At least 70 percent of registered Chicago voters say they do not approve of far-left mayor Brandon Johnson’s performance after his first eight months in office, according to a new poll.
The poll, conducted for the education-reform advocacy group Stand for Children, was designed to measure Chicagoans’ opinions on school-choice policy. However, the poll also contained generalized questions about the performance of local politicians. Voters were asked “how you feel each of the following is performing” in response to a list of names that included “Brandon Johnson as Chicago Mayor,” according to poll results obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Stand for Children has not publicly released its poll data on local politicians.

NEW YORK — A jury has awarded an additional $83.3 million to former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who says former President Donald Trump damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.
Friday’s verdict was the second time in nine months that a jury addressed Carroll’s claim that Trump assaulted her in a New York City department store in 1996. Another jury last May found Trump liable for sexual abuse and ordered him to pay $5 million. This defamation trial was over things Trump said about Carroll while he was president. Trump continues to insist he was falsely accused.
The verdict was

Two major exhibition halls and several other display cabinets at the American Museum of Natural History were empty and covered up on Friday morning as the museum shuttered all Native American-related displays to comply with new federal regulations, shocking new photos showed.
The glass cabinets in the museum’s halls dedicated to the Eastern Woodlands and the Great Plains looked eerily abandoned, just hours after museum director Sean Decatur announced the changes in a letter to staff Friday morning. “The halls we are closing are artifacts of an era when museums such as ours did not respect the values, perspectives and indeed shared humanity of Indigenous peoples,”

The Georgia Senate voted on Friday to form a special committee to investigate Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis amid allegations she had an “unprofessional relationship” with a subordinate lawyer prosecuting the election-fraud case involving former president Donald Trump.
Thirty senators voted to form the investigative committee, while 19 were opposed, according to a Fox News report.
Willis is leading the prosecution of the 2020 election-fraud case against Trump and 18 other defendants in Georgia. In August, she indicted Trump and 18 other defendants under Georgia’s version of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statute, or RICO, for their alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Civil rights organizations in Texas have filed a formal letter with the United Nations, raising the alarm on a "deteriorating human rights situation" for LGBTQ+ people in the state.
Equality Texas, ACLU of Texas, GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, and the University of Texas at Austin School of Law Human Rights Clinic submitted the joint letter.
In a press release, political advocacy organization Equality Texas said the letter, addressed to 17 experts, working groups, and special rapporteurs, is meant to illustrate the ways LGBTQ+ Texans are having their rights to non-discrimination, privacy, health, freedom of expression, and education violated.

The United States has never suffered an invasion of the homeland, yet that is what is happening right now.
That statement seems obvious to anyone paying attention to what is happening on the southern border. The word invasion was initially viewed as too harsh of a word. It might be seen as having military connotations or implying military action. Over the course of President Biden’s term in office, the crisis created by an open border with Mexico has been all but ignored by most media outlets except for one. Fox News Channel reports on the border every day. The cable news network’s reporters are on the border and do live shots

The UN relief agency operating in Gaza said Friday that Israel had accused some of its staff of being involved in the October 7 attacks, and that their contracts would be “immediately” terminated.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said Israeli authorities provided the agency “with information” alleging several of its employees participated in Hamas’ murderous rampage into southern Israel, when the militant group killed at least 1,200 people and abducted more than 250 others.
An investigation is being launched into the alleged involvement of the employees and those involved will be held accountable “including through criminal prosecution,”

For some reason, the MSM has been downplaying the brewing constitutional crisis at the border. As Ben Shapiro noted yesterday, none of the major news outlets are giving any serious coverage of the standoff between Texas and the Biden Administration.
As of this morning, when I wrote this, you could go to the websites of The New York Times and Washington Post and not find the story on their front page. If you didn’t already know what was happening, they had no interest in telling you.
Beege wrote a great piece about it yesterday, and I will write something soon, probably next week, when the battle lines are more

At this point, the Biden border crisis is ridiculous.
Not only isn't he securing the border, but his CBP is forklifting up the razor wire Texas put down to help illegal aliens just walk right in. They're actively working against states' ability to defend themselves when they, the federal government, won't do their job to defend the nation. That's how bad the Biden administration is. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) ripped Biden apart for taking something that had been working under former President Donald Trump and destroying it. He explained the Biden border crisis was a humanitarian disaster, with people dying, children and women getting raped, fentanyl flooding in and killing

Former President Donald Trump called on governors to use their National Guard soldiers to remove migrants back across the border. His post on Truth Social follows statements from 25 Republican governors supporting the State of Texas’s standoff against the Biden administration in Shelby Park.
“We encourage all willing States to deploy their guards to Texas to prevent the entry of Illegals, and to remove them back across the Border,” President Trump wrote. “All Americans should support the commonsense measures by Texas authorities to protect the Safety, Security, and Sovereignty of Texas, and of the American people.”

President Joe Biden’s average job approval rating across his third year in office languished at the lowest point of any U.S. president since Jimmy Carter was in the White House, a Gallup poll released Thursday shows.
Biden’s third year extended from Jan. 20, 2023, to Jan. 19, 2024 during which time he had an average job approval rating of 39.8 percent, the Gallup poll reveals.
The Hill points out Biden, whose current job approval rating is 41 percent, fared the worst in polls of all presidents’ ratings since Carter, whose third-year polling average was 37.4 percent before he went on to lose his subsequent reelection campaign.

In the war launched by Hamas and Gazans against Israel on October 7, only one side has publicly and repeatedly promised genocidal extinction to the other. The International Court of Justice has, predictably, decided that the target of that genocidal ambition has to answer for its self-defense.
Weirdly, though, the ICJ decided to creep up on that position, demanding that Israel preserve ‘evidence’ of its genocidal actions while supplying more aid to their enemies at war:
The United Nations’ top court has told Israel it must take measures to prevent its forces from committing acts of genocide against Palestinians — but stopped short of using its power to order a full cease-fire
