Matt Taibbi is one of a group of honest liberals who are not blind to the contemporary Left’s faults. At Racket News, he writes about his testimony before Jim Jordan’s House Weaponization of Government Committee, which apparently prompted a visit to his home by the IRS. Jordan’s House committee investigated, with the result that the IRS has announced a new policy on home visits.
The substance of the investigation is related in more detail in a separate Racket News post, but for now I want to focus on Matt’s conclusion in the post linked above, which is titled “Thanks, to a Politician Who Did His Job”:

Hamas heavyweight Muhammad Qassem Sawalha, 62, was discovered living in London in a home bankrolled by UK citizens. Here’s the kicker: he lives in a Jewish neighborhood. Apparently, living amongst Jews isn’t so bad if a huge chunk of your home is paid for with someone else’s cheddar.
Sawalha and his wife scored a tasty $136,500 taxpayer-funded kiss when they bought a two-story home in London for $390,000. The house is paid off.
Sawalha, who is wanted in Israel for being a member of Hamas, skedaddled to London using a cousin’s passport in the 1990s and snagged his own British passport in the early 2000s.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on Palestinians living in Gaza city, the largest population center in the strip, to evacuate south as his country conducts an offensive in the north.

Ron DeSantis was one of the many Republican presidential candidates who addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition Summit Saturday in Las Vegas. DeSantis began his speech with the topic at the front of everyone's minds, especially the people in that room - Hamas' barbarous attacks on Israeli civilians.
On Oct 7th we witnessed a level of barbarity that had not been seen in recent decades...
What these Hamas terrorists did by butchering babies, by mutilating people, by taking elderly hostage, this reached a new depth for the depravity of mankind.
If these barbarians had their way, they would try to do a second Holocaust right in our own time.

It's still a bit of a mystery as to how exactly newly-minted House Speaker Mike Johnson will handle the upcoming budget battles, but on Joe Biden's corruption, he's already making himself clear. While speaking to Fox News Digital, Johnson laid into the president's alleged corruption surrounding his family's influence-peddling operation, calling it an "ongoing cover-up" and directly accusing Biden of lying "repeatedly." Johnson said:
We have an ongoing cover-up of the important facts as Joseph Biden is sitting in the Oval Office. We know that he stared right into the camera as the president and lied repeatedly—I mean, multiple times—

Las Vegas, Nevada — Former President Donald Trump told the annual leadership meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition on Saturday that President Joe Biden’s weakness on the world stage “caused” the attack on Israel by Palestinian Hamas terrorists October 7.
“Joe Biden’s weakness caused the attack on Israel,” Trump said. “Everywhere he goes, Biden’s weakness provokes war and death—because as history shows, evil only respects one thing: unyielding strength.”
“Three weeks ago, our world was shattered by an attack on Israel,” Trump said. “To every Israeli and every American touched by these barbaric atrocities: We love you — you have to understand that — we love you, we grieve with you,

Few Romans in the late decades of their 5th-century A.D. empire celebrated their newfound "diversity" of marauding Goths, Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Huns, and Vandals.
These tribes en masse had crossed the unsecured Rhine and Danube borders to harvest Roman bounty without a care about what had created it.
Their agendas were focused on destroying the civilization they overran rather than peacefully integrating into and perpetuating the Empire.
Ironically, Rome's prior greatness had been due to the extension of citizenship to diverse people throughout Europe, North Africa, and Asia.

After investing billions into a green energy agenda mimicking President Joe Biden’s federal rules, American automakers are quickly learning that Americans are not buying electric vehicles (EVs) at the rates they expected.
A comprehensive report in the Detroit Free Press details how the latest data reveals that while the Biden administration is pushing hard for automakers to turn out EVs, car companies are unable to sell the models.
Data from Edmunds.com shows that in September 2022, for example, EVs sat on dealership lots for just 21 days before they were sold. Today, EVs are sitting on dealership lots for 65 days.
Automakers, as Breitbart News reported, are well aware of the issue.

The British capital was once again mobbed with pro-Palestine protesters, with numbers matching demonstrations held in London last week during which activists were filmed calling for “Jihad“.
On Saturday, protesters flying a flag saying “fight for revolution”, were filmed chanting: “From London to Gaza, we’ll have an Intifada”.
The term Intifada, which literally translates to “Stone Uprising”, refers to years of violent Palestinian riots against Israel starting in 1987 on the 20th anniversary

Thousands gathered in Istanbul on Saturday for what was touted as the “Great Palestine Meeting.” The event was a pro-Palestine rally aimed at condemning Israel’s recent military actions in Gaza, where Hamas headquarters are located.
Hamas terrorists were responsible for a deadly attack that claimed the lives of 1,400 Jews in southern Israel. One must ask the question: What did people expect Israel to do in response? Not retaliate? When an entity like Hamas, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and Israel, engages in violent acts aimed at killing civilians, it is not only Israel’s right but also its obligation to defend its citizens.

He was interviewing Nikki Haley the evening of Oct. 25, fewer than three hours after the massacre in Lewiston, when he indulged in a soliloquy that made even the presidential hopeful look bored. And Hannity’s point? To say that his plan, should he ever find himself

It’s all fun and games till they start beheading babies
I liked Halloween as a boy because, even then, I was a cheapskate. I loved getting candy, and I loved even more getting it for free.
When I was about 11, my three siblings came down with the flu. Oddly, I didn’t. I went out trick-or-treating alone till about 10:30, way past my bedtime, while my sister and brothers languished at home praying to the porcelain god.
I took in quite a haul. Two full bags. Probably today’s equivalent of a couple hundred dollars’ worth of candy.
I was afraid that night.

If it weren’t taken for granted by now that everything that comes out of the Biden administration is a colossal screwup, it would be shocking that anyone shaping foreign policy for the White House is still employed there. National security adviser Jake Sullivan’s embarrassing, 7,000-word drivel in Foreign Affairs magazine should leave no doubt. “The Middle East is quieter than it has been in decades,” read his piece — which went to press just days before Hamas’ savage attack on innocent Israelis.

Kevin McCarthy's ouster revolved entirely around budgetary issues, including Ukrainian war funding. In his first floor speech as presumptive House Speaker, Mike Johnson outlined his priorities:
The skyrocketing cost of living is unsustainable and Americans should not have to worry about how they're going to feed their family every week because they can't afford their groceries anymore. Everybody in this room should think about this. Here's the stats: prices have increased over 17% in the last two years. A team excavating a geological formation in Turkey has aged rock and soil samples they believe contain ruins of the vessel, which puts the site at the same time the Bible puts the Great Flood 5,000 years ago.
The project began in 2021 and is ongoing, but the initial analysis determined samples to contain clayey and marine materials and seafood. According to the researchers, these results mean human activity was present on the boat-shaped mound between 5500 and 3000 BC.
