St. Paul, Minnesota, seated four new City Council members on Tuesday, and now has an entirely female slate of Council members. Additionally, all seven women are under age 40, and six of the seven are women of color. Anika Bowie, Saura Jost, Hwa Jeong Kim and Cheniqua Johnson became the Council's newest members. Rebecca Noecker, Mitra Jalali and Nelsie Yang all won reelection in their districts. All seven members are Democrats but ran on a nonpartisan ballot. Prior to Tuesday, two of the seven council members were male. St. Paul uses ranked-choice voting, meaning voters must rank their preferred candidates.

In the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion means excluding men and it looks like no whites too. What country does the one with the pointed hat represent on the council. A gaggle of young females; I can hear them chatting and giggling away now. I guess they'll all be making cookies and cupcakes for the bake sale.

The Department of Justice wants the Supreme Court to stop Texas from blocking federal Border Patrol agents from a portion of the U.S.-Mexico border near Eagle Pass, southwest of San Antonio. Texas state troopers on Thursday fenced off a public park in Eagle Pass, prompting objections from city officials — and the new filing from the Justice Department. The Justice Department said armed Texas National Guard members have blockaded access roads to the area, which "effectively prevents" Border Patrol agents from getting to or monitoring a roughly 2.5-mile stretch of the border.
