Dutch museum dedicated to preserving the consequences of Jew-hate, a small girl got to experience that hate, too, as baying mobs waving Palestinian flags screamed out their hatred for Jews at the child. Here is what was seen on Twitter: The picture was curiously redolent of Norman Rockwell's famous masterpiece about desegregation of schools titled "The Problem We All Live With," in this illustrative painting: Here's the best account of the context -- from The Guardian of all places: Three-quarters of the Dutch Jewish population – 102,000 people – were killed by the Nazis during the second world war, the highest proportion in western Europe. But, unlike some other countries,

U.S. intelligence agencies are claiming that they “expect” protests to bring down the Israeli government and replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been an obstacle to President Joe Biden’s plans for the Middle East. The claim emerged in the latest “Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community,” and was published by both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times Monday evening, suggesting a coordinated leak to the media. The assessment says: Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has publicly stated his opposition to postwar diplomacy with the Palestinian Authority (PA) toward territorial compromise. Netanyahu’s viability as leader as well as his governing coalition of far-right

There are multiple reports Monday night that Special Counsel Robert Hur, who investigated Joe Biden's handling of classified documents, is no longer a Department of Justice employee and will be testifying at a House Judiciary Committee hearing as a private citizen. The Independent, known as a reliable lefty rag, published a story based on anonymous sources claiming that Hur "arranged his departure from the Department of Justice to be official as of Monday 11 March," specifically so he would not be "bound by the ethical guidelines which govern the behaviour of federal prosecutors" when testifying. According to the story, Hur has also "surrounded himself with Republican partisans and notorious figures

Remember when progressives in Florida sought to use lawfare to take down Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act? It appears that their efforts were all for naught. In a settlement announced Monday, the State of Florida and the plaintiffs challenging the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law have come to an agreement that seeks to balance the educational policy with the rights of LGBTQ individuals. The lawsuit has concluded with both parties agreeing to clarifications designed to mitigate concerns over discrimination and censorship. The state of Florida settled a multi-year suit Monday against the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law, which limits how LGBTQ topics can be discussed and presented in schools.
Biden’s DOA Budget 2 replies

Joe Biden unveiled his 2025 budget proposal earlier today. In general, presidents’ budgets are hardly worth discussing. They project revenue and spending over the next ten years, and if you go back and look at them a few years later, they usually bear no relation to reality. And, in this instance, there is zero chance that Congress will pass anything resembling Biden’s budget, which can best be seen as a campaign document. But, for what it is worth, this is what the Wall Street Journal had to say about it: President Biden proposed Monday a $7.3 trillion budget for the next fiscal year that would raise taxes on wealthy people and

For about a year, I learned foreign languages with Duolingo. I spent extensive time working on Spanish and Japanese, and I dabbled in Welsh, Hebrew, and Italian. Duolingo is an effective and often fun way of learning a new language, despite some annoyances. For starters, Duolingo likes to send way too many notifications. Almost every day without fail, I would get a notification before 7:30 in the morning calling me out for not already spending hours on the app. But there was another thing I noticed early on about Duolingo: there was an awful lot of gayness in the lessons and exercises. I wrote about it last May:

Those being asked to resign include five members of the senior staff, though the names were not made public. Additionally, some vendor contracts are expected to be cut. In a letter to some political and data staff, Sean Cairncross, the RNC’s new chief operating officer,

FBI Director Christopher Wray, along with other government officials, has once again raised the alarm over a sophisticated human smuggling network with direct ties to the Islamic State bringing illegal immigrants and asylum seekers over the southern border. This network, which was initially undetected, could pose a dire threat to national security. During a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Monday, Wray discussed an investigation into this network when information surfaced related to individuals from Uzbekistan and other nations who were aided by a smuggler who was tied to ISIS. The revelation was deemed critical enough to include in President Joe Biden’s top cabinet officials’ morning briefings.

The most obvious thing to leap out of Joe Biden’s weekend interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capeheart was Biden’s abject apology for referring to the fact that Laken Riley’s confessed killer is an illegal alien. However, what that interview also revealed is that Biden has a very specific reason for demanding that Israel call a ceasefire in its war against Hamas: Doing so will allow Hamas to “survive” and “rebuild.” As Israel engages in an existential fight against the self-avowed genocidal forces arrayed against her, Biden is stabbing her in the back. Almost since the beginning of Israel’s war against Hamas, Biden has called for Israel to rein herself
