Donald Trump earned a historic victory in the Iowa Caucuses Monday night, trouncing his competition so severely that the Associated Press called the race only 31 minutes after the caucus officially began.
“I really think this is time now for everybody — our country — to come together,” Trump said in a gracious victory speech. “We want to come together.
“Whether it’s Republican or Democrat or liberal or conservative, it would be so nice if we could come together and straighten out the world and straighten out the problems and straighten out all of the death and destruction that we’re witnessing.”
With the results of some precincts still outstanding,

Iran is in a proxy war with the United States, and inching ever closer to directly attacking the US.
The proxy war is not new, but it has escalated dramatically since the October 7th Hamas massacre in Israel. There have been over 100 attacks on Americans and American assets, and as John wrote earlier, the Houthis attacked and hit a US ship in the Red Sea, and Iran fired missiles into Iraq either at or near the US Consulate there.
Those missiles were fired from Iranian soil, and Iran took responsibility. Both the attack on an American ship in the Red Sea and the missiles fired from Iran towards the US Consulate

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former President Trump struck conciliatory notes in his Iowa-caucuses victory speech Monday night, praising his vanquished GOP opponents and promised to unite the country and turn it around.
Following his decisive win in the Iowa caucus, Mr. Trump put aside his criticisms of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who late Monday were both trailing Mr. Trump by around 30 points in the Hawkeye State.
“They said you’ll never get over 50,” Mr. Trump told the crowd, promoting a historic win that was projected just a half an hour after the caucus opened. With 95% of the votes counted, Mr. Trump had 51%

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is dropping out of the 2024 race after disappointing results in the Iowa caucuses.
DailyMail.com confirmed the entrepreneur's exit from the race. The 38-year-old came in a distant fourth in the caucuses, the first 2024 contest in the nation, behind former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley. 'I think it is true that we did not achieve the surprise that we wanted to deliver tonight,' he told supporters in Des Moines. 'As of this moment we are going to suspend this presidential campaign ... there is no path for me to be the next president absent

DES MOINES, Iowa - Donald Trump muscled past his rivals to capture the first 2024 Republican presidential contest in Iowa on Monday, according to Edison Research projections, once more asserting his dominance over the party as he seeks a third consecutive nomination.
With Trump's victory seemingly a foregone conclusion before Monday given his sizable lead in opinion polls, the intrigue centered on the race for second place between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley. The two candidates have waged an increasingly bitter battle to emerge as the chief alternative to Trump.

It’s all a con, continued:
Bernie Madoff, the Guinness Book of Records Ponzi operator, had a rule that, for subscribers to the too-good-to-be-true dictum, served as a red flag: The rule: You’re not allowed to ask questions. Just give him as much cash as you can gather, then sit back and reap the totally unqualified and beyond-belief interest on your investment as per an earnings report provided by the accounting firm of Null & Void.
Thus last week’s tale of ESPN, the self-destructive Disney sports network, winning sports Emmys for 13 years based on submitting fabricated names came as a shock — only in that it took so long

The Iran-backed Houthis struck a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden on Monday, U.S. Central Command announced, in what appears to be the terror group’s first successful attack on a U.S.-owned or operated vessel since it began targeting ships in the Red Sea in mid November.
Houthi militants based in Yemen launched an anti-ship ballistic missile at Eagle Bulk Shipping’s Gibraltar Eagle around 4 p.m. local time Monday, CENTCOM said in a statement. No injuries or significant damage were reported.
Eagle Bulk also confirmed that the “unidentified projectile” hit the Gibraltar Eagle about 100 miles offshore southeast of Aden, Yemen.

A 70-year-old woman has been killed and 17 other people injured in what police say was a terrorist attack in Israel.
Two Palestinians from the occupied West Bank have been arrested over the incident in Raanana, about 20km (12.5 miles) north of Tel Aviv.
The suspects allegedly switched between three stolen vehicles and ran over pedestrians in different places.
The attack came as the war between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza passed the 100-day mark. Israeli media reports say the woman who died was stabbed by one of the suspects before he and an accomplice took her car and used it to ram into people.

Donald Trump would be a strong candidate in the 2024 election because he got the big issues right in 2016, says a startling article by a New York Times‘ foremost Never Trumper, Bret Stephens.
The January 11 article was posted under the headline: “The case for Trump … by someone who wants him to lose.”
Stephens wrote that “you can’t defeat an opponent if you refuse to understand what makes him formidable [and] too many people, especially progressives, fail to think deeply about the enduring sources of his appeal.”
On immigration, Stephens wrote:
Arguably the single most important geopolitical fact of the century is the mass migration of people from south to north and

Former NCAA swimmer and activist Riley Gaines was reportedly denied entry at the NCAA annual convention despite having previously been nominated Woman of the Year.
Speaking with Outkick, Riley Gaines said that people in charge of entry would not let her into the convention even after she showed the proper credentials.
“I said, ‘Hold on, what do you mean I’m not allowed in there?’” Riley told the outlet. “I pulled up the email and showed them everything was in place to where I most certainly was allowed in there. And they said, ‘No, we know you have your credentials. But that’s not what we’re talking about. You’re just not allowed in there.’”

Ukraine reportedly shot down two of Russia’s top-tier aircraft over the Azov Sea. One of the planes, a Beriev A-50 is similar to an American AWACS, with a large radar dish mounted above the fuselage of the plane. The price tag of this plane is reportedly over $300 million dollars and Russia may have as few as 9 or 10 of these planes in service.
Ukrainian media reported an A-50 early warning and control aircraft was shot down on Sunday evening shortly after take-off over the Sea of Azov in the Kyrylivka area of Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine…
It’s reported cost per aircraft is a massive $330m.
These AEW&C aircraft are vital

My colleague Brandon Morse wrote an article Friday titled, "Evil Is Real and It Needs to Be Dealt With." In my mind, the terror group/political operation Hamas should be considered one of the worst examples of evil in our world, and they proved it once again by releasing a propaganda video Sunday showing three hostages they took during their Oct. 7 terror attacks. One of the hostages is Noa Argamani, who was brutally hauled away on a motorcycle from the Supernova music festival in heartbreaking footage seen around the world. "Don't kill me!" she was heard
