Influential Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats is doubling down on his disdain for former President Trump and his support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to take the GOP presidential nomination next year. [Snip] “The number one hurdle for Donald Trump is I’ve never met a dad or a mom or a grandpa or a grandma who have told me they want their son or daughter, grandchild to grow up to be like him,” Vander Plaats said. “That’s a big deal.” “Iowa will rise up,” he continued. “This is not leadership our country needs.”

It is mind-boggling to see the vast number of people attending events where President Trump is in appearance as keynote speaker or enthusiastically applauding him at social or sports events, and give credence to Mr. Vander Platts’ blanket denunciation of the man as “a man no dad or mom or grandpa or grandma would want their son, daughter, or grandchild to grow up to be like him.” While there is an element of truth in that perception, it is not likely an entire nation would be so inclined. One would hope that there are people with the intellectual capacity, human empathy, and religious foundation to recognize and admit that all mortals are sinners and look for the good in people. Chances are many adults can look back on their earlier years and regret some of their actions or words and feel an honest sense of remorse and shame.
Within a matter of days evangelical writers have been criticizing evangelicals for not subscribing to their way of thinking in opposing President Trump and brings to mind the Pharisees and Sadducees of ancient Israel and their interaction with the Jews and Gentiles at that time. At this time, the pompous tone of these self-proclaimed and lofty writers brings to mind the idiom, “The pot calling the kettle black.”
The philanthropic side of President Trump reveals a man of faith, compassion, generosity, and patriotism that is exceptionally staggering—the “quiet, private” side of a man many mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers would be proud to have their loved ones emulate.
Mr. Vander Plaats has said “voters were exhausted and tired and he felt it was time to turn the page.” Yes, a multitude of voters would agree that it is time to turn the page—to bring back a man who has the American people and this nation within his heart.

Sorry, Bob. When you are bought and paid for by the DeSantis campaign, your words have no value whatsoever.

No one has to want to be like him to want to vote for him. That's just dumb. And how many has he asked? Zero. It's clown world where this guy gets his 15 minutes.

I would love my grandchild to grow up into a Donald Trump. Tall, handsome, a builder that changed the skyline of the largest city in the world, a man who spread the wealth to Main Street America making me wealthy, a generous person that helps those in need out of his own pocket. In brief, Donald Trump the Great gave our Nation Peace and Prosperity. For this beneficent behavior the Communists within want to send him to prison for 700 years.

I really wonder who the parents and grandparents are that he says he has met.
A man like Trump, who sacrificed his reputation and lifestyle for his fellow countrymen, would be exactly what a parent or grandparent would want their children to grow up to be like.

If you feel a calling to politics, resign from the ministry and join a party. Otherwise, no pastor has any business aligning their church with any candidate.
Preach principles and encourage people to vote their values. Any minister who does otherwise is de-valuing their divine calling. Once a pastor aligns himself with any candidate, the politician’s character and actions remain inextricably tied to that pastor for life.
This pastor has damaged his (and I would argue, God’s) reputation for political gain. To what end? Very sad.

Donald Trump's character, despite the flaws that we all have, is far superior to those of any Democrat politician, and more than a few of his "Christian" detractors. Good enough for me.

#7, along with the things you identified, have you seen some of things he has done for individuals? I printed that article so I had that as a reference but I don't have it in front of me so I cannot begin to list them. It was mind boggling but the Democrats want you to know how awful a person he is. . .

Never has one man united such delusional people.
I’ve never seen anything like the “republicans” (“conservatives”) hatred for PDJT. It is astounding to see. But even more astoundinger trying to understand the force of the animus.
Still. Make your case for your man. (Note they never do. They just attack the one man who might be able to turn this around.)

That's right. No Mom or Dad wants their kids to grow up and become billionaires, and they certainly don't want the country to have strong economy. What an idiot. People like Plaats give religion a bad name.

When one receives remuneration for certain services, it is more than hypocritical to pass judgment on another, especially while claiming the mantle of a man of God. Dig deeper and you find this character has been selling out his "endorsement" for $$$ for many years.

To Mr. Vander Plaats' point, how many parents want their children to grow up to be "spiritual leaders" whose endorsements are for sale?
