Huntington Bank filed to its regulator last week applications to close 26 brick-and-mortar locations across the Midwest.
Of those filings, nine were for branches in each Michigan and Minnesota, five in Ohio, two in Illinois and one in Wisconsin, according to a weekly bulletin published Friday by Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
In terms of number of closure applications, Huntington was followed by Citizens Bank, which filed to close a total of six branches, two of which were in Newark, Delaware. Two of Huntington's proposed closures were in Maplewood, Minnesota.

President Joe Biden plans to escape Washington for the weekend and head to his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware home as the crisis continues in the Middle East and chaos over House speakership has left Congress unable to help.
In the Middle East, Israel is readying a ground invasion of Gaza, while U.S. troops have been targeted in Iraq and Syria, all the while the clock is ticking to get more U.S. hostages back as the first two were relaesed.
On Capitol Hill, Rep. Jim Jordan's third try for the speakership failed, prompting even more uncertainty about when the House GOP would elect a new speaker.

“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling has often spoken up for the sex-based rights of women, arguing for — and even helping to fund — single-sex spaces for women, particularly those who have been abused.
She has often faced backlash for that from transgender ideology activists — and she faced a whole new wave of criticism when she doubled down on Tuesday, admitting that she’d “happily” do prison time if forced compliance with preferred gender pronouns and identities were the alternative.

This is the incredible moment a mother and daughter from Illinois arrived safely back in Israel after being kidnapped by Hamas and held hostage for 13 days.
Judith Tai Raanan and her daughter Natalie Shoshana Raanan arrived back in Israel late on Friday, the Israeli government confirmed.
An image of the two being taken back into Israel was also shared by authorities in the area, with the pair surrounded by armed soldiers. Anthony Blinken, the Secretary of State, said Hamas is still feared to be holding 10 Americans hostage.
The Secretary of State revealed the number still missing during a press conference

On the Thursday edition of her MSNBC show, Nicolle Wallace shed any pretense of compassionate or even dispassionate political analysis, and embraced her inner hatred.
Speaking about the 22 Republicans who wouldn't vote for Jordan with ex-GOP congressman and Never Trumper David Jolly, Wallace said:
"I know why I have a visceral rejection of Jim Jordan and it precedes his role in overturning the result of the 2020 election, but tell me why they hate him, the 22?"
"Visceral rejection:" euphemism for hating someone deep in your guts.

This week, a federal judge ruled that a California law banning so-called “assault weapons” is unconstitutional as it violates the Second Amendment.
According to the Associated Press, U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez of San Diego conceded that sporting rifles like AR-15s are used by those who commit crimes. However, these kinds of guns are also owned by law-abiding citizens who have firearms to protect themselves. “The State of California posits that its ‘assault weapon’ ban, the law challenged here, promotes an important public interest of disarming some mass shooters

Jewish liberals said they feel betrayed by many of their friends on the left who have come out in support of antisemitic ideas since the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas, The New York Times reported.
Rabbis, Jewish political leaders and Jewish voters said they felt abandoned by the political party they once aligned with, and called the sudden turn a “betrayal” and “beyond shocking,” according to the NYT. While some Jewish members of groups like Jewish Voices For Peace and IfNotNow said that they wanted Israel to announce a ceasefire, they were horrified by the number of political “allies” who called for Israel’s complete destruction or who claimed

Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume said Thursday that President Joe Biden’s address to the nation was “one of the best, if not the best, speeches of his presidency.”
Hume said, “I think it may be remembered as one of the best, if not the best, speeches of his presidency. He was firm, he was unequivocal, he was strong, as he has been particularly in recent days before he went to Israel and while he was over there.”He continued, “I was struck by the fact that he spent as much time as he did on Ukraine and I think it was a good thing that he did because

US Border patrol agents continue to dump migrants - including many who entered the country illegally - at a transit center in San Diego, overwhelming the city that already experiences 1,200 arrivals each day.
New photos show the shocking moment buses of migrants from central America, the Middle East and Africa arrive at the center.
There, they are met with social workers who help them book flights and bus tickets to other parts of the nation. San Diego shelters have struggled with the influx of migrants under Joe Biden's lax border policies.

Desperate families of Israeli children kidnapped by Hamas - including a baby and a four-year-old seen being taken away with their weeping mother - have broken down on live TV as they made heartbreaking appeals for their rescue.
Speaking at a press conference with other families who had loved ones snatched in Hamas's raid on Nir Oz kibbutz on October 7, one relative was unable to hold back her tears as she recounted seeing a video of her cousin being taken by the terrorists.
At least 203 people are thought to have been taken hostage after Hamas's surprise attack more than a week ago.
